I've just heard PM on the radio denying she's resigning over Brexit. Which could mean she is hmm]

I wonder what happens to the consultation if she does resign.

Maybe she is fed up of it - surely you can only go so far with TWAW, before the conflict with reality hits you and you go mad.

Someone else will be appointed and say TWAW in all circumstances etc, unless the men in grey who run the Tory party are with the recent opinion poll, in which case they will find someone to make a 'compromise' in order to get it out of the way, which will not be any better for women.

Rumbledore · 16/10/2018 12:20

Or it could be shelved indefinitely

OP posts:
Melamin · 16/10/2018 12:31

Well, that would only be for this Government. Then if we got a non - tory one, it would be the same palaver all over again.

HawkeyeInConfusion · 16/10/2018 12:33

Maybe David Davies (the Welsh one, not the Brexit one) will be given her job. I know he's a bloke, but he cares more for women than PM does.

SonicVersusGynaephobia · 16/10/2018 12:38

Who cares.

At this stage I'd much rather a man filled the Women & Equalities brief than Penny Mordaunt.

TheCountryGirl · 16/10/2018 12:38

Oh boo boo what a shame 🎻 Can't stand this treacherous woman.

HamiltonCork · 16/10/2018 12:41

She will always be remembered as a traitor to women.

R0wantrees · 16/10/2018 12:43

Victoria Atkins is the current Women's Minister in the W&Eq department. She raised the concerns about the numbers of young girls being referred to Tavistock.

She may have clarity on this.

R0wantrees · 16/10/2018 12:46

Maria Miller should resign from W&Eq committee.

See Prof Stock's speech:
www.mumsnet.com/Talk/womens_rights/3391330-Prof-Kathleen-Stock-WPUK-speech-at-House-of-Lords-Important-disection-of-the-key-issues-for-MPs-policy-makers-etc-with-ref-to-The-Trans-Equality-Report

Janice Turner's interview with Maria Miller last year, the one where women's concerns are dismissed by Maria Miller as being by 'so-called feminists':

pinchpoint · 16/10/2018 12:52

Good riddance to Mordaunt.

Miller should go, too.

But who will step into their shoes? Will this be an opportunity to shelve the entire consultation? Would that be a win for us? Or a waste of all the work done pushing back against that ludicrous agenda?

So many questions. Yet more uncertainly.

I suppose time will tell...

pinchpoint · 16/10/2018 12:55

If Victoria Atkins raised the alarm re the 4500% increase in girls referred to gender identity clinics in recent years, then good for her.

I'd like to see a man take responsibility for the Self-ID agenda. Show it for what it really is - a matter of extending male sex rights.

DereksSexyPyjamas · 16/10/2018 12:58

Even if it is shelved, it’s not like that’s the end of it. There are still battles to be fought and a lot of organisations have embraced self-ID without considering the effect on women and girls. We’ll keep going, keep highlighting the situation to the public.

Alltheprettyseahorses · 16/10/2018 13:02

I dunno. From what I've seen, the Tories seem to be backpedalling a bit and PM appears to be taking notice of the GC argument on social media.

TwistedStitch · 16/10/2018 13:05

Good, hope she does. David TC Davies tweeted this earlier, doesn't sound like self ID will be passed without a fight.

Needmoresleep · 16/10/2018 13:20

I met David Davies MP outside the Linda Bellos court case.

I got the impression that he was someone who would listen to arguments before making his mind up, rather than slavishly following policies. I agree with him on this issue, but probably don't on others. All our parties need more people who have real world experience, and who are willing/able to think critically. A good man.

I want a MN good politician award. Nominees might include DD, Frank Field and .... am running out of ideas.

Needmoresleep · 16/10/2018 13:24

I thought Penny Mordaunt belonged to that wing of the Tories that John Major was caught referring to as "those bastards".

Hateful, hateful woman. Single handedly she has done so much damage the cause of women and girls. I hope her constituency party consider how toxic she is amongst Conservative and swing voters.

ContessasGulagSpaDay · 16/10/2018 13:25

Mordaunt is resigning?!

Fucking hell. Is that all Tories know how to do?

TimeLady · 16/10/2018 13:30

If it's true that PM has a twin brother who is gay, then it's likely she's witnessed homophobic bullying in the past, which may explain her sympathetic views towards the trans community and her affinity with Stonewall.

Ali1cedowntherabbithole · 16/10/2018 13:48

I got excited then when I read about PM resigning... then realised it wasn't the PM!

Now I'm with the programme, I think I read that Penny is ambitious and would want to distance herself from the GRA consultation mess.

R0wantrees · 16/10/2018 14:02

Penny Mordan't actions & statements can't be 'disappeared'!

Ali1cedowntherabbithole · 16/10/2018 14:13

Penny Mordan't actions & statements can't be 'disappeared'!

No, especially if we keep finding them. Just to be helpful.

R0wantrees · 16/10/2018 14:16
Grin
bluetitsaretits · 16/10/2018 14:28

Apologies if this has already been discussed somewhere, but has there been any more news on the government inquiry into the massive rise in girls identifying as trans?

ShotsFired · 16/10/2018 17:21

She should be dismissed with disgrace for the shitshow she has presided over.

No way should she be able to just walk away with no consequences.

Hateful traitorous woman.
