I've received a twelve-hour ban from Twitter so I thought I'd take the chance to say hello lovely mumsnetters! Thank you for all the support and kind words and very proud to be on your side.

I'm not deleting the tweets because I stand by them and there's nothing offensive about them. See for thyself, fellow witches!

Vivarium, you find a publisher that would touch me with a 10 foot bargepole, and I’ll publish a book of cartoons. Grin Grin

FloraFox · 17/11/2018 13:29

For me it was Kimberly Nixon suing Vancouver Rape Relief after being rejected as a volunteer. I thought we all understood they weren’t really women but we were going along with it to be nice. When people started to say “trans women are women” I was like “hang on a minute”. The cotton ceiling pushed me over the edge and learning that 80% don’t get any surgery. I was gonna smacked that the idea that lesbians don’t like dick should be in any way controversial.

Thanks Glinner for sticking with this.

moimichme · 17/11/2018 13:40

Welcome, and thank you, Glinner and Jonny! Smile

My story is that I'm mostly a lurker, but I'm trying to be braver (have to be somewhat careful though because I work in academia as the higher earner in my family, and unfortunately the time isn't right, yet, to be openly GC in my workplace, although some trusted colleagues know).

I'm kind of a trans widow, although my ex and I didn't have any kids and weren't ever married (dodged a bullet there, in retrospect). An individual who worked in tech, logical but a big fan of science fiction and unusual medical attempts and advances. Was initially very against the idea of any medical transition, but once we split up, the hormones, talk of surgery etc. started up in earnest. Seeing someone I loved so deeply turn into (in their words) a 'butch lesbian' was hard to believe...the sudden obsession with makeup and sexy women's clothes and glitter (ffs!), and the time and money spent on medical treatments. It all seemed so strange to me, and rather sudden from someone who had appeared to be a slightly alternative, lefty, long-haired heterosexual male for decades, to start acting like their idea of a teenage girl. And the fawning handmaidens on social media all freaked me out, until a few years ago I found this place while pregnant and realised that there was another point of view. One that didn't deny reality and was actually feminist. I've learned so much from these boards. Thank you everyone.

Helen's twitter avatar is a pink rose that's dyed blue.

That's about right. Using artificial means to ruin a beautiful thing.

A lot of them on that thread are quite cross about something to do with witches. Odd.

Goddamn anonymity.

I want to tell everyone Graham Linehan quoted me on Twitter... Grin

Ah well. One for the grandchildren. Or my fellow zeks in the gulag.

I was very live and let live as work in the public sector but then along came T Albazna & Topshop and it was such a visual hit. That was when I realised safeguarding was going down the pan & saw the speed at which corporations just roll over without a second thought beyond got to be PC.

FermatsTheorem · 17/11/2018 15:55

Me too Bowl, me too. (Preens).

VickyEadie · 17/11/2018 16:11

Feck, the gobshite never quoted me!

I still love him and want to have his babies, however.

fidgetspinner555 · 17/11/2018 16:15

Wow what a long thread! I'm slowly reading it all.

Hi Graham, I've posted before thanking you and I'm on Twitter under a different name. Anyway, you'll always get my undying thanks for all you do regarding the transcult.

My peak trans moment was Cancer Research tweeting about "people with cervixes" and then reading shortly after Tom Farr's article "The Left Are Abandoning Women; and in Doing So, Abandoning Everything They Stand For" on Medium.

I'd almost peaked before then though. Shamefully I'd heard about transwomen and the cotton ceiling thing at least 2 year before on a Facebook group but thought "LGBT issue" nothing to do with me and thought I should keep my nose out. I now feel thoroughly ashamed I didn't say or do anything, bec lesbians need everyones support over this. Trying to make up for it now....

Anyway, you're out of Twitter jail now, as I'm late to the party, but thanks still for everything. Do pop back again, it's a nice break from Twitter which can be quite toxic.

Fangirl moment, I've worked in IT and surely you must have too? I used to watch IT Crowd every week and think "Wow the writer must have worked in IT because he's so accurate as to what it's like working in computing. Right down to the buffet scene where they only go to the meeting for the food. Grin And the server rooms, buying both adult and child copies of Harry Potter (yep someone at work did that!).....Even one of the women I used work with was called Jen, got promoted and knew next to nothing about computers. The men were most upset....Shock

I am sad enough to have preened.

weeburrower1 · 17/11/2018 17:02

I couldn’t believe it when I saw you’d been booted off for that, right after Meghan Murphy highlighted her ban too!

