If the consultation results in self ID rules being relaxed...

Heya, it's thanks to this forum that I became at all aware of self ID and it's risks and thus the consultation which I have most definitely filled in!

Up until reading about the importance of sex segregated areas for women, I have to admit that I'd never really considered the fact that toilets and changing rooms are actually safe spaces. To lose them being predominantly for natal females would, on a subconscious level at least, actually make me feel less safe.

So if the self ID criteria does get relaxed would it be feasible to follow it as far as it goes? Man Friday again but on a much larger scale? I definitely don't think men have been as affected YET but I think they would be GC as hell if for example, they realised that by refusing to date a transwoman they are committing a hate crime (I think I'm following the 'cotton ceiling' to its logical counterpart). Going on what happened when Man Friday highlighted the Hampstead Ponds issue, I genuinely think that men would be very unhappy with obvious women in their safe spaces. And would probably be less likely to be attacked online and shut down in public when they are vocal in their displeasure.

If enough of us did it and identified as men to highlight the issue, could it have an effect? I'm sure it was someone on here who introduced me to the quote:
"The best way to get a bad law repealed is to enforce it strictly".

I would actually buy a mooncup for that.

That's what I was thinking.

Menstrual terrorism 😂

BowlofBabelfish I agree. This could be the catalyst. As I've been looking at the mainstream covering of it, it seems that the focus is mainly on the needs, feelings and wants of one side. They should be considered yes. But not at the expense of other people's needs, feelings and wants. I want to have my rights considered too.

If selfID comes in, I swear I am going to be using male areas with my husband. Mens areas will be safer as most of the pervs and weirdos (meaning men, not transwomen...) will be in the womens trying it on. If I am out on my own, I will just not use any loos/changing rooms or whatever. I can technically use the disabled areas, as I do have a quite serious disability, however I can use the non-disabled areas so I do as I feel the disabled areas should be left for those who absolutely have to use them

Most places have already adopted 'self-ID' anyway. Presently I ask and if they do allow men in the womens, I just hold it in, or go to another pool, or whatever. I simply do not feel safe at all when I am vulnerable and there is a large chance a bloke will come in, due to many bad experiences with men.

I would also join the 'flash mob' type thing. As long as loads of travel was not involved Grin

I am wondering what would happen if thousands of women develop ptsd, due to being forced to accept dick in our shower cubicles. I believe ptsd is an acceptable reason to go on disability?

If the government is going to force me to stay home, not have a job etc, then they can bloody well pay for it.

Men appear to have trouble peeing into the toilet bowl, so perhaps we could start having difficulty menstruating in a tidy and considerate fashion. Transforming the male toilets into something akin to the Texas Chainsaw Massacre might raise merry hell.

We could buy SheWees and pee standing up at the urinals next to the men.

We can start belching, scratching and manspreading on public transport.

If self-ID becomes law, expect it to be pushed further and campaigning for sex to be replaced by gender as a protected characteristic and the loss of single sex spaces. This is the thin end of the wedge...actually the wedge was pushed in with the 2015 guidance notes.
