Handwriting experts are on the same level as astrologers.

Why not just read the fucking tea leaves?

Noqont · 18/11/2018 14:50

So jules locket thinks she can remove other woman's rights and make them feel unsafe because she doesn't mind herself. Jules locket is an ignorant selfish twat. Imo. She won't win this though.

happydappy2 · 18/11/2018 14:58

Is Jules a woman or a transwomen?

Reminds me of Ruth Hunt's comment in response to the current petition to Stonewall:
www.ipetitions.com/petition/dear-stonewall-please-reconsider-your-approach
(extract)
"This week, a petition has been launched directly asking Stonewall to reconsider our work on trans equality.
The petition asks us to acknowledge that there are a range of viewpoints around sex and gender. Of course we know that these differing views exist, and have existed for many years. The petition also asks us to acknowledge that there is a conflict between trans rights and ‘sex based women’s rights’. We do not and will not acknowledge this. Doing so would imply that we do not believe that trans people deserve the same rights as others. However, we are unequivocal in our support of trans people’s – and everyone’s – right to equality and will remain so. Our motto is ‘acceptance without exception’. (continues)

She admitted, however, that it was sometimes necessary to establish someone’s birth gender because it affected the medical treatment they needed.

BIRTH SEX! Grrr

TorchesTorches · 18/11/2018 15:19

Very off topic, but this 'getting the handwriting experts in' reminded me of that bit in Grease where the boys have mooned during the live tv showing of the dance off and the Headmistress announces the next day to the school that they have taken pictures of the arses and are sending them to the CIA and FBI for their advance recognition equipment to identify the mooners.

3 days ago my 9yo daughter had an accident. The paramedics were amazing. They asked me how to pronounce her name correctly and made sure to use it when they spoke to her. The same process occurred over and over again at the hospital as she underwent difficult exams and surgery. She got excellent medical care and every staff member was gentle and kind with her.

You know what I have been called for the last 3 days by every person I encounter, “mom”. Because the paramedics, doctor, nurses, and every other member of the staff don’t have time to worry about names unless it matters because you are a scared little kid in tremendous pain. I suppose I should feel dehumanized, but what I really wish is I could go back and give each of them a hug and a plate of cookies.

Purpleartichoke · 18/11/2018 15:20

Awesome Grease reference

abacucat · 18/11/2018 15:22

And yes it may have been rude to tell someone they don't sound like a woman, but it is hardly a big deal.
But then I have experienced real discrimination and really don't understand people getting incredibly worked up about stuff like that.

BreakWindandFire · 18/11/2018 15:33

What exactly do they mean by 'defaced'? Vandalism, or re-designating changing rooms as 'male' and 'female' ones.

R0wantrees · 18/11/2018 15:34

What exactly do they mean by 'defaced'?

Given the response by some to a photograph of a small sticker on one of the 'iron men' at Crosby Beach, it could mean anything.

Bowlofbabelfish · 18/11/2018 15:38

She admitted, however, that it was sometimes necessary to establish someone’s birth gender because it affected the medical treatment they needed.

Sex. And yes, it can be very important indeed. A transman in the USA has already been treated according to Male eGFR values (how well your kidneys are functioning basically, varies between the sexes) and thus ended up in stage four kidney disease (ie terminal.)

When sex matters - it really matters. We don’t segregate for unnecessary stuff. This is important. And Lockett should know that.

morningtoncrescent62 · 18/11/2018 16:19

This has to be a wind-up and a distortion. Surely even with common sense on trans rights well and truly out of the window no-one in these days of GDPR could possibly hand over patient records to a 'handwriting expert' and remain in their management job? Much less boast about it in a major newspaper?

BreconBeBuggered · 18/11/2018 17:02

Yup. And in case anyone from the LAS is reading, I don't consent to my patient notes being misused for this kind of quackery.

The person (no idea if they are a man or woman) who brought this in - do they need to even shower or change in mixed rooms? Have they just got no brain to imagine that this isn’t acceptable to a hell of a lot of people - men and women?

