Transgender Kids: Who Knows Best from the BBC put both sides:

Obviously, both sides is no good to one side, which tried to get it banned and succeeded in Canada.

Why was the mum putting mascara on the child for school?

Why does being a girl mean that an 11 year old wears makeup to school?

The programme constantly reduces being female to clothes and makeup. Why haven't they shown Max what strong, female role models look like instead of reinforcing this fantasy about what being female is?

Feedback from the trans community seems to be that this is a very accurate portrayal which I find quite shocking. There is very little support for that poor, confused pre-pubescent child.

I won't give any spoilers Grin but I looked up what is due to happen in the 3rd and final episode, and it suggests to me that they have another series planned.

FloralBunting · 23/10/2018 13:42

Good luck with that hope from those ratings.

The temptation to suggest plot lines inspired by real life, is erm... yes.

LangCleg · 23/10/2018 14:11

Quite. 2.8m down to 2.3m. Dismal. Big disappointment for ITV. But that's what happens when you're as subtle as a brick. Even sympathetic audiences can't be arsed.

MrsChollySawcutt · 23/10/2018 14:14

Don't think I will be watching a second series unless it changes tack massively. Not even sure I can manage part 3 of this one. I've had my fill of Anna Friel screeching and flapping her arms about, especially when claiming to be 'the expert' and insisting her child must have puberty blockers.

Like others, I was also mystified as to why 11 year old 'Maxine' needed to wear 1970s style purple eyeshadow, candy pink lipstick and mascara to be thought of as female. The female classmates were not painted up in this way.

IdahoCrow · 23/10/2018 14:22

The trendy Left have really swallowed the Right's ideology about what constitutes 'femaleness' - loving makeup, loving skirts, loving pink ... It's such indoctrinating bollocks.

MrsChollySawcutt · 23/10/2018 16:32

Interestingly there are a mahoosive number of 10/10 reviews for the series on IMDB. Someone has been spamming the site I feel...

derxa · 24/10/2018 08:46

Being promoted on Lorraine right now. Poppy who transitioned at 9 explaining

dozent · 24/10/2018 08:48

It's a ridiculous one sided bullshit softy interview

FekkoTheLawyer · 24/10/2018 08:52

So why are the kids seemingly never 'boyish' boys (Ie likes trains and mud) who 'feel' like a girl? ( I know the answer here)

derxa · 24/10/2018 09:01

Then followed by two wonderful women who are pilots, one a Red Arrow. Confused

Howyoualldoworkme · 24/10/2018 09:10

There's a lack lustre write up in this week's Radio Times (print version). The reviewer calls it 'underwhelming'
I expect they've been taken away for BBC re-education
