1215 BBC2 #politicslive Brexit, health rationing and the 1st of 2 films on trans rights. Tomorrow we hear from young trans women about why they want change and today @ElizabethGlinka meets feminist activists from @WomansPlaceUK concerned about the effect on women’s rights.

Bump
Starting now

RubyViolet · 18/10/2018 12:16

Thanks, watching.

LorettasBox · 18/10/2018 12:45

Here we go.

boatyardblues · 18/10/2018 12:47

Placemarking shamelessly

Zeugma · 18/10/2018 12:49

Helen Watts on now. Go Helen.

LorettasBox · 18/10/2018 12:53

Ooo, Benjamin really wanted to be a bit more unpleasant about 'the people with a problem with this', didn't he?

Zeugma · 18/10/2018 12:53

Benjamin Cohen of Pink News completely confusing sex and gender. What a surprise. Presenter Jo Coburn trying to pin him down but it's like trying to nail jelly to the wall

AbsintheFriends · 18/10/2018 12:54

I'm watching

The film was OK but didn't really set out the basic fact that ANY MAN can say they're a woman without changing ANYTHING about their body or their lives.

Studio discussion is ridiculous, but the presenter is handling it well so far.

PiperPublickOccurrences · 18/10/2018 12:55

Who's the dark haired lady in the green dress, she's awesome.

AbsintheFriends · 18/10/2018 12:55

There is one woman panellist who is brilliant. Don't know who she is, but she is just excellent. Prisons, sport, trolling... go her.

Zeugma · 18/10/2018 12:56

BC now trying to talk loudly over the top of the excellent woman in green and drown her out (sorry, didn't see the start - she's great - who is she?)

LorettasBox · 18/10/2018 12:56

Oh ha de fucking ha. Transmen brought up, as usual as a gotcha after thoughts.

Oh, and men talking over a woman.

AbsintheFriends · 18/10/2018 12:57

She is holding her own when 2 men keep trying to talk over her. So infuriating. 'You're blowing it out of proportion' says one bloke. Talking about assault.

LorettasBox · 18/10/2018 12:57

"You're blowing it out of proportion."

Thanks mate. Tosser.

Zeugma · 18/10/2018 12:57

BC says 'there are far more trans people than Jewish people'

Really?

AbsintheFriends · 18/10/2018 12:58

Politician filling airtime by saying precisely nothing.

Poppyred85 · 18/10/2018 12:59

I am so angry watching this. Ben Cohen lying outright and smirking at it all. It’s only a small percentage of women who would be at risk so we should just let it happen?? Isn’t one woman one woman too many? Fuck them! And fuck the BBC for holding this shit show!

Cwenthryth · 18/10/2018 12:59

Camilla Tominey, of the Telegraph. She is spot on. Ben Cohen is very muddled. And he actually smirked when Camilla mentioned a woman being almost killed in the boxing ring by a transwoman. That was really unpleasant.

PiperPublickOccurrences · 18/10/2018 12:59

Also very pleased that the ex guide leader mentioned respecting everyone's rights. Allowing transgirls into guides is not respecting my daughter's rights not to share a changing room with a male body? It's not respecting her rights as a 13 year old who's shy and conscious of her changing body.

nonotes · 18/10/2018 13:00

Honestly that was frustrating. It's always men saying we should be kinder etc etc...

LorettasBox · 18/10/2018 13:00

Bag of shite, and the MP in pink was useless.

Same old same old BBC bollocks.

PiperPublickOccurrences · 18/10/2018 13:00

Theresa Villiers couldn't sit on the fence more if she tried.

AbsintheFriends · 18/10/2018 13:00

Ben Cohen is deeply, deeply unpleasant. No one could not see that, whatever their beliefs on this. I'd be embarrassed to have such a nasty piece of work speaking for me.

FlowersAndHerts · 18/10/2018 13:00

"There are 263,346 Jews in England and Wales according to the last census although due to the voluntary nature of the question on faith and under-reporting, the Institute for Jewish Policy Research estimates that the actual figure is 284,000."

NoRunAround · 18/10/2018 13:01

Bother - only caught the last 2 mins. Who's the waffly MP?
