No one would ever assume to tell men as a collective how to vote.

deepwatersolo · 06/11/2018 06:56

Right. Because men did not vote for Trump. And as for those who did, like Kanye West: the sad truth is that their (white) Mums made them do it.

Floisme · 06/11/2018 07:29

I miss Bewilderness. Which rule of misogyny is it - the one about women being to blame for everything men do?

merrymouse · 06/11/2018 07:29

How are American white women who didn’t vote for Trump supposed to make amends for those who did? Is this supposed to change Trump voter’s minds? Why are any of them listening to somebody who isn’t American?

Avegemitesandwich · 06/11/2018 07:36

God, Munroe really hates women doesn't Munroe? It's so odd.

ShotsFired · 06/11/2018 07:47

@Floisme I miss Bewilderness. Which rule of misogyny is it - the one about women being to blame for everything men do?

That'll be Rule 1!
(I have pasted her whole list here just because it's always a worthwhile read!)

1st rule of misogyny: Women are responsible for what men do.
2nd rule of misogyny: Women saying no to men is a hate crime.
3rd rule of misogyny: Women speaking for themselves are exclusionary and selfish.
4th rule of misogyny: Women's opinions are violence against men thus male violence against women is justified.
5th rule of misogyny: WATM! Women and Feminism must be useful to men or they are worthless.
6th rule of misogyny: Women who go around being female AT men by menstruating and breast feeding babies deserve punishment.
7th rule of misogyny: Women should always be grateful to men for everything.
8th rule of misogyny: Men are whatever men say they are and women are whatever men say they are.
9th rule of misogyny: Men always know the "real reasons" for everything women do and say.
10th rule of misogyny: The worst thing about male violence is that it males men look bad.
11th rule of misogyny: Basic pattern recognition skills are cruel and evil when they hurt men's feelings.
12th rule of misogyny: whatever women suffer from, men suffer from more.
13th rule of misogyny: Women are not oppressed! Rape and catcalling and objectification are all compliments, not oppression.
14th rule of misogyny: Women have all the rights they need: The right to remain silent.

Goodness me! It’s so kind of Monroe to attempt to speak for several groups Monroe has no understanding of and no skin in the game.

ShotsFired · 06/11/2018 08:25

Where is Bewilderness?

I think she got banned after the new rules got put in place, Sarah
(Happy to be corrected if she left voluntarily)

Thank you Shots Cake This time I will copy and keep.

Sarahj I’ve read Bewilderness was banned but don’t know the full story. At first I thought it was just a 6 week ban but she’s been gone longer than that.

Is Bergdorf the one who told us all not to talk about our vaginas on the women’s march?

Floisme · 06/11/2018 08:28

Shots beat me to it 😁

Charliethefeminist · 06/11/2018 08:38

It was the NSPCC thread I think. Lots of people were suspended. Some of us begged and genuflected. Bewilder was having none of it.

Charliethefeminist · 06/11/2018 08:38

No, it was the Stella Creasy thread.

That's right. As pp have said, Munroe doesn't appear to like us inferior women very much.

Charliethefeminist · 06/11/2018 09:13

Mn lost Maryz at the same time. When I look at mn fwr now compared to then, it feels like a foot has been put down over the episodes of extreme moderation by a very small number of moderators cough which lost mn some of its most popular posters.

LillyoftheCentralValley · 06/11/2018 09:13

One demographic of women voted for Trump = white non college educated women, dragging the total number of white women, college and noncollege up to a bare majority of 54% for Trump, basically the same percentage of white women voted voted during both Obama campaigns (56% and 55% respectively)

How white women voted was an entirely predictable phenom. Hillary's campaign planned for it, and the white women's vote story is utterly boring (until this year at least -- I have hopes for the midterms), unless you have an agenda that involves blaming white women.

The Democrats haven't carried a majority of whites, male or female, in decades.

However, white men preferred Trump over Hillary by 12 points, a significantly larger percent than voted for Romney over Obama (7 points). It's also the widest gender (sic) gap since 1972.

All this stuff was nicely and promptly broken down by Pew Research after the election, but a few pundits took it upon themselves to explain it as if the white female vote was something new and then it took root on Twitter.

If you look at the real numbers, not only are white men responsible for Trump, but the thing strongly smells of misogyny.

But hey, who wants to be confronted when there's a women nearby to blame.

Charliethefeminist · 06/11/2018 09:14

I think munroe is one of those who think they make better women than we do.

Charliethefeminist · 06/11/2018 09:14

Fwiw I also think the Reps will retain both houses

FrumpyTrumpy · 06/11/2018 09:21

Tbf to Munroe they're only the 10 millionth person to say this since Trump won the election. see, they're not even can't even be original

It's been a particular annoyance for me since the election.

People who voted for Trump in order.

White men
White women
Black men
Black women

So really the only way it makes since to blame white women, is to blame white people as white men were far more likely to vote for Trump.

but to do that would be missing a great chance to be a cunt and blame women.

Even more bizarrely, "Black people" voted for Hillary. Even though they didn't really. black women were the only group to almost unanimously not fuck about and vote for Clinton.

So as the focus was on how "white women" lost the election, you think the media would focus on how "black women" tried to swing it for Clinton. But no, because to do that would be to give a woman, a black woman credit. Can't be doing that. So they just picked and choose, and surprise surprise no man got any of the blame and no woman got any of the credit.

deepwatersolo · 06/11/2018 09:22

Fwiw I also think the Reps will retain both houses.

It would not surprise me, given Dems have given up any policies that would make the lives of their natural base significantly better. Being against Trump is simply not enough.

ShotsFired · 06/11/2018 09:25

Frumpy that is depressing and as expected in equal measure.

OP posts:
Charliethefeminist · 06/11/2018 09:26

Support from Trump among black people of both sexes polled was at around 40% by one number.

FrumpyTrumpy · 06/11/2018 09:31

Only 4% of Black women voted for Trump which is a tiny amount. 94% for Clinton.
