AIBU I'm asking the police to apply the law when arresting men?

Since the Leicester Square transgender gang ... 3 blokes ... have been in court now .... and the media have stopped calling them "women" I've resurrected this petition.

It calls for Sajid David to instruct police officers to use the law provided in the Police And Criminal Evidence Act when arresting men for a crime. It does not allow for self-identification. It is being used erroneously by our police forces and it must stop.

How do the Change petitions work, compared with the parliament ones?

@Cachailleacha It can still be delivered. Unfortunately when I submitted the petition to Parliament they rejected it which is why I've used Change. Change also insisted I used different wording and stopped calling men "men". But here it is.

I wonder if the perpetrators were referred to by female pronouns in Court as that is another insulting travesty of the system.

I also read that an elderly woman victim, who was punched by a transwoman, was forced by the judge to refer to her attacker by the female pronoun.

Was the judge legally required to fo this, or did he have discretion
i.e. was the law an ass, or just the judge ?

I wonder what would become of the man (real one) if he had got the better of the fight and ended up prosecuted. Would the crime be framed as man beating up a woman and all the sympathy and vitriol that attracts? I don’t condone physical assault in any way but let’s face it, ‘women beaters’ do seem more to attract a far greater level of criticism from the general public and society compared to man has a fight with a man

I've already signed, but happy to give this a bump. How many signatures are you aiming for, Jean?

Would the crime be framed as man beating up a woman and all the sympathy and vitriol that attracts?

I'm not at all sure you're right about the 'sympathy and vitriol' (read too many reports of men who've murdered women being described as nice blokes.... Jean may have views on this!!) but if the bloke had fought back I've little doubt it would have been cast in at least some circles as an attack specifically on TW.
