So who have you convinced to respond to the GRA consultation?

I have got my parents and my sister to submit FPFW’s one click response, plus my sister’s friend has done it too. Myself and my partner have filled it out the long way, and another woman who works with me who I alerted is filling it out for herself and with her elderly mother, plus she said there were two other women filling it out after she told them about it. So that’s nine people who wouldn’t have done it if I hadn’t brought their attention to it, plus there could be other people who I don’t even know about, people who I’ve given leaflets to, people who have seen my posts on social media and people who I’ve chatted to on the bus etc. That’s quite a ripple effect.

Who have you got to fill out the consultation?

Mine's done, finally.

I will be sitting down with three adults in my family to complete it with them tonight (one of the quick linky ones) and think about 10 friends have done it too (not sure whether they wrote answers or submitted the one from FPFW or whether they did it as a result of my efforts or were doing it anyway.) Three friends have also gone on and networked the link as well as posting persuasive comments so hopefully they have been busy working their networks too. The extension has really helped because I only worked up enough courage to go nuclear about this on Facebook earlier in the week. Wish I'd done it sooner but I hardly see any of those people IRL any more as I've moved away, so it always felt like a risk.

In total then 13 I know of plus me.

A couple of friends who are Conservative voters. Until I took them through it, they would have laughed in my face if I'd tried to convince them into a feminist world view. I was surprised that I was able to get them on board so straightforwardly.

I then tried with a couple of Labour voters who responded like I was a bigot for coming out with "attitudes from half a century ago". Those friendships are now in the balance. Particularly because I was told that it was right for Karen White to have been incarcerated in HMP New Hall and the real problem was that that women's prison didn't have a secure unit to place White in.

Tanith yes I know stonewall have as I’m sure there was some joke that Haddock used there prefill form.

I could be totally wrong but I am sure I recall some supporters of Stonewall / Mermaid canvassing towards youngsters in helping with them the GRA Consultation. As I say I could be wrong I would have to trawl through all posts to confirm if that correct.

It never even occurred to me to approach even my younger female relatives, I left that responsiblilty with parents.

You're not.

A friend and a couple of family members. I'm rather pleased that a dear doggy lady who lurks on Twitter, keeping her own account private, mostly following animal related accounts was rather bemused when I came out GC on twitter as my tweets changed from mainly archers and inanities to lots of GC stuff. Anyway she took a link from one of my tweets and looked at the FPFW videos and was so she has done hers as a result.

Huge congratulations and thanks to all you clever and hardworking ladies at FPFW, it's been a brilliant campaign and has really made a difference.

DH has a work colleague who refers to herself as transsexual. She has had years of invasive surgery and is really a very complex character. I am more than happy to refer to her as "she". She is totally against the idea that people can just announce that they are now a woman and be treated as such.

I think it's hugely disrespectful of the struggles of people like this to distill it all into a feeling that can quickly be appeased by a simple on line form filling exercise. And really shows a shocking lack of understanding of the whole issue imo.

  • Doggy lady was so shocked.

Emoticons seem to be being omitted for me.

DP and a close friend, both of whom used the FPFW template responses - that's all. I don't tend to talk much about this stuff IRL.

I'll be fascinated to see how many responses they get on each side - 53,000 is a lot to wade through.
