So I guess this is what they had up their sleeve:

Socrates said something like: "When they have lost the debate they resort to slander". The TRAs have no valid arguments, so they are resorting to slander, lies and aggression.

TallulahWaitingInTheRain · 18/10/2018 20:16

Guardian having an identity crisis?

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 18/10/2018 20:17

That's predictable and fairly trivial, I wouldn't worry.

Deliriumoftheendless · 18/10/2018 20:18

Suicide risk mentioned again. Again.

PositivelyPERF · 18/10/2018 20:19

They really are a shower of hypocritical shites, aren’t they!

amandadecabernet · 18/10/2018 20:21

Is there anyone on this board who didn't see it coming?

The one from the researcher is hilarious. Researchers have a duty to be empathic to only one group of people, it seems. I don't think that's actually what research is. Speaking as a, erm, well, researcher.

RedToothBrush · 18/10/2018 20:29

Guardian having an identity crisis?

Yes.

Its having a massive one.

It might not even realise this.

Thats the hilarous bit.

AngryAttackKittens · 18/10/2018 20:31

They could all have just written "Nobody matters but us!" for the sake of brevity.

Pamspeople · 18/10/2018 20:32

Researchers ought to work with those who are discriminated against, show empathy, and put others before themselves

Says the man who hasn't even got enough empathy or awareness to notice that women are discriminates against. I'm having a little chuckle to myself and picturing his colleagues face-palming. Bless.

ShackUp · 18/10/2018 20:34

Ah, current Professor of Wokeology from St Wokeford's University College, Deptford...

Pamspeople · 18/10/2018 20:37

'please research meeeeeeeeeeeeee'

NowtSalamander · 18/10/2018 20:39

For the love of Mary, will someone stop those fuckwits talking about kids killing themselves?!

Surely SURELY this has got to stop.

AngryAttackKittens · 18/10/2018 20:40

That's the second time the Guardian has breached media standards on talking about suicide just within the last week.

RedToothBrush · 18/10/2018 20:40

Having a letter published from someone from Goldsmiths Uni is priceless.

Pamspeople · 18/10/2018 20:41

Omg, what will Harrop do when he discovers they are printing letters but haven't asked him to bestow his wisdom?? He is going to have the narcissistic meltdown to end all meltdowns.

Poor lamb.

amandadecabernet · 18/10/2018 20:43

You know what? I find this so traumatic and actually violent I might just go and do myself an injury. Why was there no trigger alert on this article?!?!?!

But seriously, it is pretty depressing. And depressingly predictable.

OP posts:
doctorbarbie · 18/10/2018 20:45

Letters pages are an insidious way of sneaking utter lies into a paper without any fact checking needed. How many letters must they have received since yesterday evening???? And according to that sample, all of them are on one side of the debate.

OldCrone · 18/10/2018 20:45

Recent groundbreaking work has shown that transgender children respond to gender identity measures in line with their identified gender, not their natal sex.

Can anyone explain what this sentence means? Shame they didn't link to this research or name authors or journals.

Justhadathought · 18/10/2018 20:45

The fact that suicide is so often referenced or threatened by trans activists shows very clearly how this is a mental health issue. Such an incredibly brittle and fragile a construct, that almost anything can shatter it.

idontlikepinkandimstillfemale · 18/10/2018 20:46

I'm sure Dr Luke McGuire has no 'self-interests' whatsoever for his letter:

"I am interested in how children and adolescents conceptualise and reason about gender identity from an intergroup perspective, and would be interested in working on any projects related to this."

www.gold.ac.uk/usfs/people/

Pamspeople · 18/10/2018 20:47

And of course noone ever seems to mention or acknowledge the dreadfully high level of mental health problems and suicide attempts among women who have been sexually assaulted, raped, 'flashed at', upskirted, molested... No no, women are fine with all that and just have this irrational transphobia Hmm

KataraJean · 18/10/2018 20:49

A gender identity measure surely means whether something is considered masculine or feminine by society - translates as some girls like trains and cars, some boys like dolls. I mean, how do you measure gender identity without resorting to stereotypes?

I may be wrong, off to research what ‘gender identity measures’ are.

Pamspeople · 18/10/2018 20:51

It might be some research that has recently been debunked, I'll see if I can find the link
