It’s not something I would ever choose to do, in fact I’d err on the side of pacifism and feel very uncomfortable with many of our military campaigns past and present (and probably future too tbh) and think our defence spending is a moral & ethical disgrace, but all that aside (!) this is a big step for equality?

I don't see any reason why they shouldn't. However I do disagree when you see the stories about the fitness tests being lowered for women because biology..think the last time I read that was about firefighting, not the army. Yes women will on average be weaker than men with physical strength, thats life. The fitness tests should remain the same, as its fitness that matters, not having larger 'representation' in jobs where strength is needed. If this means not many women can complete it, then its just tough I think. Public safety over peoples hurt feelings, everytime.

Big outcry from the usual suspects in another board I frequent about how men will get killed now because inevitable standards will be lowered to let women part of elite units for diversity. As someone pointed out upthread, the standards for them won't be lowered and yet these keyboard warriors that could never pass the test themselves were already frothing about a hypothetical situation were other men would be killed because of women.

As far as we know the physical tests are going to stay the same for para, RM and SF. No age/sex adjustment to be made.

Suppose you can't really make the log lighter for the log race because you'd be carrying it with other men.

Physical tests are often screwed with anyway. At one of my units they made the women carry the same weight as their Male equiv during Combat Fitness Tests, and I was made to do the Corporals Course and Leadership Course despite it not be a requirement of my Corps.

deepwatersolo, posh boys ooze out of Sandhurst by the hundreds, the British Army is chock full of them Grin I’m laughing at your naïveté. It’s totally the expected thing and what you do for a few years because your father was in the same regiment. You only have to read the marriage announcements in the torygraph and check out the titles Grin
As a working class gal from the shires it was the only way I was ever hob bobbing with the landowners!
Coach, when I was doing log runs twenty seven years ago, we were expected to carry the same logs lol. I doubt that’s changed...
