In fact even better than that, Woman's Place UK and Transgender Trend will be going too.

I (Nicola Williams) will be one of the three women attending in order to answer MP’s questions about how proposed changes to the Gender Recognition Act will affect women’s rights.

Womans Place UK and Fair Play For Women have both requested to meet with Penny Mordaunt, Minister for Women and Equalities, to represent the concerns and questions of the thousands of women who support us, but have not been granted a meeting.

So, we are taking the meeting to the House of Commons to give Penny Mordaunt, and all MPs, the opportunity to meet us, ask questions and hear our views. All they need to do is drop in and meet us. This is the opportunity for MPs to hear the voices of women concerned by these changes and to increase their knowledge about this subject in a calm, confidential environment.

Every MP has received a formal invitation for this meeting but we need YOU to make sure they come. Please email your constituency MP telling them that you support us and ask them to confirm to you that they will attend this meeting.

You can find your MPs details here www.writetothem.com/
Email them this weekend before their diaries get filled. The meeting is just 10 days from now.

Meeting: How will changes to the Gender Recognition Act affect women’s rights? Tuesday 16th October 2018 at 10:30am until 12:30pm in Room S, House of Commons

Thank you for the reminders, emailing mine today having done the consultation yesterday and got that sent in. I spent a long time trying to say what I wanted to say tactfully and in the end thought bugger that and got quite blunt.

Manderleyagain · 09/10/2018 16:35

@DoctorW - have you invited anyone from the Lords (if they are allowed in the HoC? - don't know how it works)? It just struck me that there are a few who have shown some understanding of the issues already, and others who are not career politicians, have had more life experience outside politics than many MPs, and are less afraid of stepping outside the current woke orthodoxy.

TopBitchoftheWitches · 09/10/2018 16:40

I'm going to email my MP with details of the assault I was subject to last year along with the lack of cps action. I'll explain to MP how coming across this man in an area which is meant to be safe for me and my daughters, would have a terrible effect in all of us.

However my MP is the deputy chairman of the conservatives and spends most of his time tweeting ridiculous insults at labour.

I'll let you know.

sorenipples · 09/10/2018 16:54

drafted mine now. May have managed the whole thing without reference to trans. Not deliberate -but underlines how I see this - a women's issue.

Herja · 09/10/2018 18:43

I'm being ignored by Kerry McCarthy. I'll send another one tomorrow.

FoldyRoll · 09/10/2018 19:39

Emailed mine today. Suspect she is or has to say she is in TWAW camp. Kept it short, just urging her to go.

FoldyRoll · 09/10/2018 19:46

Also noted on Twitter a TRA saying " mumsnet, fairplay & other antitrans lobbyists are persuading people to fill in the consultation with scare tactics & mistruths. There are pictures of groups of women around tables, spite-filling the forms against self ID. Take this chance to be a voice of reason."

I am the voice of reason, you are spiteful, they are hate groups. Hmm

HandsOffMyRights · 09/10/2018 20:05

*@DoctorW - have you invited anyone from the Lords

I really want to add the word 'Time' before 'Lords' to make that a very cool sentence DoctorW... Grin

MissAriadneOliver · 09/10/2018 20:07

Just sent mine. I got a bit carried away BlushI hope he gets the main point if it anyway. Am now worrying that I should just have kept it brief and left it to Dr Nic and co to make my points for me! They are bound to do a better job!

MissSusanSays · 09/10/2018 20:08

I’ve just seen via a Facebook friends posts that the TRAs are organising a counter demo. They are posting more and more stuff about the GRA I’m the run up to the deadline. They are bi non-binary and seem to believe all this bullshit.

FekkoTheLawyer · 09/10/2018 20:10

Bi non binary - what? They are just making shit up now...

MissSusanSays · 09/10/2018 20:13

I know. They ‘identified’ as a lesbian for ages and then bi and then had a big coming out as trans (with obligatory pronoun discussion). Then decided transition was too much work so are now non-binary. Plus also a catalogue of other illnesses and lots of posts about being broke and sad. Very, very attention seeking and confused. I feel really bad for them. Nice person really but doesn’t seem to know which way is up.

FekkoTheLawyer · 09/10/2018 20:16

And with the world going to shit, that's their biggest concern?

MissSusanSays · 09/10/2018 20:19

TBH they don’t seem to notice anything past the end of their own nose that isn’t trans issues. I think this is typical of the type. There also seems to be no independent thought.

FekkoTheLawyer · 09/10/2018 20:23

'I don't give a shiney who you shag - OK?. Just don't piss down my back and tell me it's raining'.

I may get this printed on a tshirt.

MissSusanSays · 09/10/2018 20:24

😂🤣

I’d definitely buy one!

WildAndPrecious · 09/10/2018 20:29

Just emailed my local MP. I kept it short, gave a bit of my personal background and described the outlandish experience of going to a women's rights meeting earlier this year picketed by noisy masked demonstrators trying to close the meeting down. I basically urged him to go to the meeting in HOC.

He will no doubt toe the Labour line, but worth trying to make him see another perspective.

charlestonchaplin · 09/10/2018 20:30

I have always thought that in 'business' communications it is best to be concise. By all means try and draw them into the issues but people are busy and I'm not not sure how many have the time or inclination to read very long letters and emails. Though it does demonstrate how passionate you feel so maybe that's a good thing.

Galvantula · 09/10/2018 20:45

No response from mine yet. 🙄

Cheeseandapple · 09/10/2018 21:37

Done!

Rumbledore · 09/10/2018 21:38

My MP who usually responds promptly has thus far not responded. Hmmm Hmm

Queenofthedrivensnow · 09/10/2018 21:57

This is my mp response - not really sure what to to think!
