Tweet asks whether potiential victims of sexual abuse will choose to be at their 'abuser's place' or have a 'happy face' Confused This is so unbelievably victim-blamey! I really hope the mainstream media picks up on it and they have a rethink!

Oh bloody hell that is bad.

Popchyk · 27/11/2018 10:08

I didn't understand the

What will you choose?

Birthday gifts or angry fists?

Because surely these men are buying them gifts? That's part of how they draw these young girls in.

It makes it sound like accepting the gifts is the right choice to make.

PositivelyPERF · 27/11/2018 10:10

Stay safe and speak to the police You’re fucking kidding me. If I was a victim of male violence or rape, I wouldn’t go near a police force that actively helps the TRAs harass women and believe that men who believe themselves or pretend to be women are actual women. They are the lowest of the low and I can see from their recent behaviour that they have learned nothing from Saville and all those poor abused children. I’m so sorry for the women and children or Yorkshire.

Or one that has a history of trying to cover up grooming gangs and calling the victims prostitutes.

I'd take my chances with asking pretty much any random bloke on the street for help rather than a member of that force.

JeanMichelBisquiat · 27/11/2018 10:12

Yes yes - in every grooming gang, it was the men buying them the fucking gifts. I cannot believe those images. Gaaaah.

TallulahWaitingInTheRain · 27/11/2018 10:19

Would you rather .... get in a car with a nice strange man and have some sweeties ...or be abducted?

Imnobody4 · 27/11/2018 10:20

Yorkshire police - a satanic version of keystone cops.

VanGoghsDog · 27/11/2018 10:20

Well, my dad used to beat me but he didn't give me a choice to have a birthday gift instead, so I'm not sure how that even makes sense.

It's idiotic and I hope they didn't pay a marketing company to come up with it (they did, they must have, jesus, that's tax payers' money that is....)

ErrolTheDragon · 27/11/2018 10:20

Did whoever dreamed that up think that all kids get the 'choice' of birthday gifts and happy faces?Confused

Publicising the link about child sexual exploitation may be a great idea (though I've not looked at what that says). How about they try again - maybe we could give them some suggestions? How about something along the lines of 'help us to help keep you safe'?

AngryAttackKittens · 27/11/2018 10:22

If you silly girls would just stop choosing to be abused you'd make the police's job so much easier!

Also not the main point but that layout looks like it was done by a first term graphic design student in 1992. Trying not to speculate what a police force as cartoonishly evil as this one spent the money they saved on design on.

SilkenTofu · 27/11/2018 10:25

Yes, let's put the onus on vulnerable children to not be abused by horrible, manipulative pedophiles who are 3 or 4 times their age Hmm

Keystone cops couldn't be a better description.

Omfg did they really just do that?

Omfg

mostdays · 27/11/2018 10:28

Why are we surprised by this? For as long as I can remember, anti rape campaigns have been based around "don't get raped" rather than "don't rape".

Avegemitesandwich · 27/11/2018 10:30

What the..... How can they..... Who thought.....Why did they........?

I'm just gobsmacked by that.

Cottonflowers · 27/11/2018 10:32

OMFG "birthday gifts or angry fists". I can't believe someone was paid to do come up with this dross.

Avegemitesandwich · 27/11/2018 10:33

I just can't believe that after everything that has happened, with Rotherham, with everything, that someone thought that up, designed it and published it. Did no one say, before it got into the public arena, 'hang on, this is completely inappropriate'?

It says an awful lot about the police. Jesus.

13thWarriorWitch · 27/11/2018 10:37

Whoever came up with that dangerous drivel wants shooting Angry

littlbrowndog · 27/11/2018 10:39

So the message is women and girls stay at home. Be safe

IStandWithPosie · 27/11/2018 10:40

Birthday gifts or fists?

Do they realise that some of these children don’t get birthday gifts? Do they realise that they already get angry fists at home? Who have they aimed these posters at?

AngryAttackKittens · 27/11/2018 10:41

Who have they aimed these posters at?

Themselves. Isn't it nice of them to let us know that it's in no way their responsibility if some silly girls get themselves abused? I mean, the nice policeman did warn them.

IStandWithPosie · 27/11/2018 10:53

Indeed!

What’s that young lady? You’ve been abused? Well, didn’t you see the posters? You were warned.
