Because I doubt any of you read it . Grin

I agree with her and think she’s brave. I’m irritated, annoyed and upset that I have to call her brave for having an opinion and putting it in print.

Polly, I don’t do Twitter, so I’ll say it here. .If I ever see you in the pub I’ll buy you a G&T.

She is so right. That's exactly what happens.

terryleather · 29/10/2018 17:24

Not the biggest fan of PV but she's absolutely got a point...

CountFosco · 29/10/2018 17:47

I bought Grazia just now because I saw this article (never normally buy it). Thankyou Polly for saying it clearly.

ElfID · 29/10/2018 17:52

Fab.

Gncq · 29/10/2018 17:58

Interesting...

ChiaraRimini · 29/10/2018 18:00

Shocked that there was anything vaguely worth reading in a "woman's" magazine.
I stopped buying them a long time ago due to lack of interest in ridiculous "style" (irrelevant to a 90s indie kid) and the utter vacuity of the rest of the content.

LizzieSiddal · 29/10/2018 18:11

Thanks Polly! I will be buying Grazia this week, to show support for her.

KatVonGulag · 29/10/2018 18:21

Wow. Good one.

I don't buy women's magazines as whilst I care passionately about clothes and style I'm not hugely interested in what is "in" from season to season. I did buy In- Style for a few years in my 40s I think. I enjoyed it, but as with many things, music, cinema, books , I've just moved on and I haven't bought it in a long time.

I don't however feel the need to validate how superior I am by making sneering digs about women who might enjoy Grazia.
And as if "90s indie kid" wasn't marketed as much as anything else.

And Polly Vernon was ripped to shreds on herecwhen Hot Feminism was published.

SeeTwoTo · 29/10/2018 18:38

It wasn’t really a thread about Women’s magazines-as I said, I assumed they wouldn’t be widely read here.

It’s not even about being a PV fan, or otherwise. It’s about a journalist who has stated how she feels and sees the topic. I couldn’t be sure I could do the same and keep my job.

Oi! I read it. Some of you really should listen to yourselves.

Anyway back to Polly - I thought it was interesting as she’s hardly a rad fem and I’d have linked but I couldn’t find an online version. Do drop in if you hear about this thread Polly - promise we won’t talk about our kids Wink

No it wasn't but that didn't stop one poster jumping at the opportunity to show off how superior she is to those vacuous women who read them.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 29/10/2018 19:01

I meant to post about it last week, but didn't want to admit to reading Grazia...

LassWiADelicateAir · 29/10/2018 19:01

Exactly Flo.

MsFenellaFielding · 29/10/2018 19:02

Well said Polly.

GoldenBuns · 29/10/2018 19:08

I'll buy a copy tomorrow. I frequently buy Grazia and other glossies too Grin

rightreckoner · 29/10/2018 19:09

Good work Polly.

GoldenBuns · 29/10/2018 19:10

I have seen tweets from PV that have made me think she has been GC for some time. India Knight, also.

ChattyLion · 29/10/2018 19:14

Well said Polly! Flowers I hope you read this. Women are being silenced everywhere. You are exactly right to call out this authoritarian #nodebate shitshow

ShimmyShimmyYa · 29/10/2018 19:34

I thought PV could well be GC
Intelligent, irreverent and the "right age"
Respect.

NaturalBornWoman · 29/10/2018 19:50

It's a good piece. Lots of women will read it.

Badgerthebodger · 29/10/2018 19:54

India Knight is far too grounded not to be GC.

SeeTwoTo · 29/10/2018 20:21

I thought it was interesting as she’s hardly a rad fem I wasn’t a radfem either until recently, just a vacuous woman. Now I’m both Grin

I could have been a rad gem but they thought I was too flighty.

Floisme · 29/10/2018 20:28

And my spelling wasn’t good enough Grin
