Incase I missed someone already posted about this. Please report if already posted

The RSE (Relationships and Sex Education) Government consultation gives everyone the chance to air their views on what is taught to primary and secondary age children on the subject of sex and relationships

Yes, there are some mentions of it on various threads but this is the first time that I've seen some of the FPFW/WPUK style of guidance for the GRA consultation that I've been craving for this RSE consultation.

Thank you for linking to this!

Fallingirl · 26/10/2018 12:11

Thanks. We should all share it far and wide.

IKeepFlouncing · 26/10/2018 12:13

Thanks for doing the clicky link. Will check H.T at school seen it. I’m becoming that parent ‘oh here she comes again’ :)

What about a change of title?

There is a lot of concern, on this Chat forum, around the rights and information needs of children in schools: sexual harassment and sexual assaults; access and attitudes to porn; sexual orientation worries; abusive relationships; the boundaries between the sexes and so on and so on.

I'm sure that MNs would want to discuss how best to respond, but the title may be off-putting.

Gentlygently · 26/10/2018 12:36

Can anyone tell me if this is going to be mandatory on private schools? I am considering a Catholic secondary school and I know at the moment they don’t teach contraception.

IKeepFlouncing · 26/10/2018 13:18

Yes sure theOther can you suggested one that will grab attention? I think if I put sex in the classroom it might attract wrong sort.

Didn’t want to directly post in certainly places under this name for obvious reasons.

Gently
TBH I’m not sure, my LEA haven’t been Stonewalled other than few posters from much earlier times. So I one step ahead

I agree; no one is really picking up on this. Previous threads have been short lived.

This needs really urgent attention, ideally anyone who did the GRA should do this one.

NeurotrashWarrior · 26/10/2018 15:45

Does Posie and WPUK etc know?

arranfan · 26/10/2018 15:49

Agreed - which is one of the reasons that I hoped various groups might provide explainers and guidance.

arranfan · 26/10/2018 15:51

This thread about the DfE's inaction about the number of sexual assaults in schools is something that strongly motivates me to believe that as many of us as possible should respond to this consultation:

Gentlygently · 26/10/2018 16:54

How about a thread ‘have your say about Sex education?’

Charliethefeminist · 26/10/2018 17:06

I've already done one. Is this different?

arranfan · 26/10/2018 17:07

I've already done one. Is this different?

It's not the same survey that Mumsnet was promoting in January of this year.

Charliethefeminist · 26/10/2018 18:04

Thanks arran - I'm extremely confused as that was also a sex Ed government consultation. I put my back into that one.

arranfan · 26/10/2018 18:49

Just to clear (I'm still fuddled by the chest infection) - it's not this one that was publicised towards the end of 2017 and ran in the first part of 2018:

2rebecca · 26/10/2018 18:53

Is it England only?

GatheringHerBrows · 26/10/2018 19:03

I'm planning to complete this, thanks OP.

Gentlygently · 26/10/2018 20:34

Thanks OP I was trying to remember what the consultation was called.

IKeepFlouncing · 26/10/2018 20:49

Thank you I reported post to change title.

The Transgender Trend have posted about this so I would assume they would know. I can’t make clicky link but The Transgender Trend give similar helpful guide to consultation that FPFW did on GRA

www.transgendertrend.com/rse-government-consultation/

There is nothing in any Welsh version. The Audience to who this is open to is wide, unlike previous one which again can’t do clicky links I have put at the bottom.

As a parent I’m wondering again why this feels like another slip under the radar. This is also open to those aged 13years old that tick I have parent consent. The audience & listed of those interested is basically any Tom,Dick and Harry.

I fully plan to putting my name to it.

These are previous consultation from Dec 2017

Oh clicky links worked

NeurotrashWarrior · 27/10/2018 06:48

Thanks OP, this is so so important when we hear claims that a girl a day is raped in British schools. Consent is so important.

I was reading through a very large fb group I rarely visit of the slinging variety looking at what had been written about regarding the self Id stuff and I was very concerned that basic consent was ignored within discussions of the cotton ceiling / lesbians etc. Another conversation around hard core porn ('gangbanging') was disturbing too. These were mostly mothers who didn't seem to really get wider implications of some of these things.

NeurotrashWarrior · 27/10/2018 07:01

I'm rubbish at collating this stuff but would it be worth someone doing an aibu to ask you about sre with some simple key facts regarding various issues eg impact of porn, numbers of sexual assaults in uk schools etc.

If I'm very honest it might be worth avoiding the trans stuff, or two separate posts as many still ignore anything relating to it. Obviously sex and gender could still be clearly defined (as it already is I believe)

It would be relatively easy to give a basic guide of the key qs to answer and the types of responses that might be useful.

If it doesn't make me car sick I could try working on one in the car later today (long journey) but I'm not great with the stats etc.

GatheringHerBrows · 27/10/2018 08:03

I just had a quick look at Transgender Trend's guidance for this (linked up thread) - it looks like a really good resource. And, boy, are we all educated after the GRA consultation 😄.

VickyEadie · 27/10/2018 09:05

Bump - this is important.

BernardBlacksWineIcelolly · 27/10/2018 09:49

this is a blatant place mark to remind me to come back this evening when the kids are in bed!
