What did you identify as when you were a child?

I need something lighthearted after the incredible grimness of the thread about police intimate searches. As a SA survivor, flashbacks a-go-go

So I was thinking, what kinds of weird shit did you pretend to be when you were a kid? And how would your life be now if the adults around you had taken you really seriously?

My 3yo just announced she is a Terrible Potato who lives in a cave.

Champion the Wonder Horse. I would gallop around the house on my hands and knees like a mad thing. My Mum would shout at me but I kept on galloping I loved it but used to have awful nose bleeds

A witch in training. I wanted a broomstick and fully expected to be able to astrally project at some future point. Still waiting.

The tartan-skirted Robbie in a comic strip in Girl magazine, who was always having adventures. That's when I wasn't being George in the Famous Five.

A boy. I really really wanted to be a boy. From around 4 to 15/16.

There was also lots of pretending to be The Goonies with my brother. We would disappear for hours on our BMXs to the woods to pretend we were hunting for treasure, hiding from baddies, building dens etc.

I liked to think I was a great BMXer but in reality I could barely manage a wheelie let alone any other stunts!

An only child. I had lots of fantasies about living in different scenarios (little house on the prairie, living in a marble village (!?) living underground, etc) My parents were always around (but didn't feature much) and my 2 older siblings were very much airbrushed out entirely.