My peak trans was Rachel McKinnon. I could not believe people were defending men participating in women’s sport. I tried to keep an open mind however and watched a video of a talk Rachel had given on the subject of trans people in sport. The main thrust seemed to be that people have different body types anyway, and compared men in women’s sport to things like a short person in basketball. Nope. The aggression and attitude I saw on Twitter from Rachel particularly towards the 3rd placed competitor was the final straw.

I feel like I’m still peak transing tbh - Karen White, Lily Madigan, cotton ceiling, the Scottish Government’s stealth capitulation, the Scottish Greens’ position on enforcement of affirming gender identity. This was all at roughly the same time for me. And I have a lot of sympathy for ‘old school’ transsexuals who are being exploited non stop by the trans contagion.

Yep, Tom Farr, another one who deserves thanks.
Hoping he writes for a mainstream publication one day, he's excellent.

VisitorsEntrance · 17/11/2018 17:25

It’s yourself, welcome.
We have a long history on Twitter.
Back when it was all fields, 2008 or so and there were about ten people on there I contacted you about a local museum that was in real trouble. They provided the set dressing computers for The IT Crowd. I talked to them about getting a twitter account and you promoted the shit out of it.
They are now doing really well and are established in Cambridge.

I also talk to the Mrs about food we find in our bras.

Keep fighting the fight.

tiktok · 17/11/2018 17:27

I've been on mumsnet almost since the very beginning, and mainly hung out on the infant feeding threads ( 'cos of being breastfeeding counsellor). About four years ago, I noticed that on a major international email list for BF support people I was on, some of the posters started talking about 'chestfeeding' and I thought 'wtf??' - so that was my first encounter. The explanation and discussion around this term was such obvious bullshit and such a handmaidenly response to the trans issue.

I got more and more enraged as I read more - inc this Feminist folder here on MN. I've always been a feminist, and I found some great info here that educated me further about the TRA agenda.

What really distresses me is when women fail to see how important our biology is, how biology contributes to, and is used by, patriarchy. And they think we should be kind and inclusive and lovely to the poor men who want to be ladies, so we don't talk about our biological and reproductive selves in case of hurt feelings. I include trans men in this - ffs, if you have had a baby and you are giving the baby milk from your body, you are breastfeeding, not chestfeeding. Grow the fuck up!

Iused2BanOptimist · 17/11/2018 17:29

I forgot to add - I first saw the t word that can't be named here in a disparaging tweet from Dr Christian. Urban dictionary explained the acronym but I still didn't understand what he was going on about. There seemed to be a lot of hate attached to something that looked like basic logic to me. So thanks Chris for helping me up that peak.

GatherNoMoss · 17/11/2018 17:43

I'm personally waiting for you to do the most blinding black comedy of your LIFE on the 'trans journey'. We're ready for it, we need the comedy!

GatherNoMoss · 17/11/2018 17:54

As you know, here's an outline for the script already reads like a black comedy

janeclarejones.com/2018/11/13/the-annals-of-the-terf-wars/?fbclid=IwAR2LCmkyuRvIV4vcNv8UP6bjT21mwUKxoOnoIYC6rVi2TESaFZMFznjLf08

GatherNoMoss · 17/11/2018 17:58

I hit peak trans years ago, when I learnt from Stephanie Davies Arai at Transgender Trend, what exactly was happening in schools to young girls, wanting to transition, and being confirmed in the ideology that their bodies were wrong! Broke my heart then. I have a low threshold for seeing young women being thrown to the wolves for the sake of Stonewall's avowed aim to 'smash heteronormativity' 3 years on, we know the statistics, over 4000% increase, etc. It's just tragic, and all very well for the adults, but no way, no how should Stonewall and the like be in our schools promoting this anti scientific harmful ideology.

tarziew · 17/11/2018 18:01

Glinner you absolute beauty! Thanks a million for your courage in standing up to the onslaught you face on Twitter. You are definitely on ‘the right side of history’.

Ok what peak transed me?

The cotton ceiling, followed by Lily fucking Madigan and then a cringey handmaiden’s article in Metro which stated matter-of-factly “some of the finest women I know have penises”.

My rage at this Emperor’s New Clothes bollocks has had a positive outcome because I have peak transed my entire family (except my ‘woke bro’ brother who loves Owen Jones (say no more!) and a good number of female friends. Whatever anyone thinks about equal rights nobody in their right minds can disagree that allowing beefy males into women’s sports is patently dangerous and unfair.

The fetishists like Aimee Challenor, Jess Bradley et al all just serve to add to my argument that these people do not behave like women. I honestly don’t care if I get called transphobic, this word now just means ‘disagrees with a trans person’.

This is a hill I’m prepared to die on (gin and cake for my final meal pls).

Xx
