Quite apart from the bullying nonsense, what on earth does this mean?
Lockett said the service had faced down “bravado” to bring in gender-neutral lavatories, showers and changing rooms “across our stations”.

CallingDannyBoy · 18/11/2018 08:49

I think the changes to changing rooms and making them mixed sex is chilling - is that across all ambulance stations? Surely there must have been some consultation and union involvement? Is it just in a small area? I find it hard to believe it hasn’t received more attention? The quote from Fair Play is spot on.

Lichtie · 18/11/2018 09:06

Vandalising NHS property is not the answer. Hope they sack whoever it was.

Juells · 18/11/2018 09:13

Vandalising NHS property is not the answer. Hope they sack whoever it was.

Deciding other people's boundaries don't matter is not the answer. They should sack all evangelical agenda-pushers.

Bowlofbabelfish · 18/11/2018 09:14

Sack them? For raising an objection to men in the women’s showers?

Do you think it’s ok to have men in the women’s showers?

jay55 · 18/11/2018 09:16

Given the reports from Bristol recently, of routine sexual harassment in the ambulance service this is very worrying.

PutYourShirtOnMartin · 18/11/2018 09:16

What a waste of NHS money

FlippinFumin · 18/11/2018 09:17

What a load of old shit. Up the defacers! The sheer arrogance is astounding. Steering members of the public away from their preferred names!!! How very fucking dare they. Because in an emergency it is highly important to get gender neutral pronouns right before saving someone's life.

BernardBlacksWineIcelolly · 18/11/2018 09:20

Great quote from Nic Williams

Whether women have to share their private spaces with men may not matter to Jules Lockett, but it does matter a great deal to other women, including clearly to many of her own staff. This is a classic example of someone trampling on women’s rights and safety and congratulating herself for it

and Jules Lockett sounds derranged

we’ve had one of our directors who has collected these signs, collected the handwriting and asked for a professional analyst to compare that handwriting with the handwriting they used on their patient report forms

try making that stand up in an employment tribunal love

Juells · 18/11/2018 09:21

There's a kind of collective insanity at work

UpstartCrow · 18/11/2018 09:21

If there's a problem, the answer is not to make women's spaces mixed sex.

OksanaAstankova · 18/11/2018 09:21

I work in an area of the NHS where everyone has to use changing rooms. I honestly cannot imagine what would happen if they tried to make them 'gender neutral' aka mixed. Well I do actually people would just refuse to use them and the consultants, who are the only people NHS management take any notice of, would through an absolute hissy fit until segregated changing was reintroduced.

Iused2BanOptimist · 18/11/2018 09:22

"In addition, the service’s emergency operators have been told not to call people “sir” or “madam” and to refrain from using “Mr” or “Mrs” even if 999 callers request it."

How dare they. What are they going to call people the ? Why ask pronouns and refuse to use what the caller requests? An emergency really isn't the time for the discussion.

Also I think Sir/Madam is slightly authoritative. Which I'm sure can be useful when giving instructions in an emergency.

BlardyBlar · 18/11/2018 09:22

“faced down bravado” translates to “ignored and belittled genuine concerns”

You can see in action how this is being achieved though. The person in the article is both “head of emergency operations centre training at London Ambulance Service, and joint head of its lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender network”

People are seeking training positions then using them to push their personal agenda.

That people are ripping the signs down and defacing them is a sign of deep frustration, allied with a feeling of powerlessness. That printed signs are being put up, rather than permanent official changes being made over a suitable timeframe suggests this is being shoved through at speed and invites vandalism.

They’ve started a battle and are trying to beat people into submission, rather than discussing the topic and attempting to reach a solution which best serves the wider community.

TheLastNigel · 18/11/2018 09:22

And how much did these hand writing experts cost??

Juells · 18/11/2018 09:25

Money no object, obviously.

BlardyBlar · 18/11/2018 09:25

And calling in a fucking handwriting expert. So they’re wasting even more precious NHS resources on this bullying crap.

Juells · 18/11/2018 09:26

Sometimes you really have to check that it's not April 1st, when you read something so batshit crazy and entitled.

Lucked · 18/11/2018 09:27

Handwriting expert says it was Diane. Diane flat out denies it. Diane fired anyway but takes them to an employment tribunal who agree handwriting experts sound like a load of bollocks.

Juells · 18/11/2018 09:31

Boiled down to its essentials, this story is about one person deciding on everyone else's boundaries, and forcing change on them. Then getting stroppy when people object in the only way possible.

UpstartCrow · 18/11/2018 09:33

That's a lot of people committing the crime of bravado.
If anyone is thinking of using bravado themselves, I have it on good authority that handwriting experts can't do squat if you use the other hand.

EverardDigby · 18/11/2018 09:33

Nic's quote was great! Really emphasised the disconnect between Jules and her staff.

Yeah in the south west ambulance service women were propositioned and forced to watch porn. I know that there are serious issues of bullying in another ambulance service too.

It is terrifying though the level of threat to people who don't comply, it's a real witch hunt.

EverardDigby · 18/11/2018 09:35

I have it on good authority that handwriting experts can't do squat if you use the other hand.

I wouldn't put it past them in that case to make everyone write with their wrong hand to find the culprit.... Good tip though Grin