They should be sacked.

XXcstatic · 18/11/2018 19:00

The PP who suggested that this was bravado and showing-off to a Gendered Intelligence is probably right. I suspect what has really happened is that changing rooms have been made unisex, but with complete cubicles, so people can change in private.

However, if women are really being made to change & shower with men, every single one should go off sick with stress. The ambulance service has never given a toss about its women employees (as the recent SWAST scandal shows), but it cares about sickness levels because it has to report on them to NHS England.

ChattyLion · 18/11/2018 19:00

Good grief. How dare they bring this abusive policy into the workplace... and then try to intimidate objectors?! Shock

(Sorry FWR regulars, I know I bore on about this..) I have to share normal old unadapted ladies/women’s/female toilets and shower provision in my workplace with male-bodied colleagues who feel that they are women.

Changing and showering is something we all avoid now at work and TBH if I could avoid using the work toilets entirely I would.

However- in my work we don’t routinely get sweaty and covered with blood and other bodily fluids and who knows what else at the end of a shift like ambulance crew do. We aren’t forced to change in and out of our uniform at work like them.

My work situation makes me feel powerless and humiliated. I can’t imagine how the ambulance staff are feeling. Thank god the press have picked up on it.

I don’t know if this also works for NHS staff concerns about staff safety but the NHS and Social Care Whistleblowing Helpline is on: 08000 724 725. They can advise NHS staff on the whistleblowing process. Hopefully someone who knows their onions will be along to advise if there is a proper NHS channel for these employees to use to object.

XXcstatic · 18/11/2018 19:04

Chatty could you make a complaint to the HSE about your situation, as frankexchange suggests?

ChattyLion · 18/11/2018 19:11

Sorry I missed Frank’s post about HSE

ChattyLion · 18/11/2018 19:16

thanks XX, I’ll have a look at HSE site.

Disabled loos ae doing some pretty heavy lifting nowadays. There's usually only one and it is often unusable due to filth. Many disabled people need particularly sanitary conditions to catheterise/inject etc. Making these single loos unisex ie for absolutely everyone, really does a diservice to another marginalised group.

Not sure if this has been shared,
August 2017 Independent:
Female NHS staff 'groped and groomed' by bosses in return for promotions, damning report reveals
Paramedics spoke of being groped, of ‘highly sexualised gazing’ in front of patients and of institutionalised bullying at NHS trust
(extract)
"Female ambulance staff were targeted by “predators” among NHS management who hounded them for sexual favours in return for promotion, according to a damning new report.

Women at South East Coast Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (Secamb) spoke of being groped, of “highly sexualised gazing” in front of patients and of “sexual predators” who “groomed students” for sex.

Researchers were told that sexualised behaviour was endemic among those in positions of power, but some senior staff interviewed believed those responsible had left the trust.

Secamb commissioned the independent report following concerns raised in its staff survey and a Care Quality Commission (CQC) report last year.

More than 40 per cent of the 2,000 staff who took part said they had experienced bullying over the previous 12 months.

“The researchers heard from several sources about overt and covert sexualised behaviour within Secamb,” the report said.

“This extended from beliefs held about former senior leaders through to frontline managers and the broader workforce.

“Some senior staff interviewed believed such a culture existed with those who had since left Secamb but the researchers were assured this was embedded in some parts of the organisation at management levels.

“For example, female staff talked about sexual favours being sought in return for career progression whilst others were hounded by managers seeking sexual favours for personal reasons.

“Several female staff felt that such behaviours were the norm, with some stating ‘my arse was slapped regularly’ and others who felt they were demeaned by highly sexualised gazing in front of colleagues and even patients.

“Some female respondents talked about ‘sexual predators’ amongst male colleagues who ‘groomed students’ for sexualised ends." (continues)

Isn't this the same service having massive problems with sexual harassment? Didn't realise the way to fight badly ingrained sexism was to make women shower and change with their coworkers - wow! What a revelation! I'm sure all those harassment cases will disappear now!
