ESRC sending millions of pounds to Sally Hines / Leeds Uni to research gender bollocks

Ht (twitter.com/DaveDavidDave_/status/1064836550448619522)

There's £700k, for example, for 'Living Gender in Diverse Times'

This features a motley crew of gender cultists:

Helen [redacted] (credited only as 'Helen', and with the email adress of press@mermaids) (she's on twitter as @mimmymum and has an adoring audience of diaper fetishists & furries as she says how great puberty blockers)

Meg-John Barker (partner of Edward Lord, non-binary freemason & big-time TRA), previously featured here: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/womens_rights/3339137-BACP-Gender-Sexual-and-Relationship-Diversity-by-Dr-Meg-John-Barker

Anna Carlile - gender cultist lecturer at Goldsmiths and Mermaids advocate

Justin Hancock - is a double act with Meg-John Barker (above) megjohnandjustin.com/about-us/

Ruth Pearce - Leeds Uni gender cultist ruthpearce.net/

Emma Renold - professor of childhood studies, promotes transgender identity to children www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-5932855/Transgender-muffin-challenge-young-people-reads-like-satire.html

Vanita Sundaram - intersectional feminist type, busy retweeting tweets from TW calling for Rachel Stock to be fired for transphobia twitter.com/VanitaSundaram

Liam Tielemans - works for some sort LGBT charity. Strangely, the emphasis seems to be on the T. www.lgbtconsortium.org.uk/node/3308

Strangely there does not seem to be any non-kool-aid drinkers among their number.

It's not really surprising this crap becomes law & public policy when there's a never-ending stream of cash, public (as here), semi-public (like BBC CiN), and private (Lloyds, etc.)

Follow the money.

Wow those tweets. Sad
Professor Hines is really upholding academic values right there. Leeds University must be so proud of her.

GrungeSponge · 17/12/2018 08:10

Seriously was Sally drunk? I mean it's not very professional is it??

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 17/12/2018 08:11

Sounds like floundering. Sadly she will be on the ‘wrong’ side soon enough and will see how unpleasant and scary people can be.

WeRiseUp · 17/12/2018 08:14

They do look a bit drunk. People are allowed to get pissed in their own free time but she seems a bit naive about how twitter = announcement to the world. Not a good idea to call other professionals 'snakes'.

BrienneofTERF · 17/12/2018 09:40

Am beginning to wonder if the University of Leeds need to start engaging in some damage limitation excercises..
Also the ESRC better be sure they engaged in due process when funding this crap given the current single digit success rates in funding applications in the discipline. Angry

OrchidInTheSun · 17/12/2018 09:43

I would be rather pissed off with Sally if I were in a leadership role at Leeds. I would say she's in danger of bringing the university into disrepute

Needmoresleep · 17/12/2018 11:05

Chief Executive of ESRC (though both organisation and job title may have changed).

I plan to write suggesting this an important but controversial area. I welcome research. However given the unacceptable pressures on some academics working within the gender field, it would be useful if the ESRC could emphasise the importance of academic freedom and professional respect.

BrienneofTERF · 17/12/2018 12:16

Thanks needmore, I think the esrc’s got it wrong here. I don’t recognise the academic need for even more ‘knowledge’ on this minority subgroup, not from the likes of Hines who will spin her unsubstantiated woo woo as fact.. Confused

Needmoresleep · 17/12/2018 12:30

Yes. If I find a way to weave in 'proper research rather than unsubstantiated woo' I will. In particular I was going to have a look at collaberators and their relevence. My initial (unresearched) concern is that it will be just more money to feed the gender industry. However questioning their decision making might just make them defensive and produce a stock responce.

The Government is worried about curbs on freedom of speech on campus. Many academics will be unhappy about the way the PC brigade can behave. (And not just GC academics. There was that well respected UCL scientist who was forced to resign a couple of years back because of some unguarded casual remarks.) The ESRC will be aware. And wont want their own reputation tarnished before a tough, post Brexit, funding round.

Bubonicpanic · 17/12/2018 13:26

It's embarrassing to watch this woman humiliate herself over this, to which she would respond no doubt, that she's not embarrassed to never need t o sue the word female again, its for the men dontcha know.

I see they do actually believe pretending these words mean nothing is someone going to change stereotypical behaviour. The have been so thoroughly groomed by fetish that can't see who is fucking with them. I meet these gullible limp woman at work. Get a grip you naive fools.

userschmoozer · 15/01/2019 13:45

Another vile tweet from Sally Hines, made in response to a tweet about the sexual orientation of lesbians;

@sally_hines
Replying to @AlexSharpe64 @Docstockk
Can transphobic lesbians still be shagable?

FloralBunting · 15/01/2019 13:54

Yes, it gets more nakedly disgusting as it goes on. She's even justifying it this morning with a weird "Can't you understand irony/take a joke?"

So, you know, 'unshagable' and no 'sense of humour'. Just incredible.

littlbrowndog · 15/01/2019 14:03

So insulting Hines

LangCleg · 15/01/2019 14:20

Sally: Can transphobic lesbians be shagable (sic)?

All the transbians: No! Never! Evil bigot witches!

All the lesbians: Thank fuck for that. Can you all get off our dating apps and go and bother someone shaggable now please?

FWRLurker · 15/01/2019 14:29

Some women really have a lot of internalized misogyny. I am sure that SH knows it would be unacceptable to imply that “lesbians are ugly and unshaggable” for refusing sex with men as this is the oldest and most homophobic/misogynistic way to attack lesbians.

Then somehow when it’s a man identifying as a woman that is rejected, anything goes...

It’s like the men who say that hitting women is wrong, then as soon as a woman assaults someone they make “funny jokes”: equal rights = equal fights, etc.

The misogyny is simmering just under the surface on the left. There are bubbles bursting the surface.

Katvonbatshitmermaid · 15/01/2019 15:03

Mind blown.

She undermines academia and brings her university into disrupte, surely? It's not funny. No one would ever think it was funny. It's bitchy, nasty, pathetic and low.

Some awesome come backs on Twitter.

Including "are you an interactive art installation"
Grin

Dr stock stomps on the nonsense with aplomb.

I can't believe she didn't delete. As for AS, so very bitter. See how they turn it around. Now it's a lesbians fault for not specifying they don't like cock, rather than a trans persons fault for not disclosing their biology. Jesus mate. Take a look at yourself.

Katvonbatshitmermaid · 15/01/2019 15:06

Leaving these here in case she realises she needs to delete.

It's hard to miss a penis is kind of the point of not wanting interact with one. But these nutcases keep saying their penises are not like other penises and are in fact so different and feminine one might as well think of them as slightly different vulvas.

God it's like trying to nail blancmange to the ceiling.

Bittermints · 15/01/2019 15:18

Batshit. The odd thing is that (lowering the tone) Prof Stock is a really beautiful woman as well as being incredibly intelligent, funny and coming across as a lovely person. I'm not a lesbian but if I were ...

Whereas, Prof Hines and Prof Sharpe .... not so much.
