A GRC is not prohibitively expensive, and absolutely doesn't require any irreversible altering of the person's body.

If a spouse vetos a GRC then you simply get divorced, then get your GRC. It's not rocket science.

Is that an open admission that LM doesn't actually want to change their body to be, say, like a woman's body? Even though they are an actual literal woman.

I totally support trans women who transition to alleviate their dysphoria and can feel comfortable in their ' ew' female body (yes I know chromosomes, not actual female.reproductive systems etc but we all know what I mean). I can't get my head around having a male body, male sex organs but being a 'woman' whilst not actually wanting to resemble the female form.

Get a grc.

You don't have to change your body (there are people with a grc who don't. Indeed the ECHR ruled that you didn't have to). You just have to have a diagnosis of gender dysphoria and live as a woman.

And it doesn't cost a fortune. Its £140 and you can apply for help paying it, if you are on benefits or low income.

For someone who has said they managed to blag a place at Goldsmiths rather another university because some one off twitter put money up for them to do it, and has blagged numerous trips to foreign countries and frequency has put up their just giving details for clothes and food, I'm struggling to see how Lily would have difficulty raising that amount.

Unless, Lily is a good old fashioned scammed or worst still, is still secretly being funded by the bank of mum and dad but doesn't want to admit it as it'd damage their street cred.

Yeah. Just another lie to add to the long list of 'alternative facts' Lily propagates.

There was a recent tweet that she had already transitioned, and any guess what that did or didn't mean was superficial. Less than a month earlier she was about to start hormones. I can understand her thoughts on this may be evolving so I don't see it as an inconsistency.

Yes indeed.

If you were committed to transitioning and living as a woman the rest of your life, why would you worry a about irreversible action? Unless you had doubts. And if you had doubts, you would not get a GRC as you hadn't got sufficient commitment.

As a side point to that, one of the arguments regarding self ID is supposed to be limited in its scope over reversibility so people can't take the piss and it just removes gatekeepers. But the process of a GRC means you are less likely to get people applying for one, who are likely to reverse.

Self ID in this way, makes it more likely to be exploited as it will be viewed as a temporary thing not a permanent thing. Which undermines the system for those who are permies rather than daytrippers by devaluing the 'currency' of a GRC in the eyes of society.

The minimum cost is the licence. Don't know what that costs but I can't see it being more than £100. Most people want a bit of a knees up too, of course, and those of us who don't have a Paypal link in our Twitter bio expect to have to save up for the cost over a period of months or years by getting a job.

When I was about 4 we had a 'what I did at the weekend' chat with teacher on the carpet at school.

One kid announced that they went to America for the weekend. (This was pre concord anyway). Teacher tried to persuade the child that this just wasn't possible but the child was adament and her stories grew bigger and more embellished with every sentence (ended up at Disneyland meeting I key house who was a real mouse).
