The BBC must be wondering what the hell to do now.

They've deliberately packed all their coverage into what they thought was the last possible day and now it's been extended. Bummer.

"What do you reckon we should do now that the consultation has been extended, Gerald? Let's just stick four middle-aged white blokes who identify as women on Andrew Marr on Sunday to talk about how women should STFU about women's rights. That should do it. It shows balance".

HopeGarden · 19/10/2018 22:57

Maybe there’s been a last minute surge of interest.

The subject of the consultation has only just been covered on BBC news and women’s hour, that might have caught the attention of some people who don’t tend to read newspapers and / or who don’t follow the social media pages / groups talking about the GRA consultation.

MrsTerryPratchett · 19/10/2018 22:59

Anyone know if my contribution from Forrin will count? Not using a UK address...

Charliethefeminist · 19/10/2018 23:03

Would a last minute surge be more likely to be women who've just heard about it.

The only people who knew about it before were transadvocates.

I’ve mentioned it to a few women this week.

The immediate reaction to the concept of self ID being legal was split between disbelief and concern about negative consequences.

And not one of them had heard anything about the consultation.

Charliethefeminist · 19/10/2018 23:14

I think many women, nervous of coming out as GC, would have chosen this week to think 'fuck it, pee or get off the pot, now or never' and finally shared their concern in something near desperation to get other people to fill in the consultation.

They don't ask for an address, MrsT. Just an email address. Another open barn door of a means to infiltrate the consultation. Because people never have more than one email address do they? Particularly scammers and people with a whole vested interest.

Maybe the initial responses so far don't stack up in huge favour of self-ID so this extension is the Equalities Department's way of sending out an SOS to the trans lobby globally.

HopeGarden · 19/10/2018 23:42

The consultation form has boxes for address and postcode?

yetanotherusernameAgain · 20/10/2018 00:15

Fairly sure I only gave my email address.

OldCrone · 20/10/2018 01:16

You do have to give your address, but it doesn't say it's only for UK residents/citizens.

Bumping this for anyone who missed this announcement yesterday.

Roystonv · 20/10/2018 14:11

Not happy with the i newspaper article yesterday. Very last minute and biased.

FFSFFSFFS · 20/10/2018 14:38

oh god the i article. Good grief.

SuperLoudPoppingAction · 20/10/2018 14:41

Is anyone thinking about leafletting this weekend?

DresdenChina · 20/10/2018 17:27

Everyone! - if you are like me and 25 pages of jargon babble made you give up before you started - just use the Fair Play for Women one click form where its all done for you.

To be fair my opinions are more hard core than the ones pre written for me but its better to get something in than nothing at all.

Then go to 'Dick boldly goes' youtube vid for a laugh.

If anyone has connections to Fair play for women ( because I don't do FB) could they please pass on that the consultation leaflets they circulated only arrived at mine mid afternoon yesterday, the paranoid side of me wanted to ensure that this was deliberately intended to arrive on the last day?

Also 3 stickies currently by MN at the top of the sub forum, but they couldn't deign to sticky the MOST IMPORTANT one for the Feminism thread? bloody shame on them and a pox on their house.
