Just heard Debbie is on today.

We are men.

We don't care about women.

We won't listen to women.

Silly little women.

Pats heads.

Doesn't what Paris said show that the exemptions in the EA are useless? Imagine going to any kind of 'woman only' thing and Paris Lees is there! (Not that I have seen anything advertised as 'women only'for about 15 years.)

Ekphrasis · 19/10/2018 13:54

I think FiLiA is including their art awards but seems to so far fly under the radar.

Well there were men there last year. One woman had a t shirt on that said 'Pussy Power' and her boyfriend was with her.

borntobequiet · 19/10/2018 14:01

Well just complained, same as I did this morning after Today.
I said Debbie (like Kristina (sp?)) this morning was entirely sensible and I hold her in high regard but why no actual born women?

LittlePearl · 19/10/2018 14:02

EMAIL WORLD AT ONE!

I've just complained that YET AGAIN they have not one natal woman speaking on this issue. Debbie was brilliant but it's still four men discussing issues that are primarily about women.....how can they not see this?

Imnobody4 · 19/10/2018 14:03

I just can't believe the complete abdication of journalistic integrity at the BBC. Get the sense the presenter was in a state of abject terror of saying the wrong thing.

ZuttZeVootEeVro · 19/10/2018 14:05

Debbie was basically saying TRA are going about it the wrong way. Debbie believe that by talking to women, we can be persuaded to give up sex segregation. Debbie doesn't believe dismissing women will work long term, but dialogue will.

TeenTimesTwo · 19/10/2018 14:06

I've sent a one liner to WATO asking where the women were in the debate.

bluechameleon · 19/10/2018 14:08

I was metaphorically shouting at the radio (under my breath so as not to wake the baby). How can the BBC claim not to be biased when it allows "debates" to be conducted with no right to reply from one side? I sent a long message to the website, which will almost certainly have no effect but we can but try. I wish I'd mentioned the lack of women though.

Theyprobablywill · 19/10/2018 14:10

Fucking hell, women really are being silenced and ignored aren't we!

ImPreCis · 19/10/2018 14:11

Four men (male born people) discussing the GRA and its affect on women. I’ve emailed WATO to ask for an explanation. I may have mentioned Posies definition writ large on the BBC just last week, and had they already forgotten?

ShotsFired · 19/10/2018 14:12

Available on listen again here: www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m0000sdk

Ekphrasis · 19/10/2018 14:34

Considering Debbie spent a long time pointing out there were two sexes and single sex spaces for a reason it was extremely sexist to then not invite or involve a female in the discussion.

OP posts:
ifonlyus · 19/10/2018 15:05

Debbie talks sense. Debbie makes logical arguments. Debbie is awesome. But yeah - where's the female spokesperson here?

horizonglimmer · 19/10/2018 15:07

That was absolutely appalling. There were so many areas to question Paris and co on, such as the blatantly false equivalence with gay rights and black rights (ie that comparison would only work if anyone was saying trans people were sexual predators, which they aren't. We are saying some males are sexual predators and that is why we need sex segregated spaces).

It was just a cosy chat with trans activists agreeing, huge holes and areas for the interviewer to probe their arguments, yet no challenge from anywhere. Appalling.

Sportycustard · 19/10/2018 16:13

I have emailed WATO with a complaint. Disgraceful - not to mention being too little too late

FekkoTheLawyer · 19/10/2018 16:16

I fail to see what the third person brought to the party. Even more self absorbed that the usual boys they wheel put.

Shame Debbie was recorded. She would have squished those lightweights.

ZuttZeVootEeVro · 19/10/2018 16:19

I wonder if tra refuse to debate alongside women?

It was a similar set up on the Victoria Derbyshire prog this morning. The one GC women was on a program but on a pre recording, and not in the studio.

FekkoTheLawyer · 19/10/2018 16:22

Probably. Coward custard (to steal a phrase)

FekkoTheLawyer · 19/10/2018 16:33

R4 - comments

FekkoTheLawyer · 19/10/2018 16:35

'Lack of balance, I'm angry'

None responsible for the show available. Cowards!

pennydrew · 19/10/2018 17:27

I just saw Debbie on a YouTube vid ( on Newsnight ) and they were great. Excellent, calm and reasonable but also making sure to get important bits in.

Popchyk · 19/10/2018 17:34

Debbie on Twitter:

twitter.com/DebbieHayton/status/1052902208403070976

"Yes. I suffered an appalling transphobic attack last week from a trans ally who reported me to my employer.

My livelihood is under threat, but it is not under threat from gender critical women."

R0wantrees · 19/10/2018 17:36

I fail to see what the third person brought to the party. Even more self absorbed that the usual boys they wheel put.

I think the third person, the male born non-binary drag queen brought a great deal.

I'm sure many listeners benefited from hearing their comments.
