I'd say unbelievable but we've all learned it's not.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 24/10/2018 17:50

Do you have a screenshot? The tweet seems.to have been removed?

Melamin · 24/10/2018 17:52

Link doesn't work for me - is this the Julie Bindel being no platformed by the 'Free Speech' lot?

SunsetBeetch · 24/10/2018 18:05

Here's the discussion Julie had with the organisers

MrsSnippyPants · 24/10/2018 18:09

No, ItsAllGoingToBeFine is right, it's gone.

Bugger, must remember to take screenshots!

He admits to being afraid.

MrsSnippyPants · 24/10/2018 18:13

IIRC, it said that following the closure of the GRC consultation, she was writing an article where transwomen were given a voice (not sure how many).
When one of the TW found that two of the other TW being interviewed were GC, they pulled out of the article and convinced the others to do so too.

Did anyone else see it?

MrsSnippyPants it is still showing on my timeline (I've attached a screenshot), but when I click on it, I get a message saying it can't be loaded. Strange.

I have found a couple of responses to it:

"Pity it didn't run but with an explanation why no interviews with them published. TV news run items which say 'we asked X for their point of view but they declined to comment.'"

"In the US, articles are pulled at major outlets regularly because an editor decides, at the last minute, dissenting voices on trans issues cannot be aired. At least you're talking about it so ppl KNOW the censorship has taken place. US reporters whose stories were pulled keep mum"

""Pressured" how? Perhaps you mean she convinced them to pull out by the cogency of her arguments?"

So I didn't dream it, but the tweet is gone.

I could still get it:

Oops x-post

2BorNot2Bvocal · 24/10/2018 18:24

Yes I saw it. Your summary is accurate. A piece with diverse voices.
First comment under was JT saying this is 'totalitarianism'. Subsequent comments asking how do such a small number of voices manage to control the press. One querying why didn't publish just those still happy to be published and say others had been approached and decided not to comment.

I've notice a couple of interview on the BBC where there are only pro self id people present. I wonder if they refuse to be interviewed with people with a different opinion.

MrsSnippyPants · 24/10/2018 18:31

Well done SunsetBeetch and ahagwearsapointybonnet

I do doubt my sanity quite often so good to know I'm not going mad (yet) Smile

I don't understand why they can't publish the views of the people who did not pull out. Why can't they just publish one side, and say that they asked people from the other side to contribute, but they refused? We are being silenced by their silence.

If the pro- self-id people are refusing their views to be published alongside gender critical voices, they are saying that they will only take part if the piece is one-sided.

They definitely do. On the Newsnight programme where they had a short film and then a studio discussion, they said that they had asked a number of pro self-id people to take part in the film, but they had all refused to appear alongside 'transphobes', apart from Aimee Challenor, who was then their only representative. TV channels have sometimes cancelled pieces because the pro self-id people won't take part so it would be one-sided.

I read that something similar happened recently with the Victoria Derbyshire programme - Helen Watts and Nic Williams were due to appear on the show, when a couple of TRA’s they didn’t like agreed to ‘debate’ against them, they pulled out.

I guess it happens all the time?

Its always good to go to reliable sources.
Sadly the one's you are reading are not.

What is concerning is that the sources you're reading eg UKTELI Twitter / Tara Hewitt etc do have influence.

Pissing off The Times and its journalists really isn't a smart move Wink
