ACTION: Please contact your MP asap and ask them to attend this meeting on Tuesday 16th October at 10:30am until 12:30pm in Room S, House of Commons

Fair Play For Women, Womans Place UK and Transgender Trend will be holding a joint drop-in session for MPs in the House of Commons. It's an opportunity for them to hear our concerns and ask us questions.

To make sure MPs attend they need you, as their constituents, to tell them it's important and that you want them to go.

So can I ask you all to email your MP saying you have heard this meeting is happening and asking them to confirm if they will be attending. If they get a few constituent emails it will push it up their priority list.

They will have received an invitation to the drop in "How will changes to the Gender Recognition Act affect women’s rights?
Tuesday 16th October 2018 at 10:30am until 12:30pm".

Amazing! Will write.

BernardBlacksWineIcelolly · 05/10/2018 23:37

I will do this!

but tomorrow, when I'm not half a bottle of wine in

don't think i can write anything persuasive in this state!

MrsAird · 05/10/2018 23:49

Done

PencilsInSpace · 06/10/2018 00:05

Bump. I'll do this in the morning.

Serfisafleur · 06/10/2018 00:11

Thank you.
Have sent email to Stella Creasy. I've just realised it's midnight on Friday however so probably not the most effective timing.

QueenYnci · 06/10/2018 00:26

Will do on Monday. My MP has made it very clear where he stands on this (and it isn't with women) but I can try.

Cuntysnark · 06/10/2018 06:26

Just done. I’m meeting my MP on 12th October so will offer a timely reminder.

pennydrew · 06/10/2018 07:14

My MP is Zac Goldsmith. He’s notoriously bad at attending stuff... I have been to meet and talk to him and he was supportive but then wouldn’t commit to anything in writing and won’t raise it unless he has to vote on something and even then he may not turn up 😫

Artesia · 06/10/2018 07:14

Done- thank you so much for drawing attention to this

C0untDucku1a · 06/10/2018 07:15

My mp ignored mt last email but ill send this today.

QuilliamCakespeare · 06/10/2018 07:20

Done!

Farinthepast · 06/10/2018 07:24

Whoever arranged this, well done!

Perfect for me to include with a follow up to the reply I'm going to send to my MP after his copy and paste job about inclusion and respecting everyone's identity.

HandsOffMyRights · 06/10/2018 07:27

Thanks - will email mine.

KateGrey · 06/10/2018 07:32

Done. Ours is a young ish female MP so I hope she goes.

QuilliamCakespeare · 06/10/2018 07:51

Has anyone else done a pitch on why they feel it's so important their MP attends? I've tried to write something compelling without immediately turning her off.... tricky.

RepealtheGRA · 06/10/2018 07:57

I’m hoping this is just a strength in numbers one and lots of the lurkers write?

Should be a quick and easy one, Dear blah,

I understand you’ve received an invitation to (first post) I’m writing to ask that you attend and ask (any question) I am concerned about how this impacts on my/my daughters/mums/sister’s/wife’s rights. I don’t think self ID is a vote winner and I need to know who to vote for.

Regards

Mumsnet lurker

Frankenterfer · 06/10/2018 07:58

I will do this, thanks!

MrsBartlet · 06/10/2018 08:21

Done - thanks!

NoRunAround · 06/10/2018 10:42

Done!

theOtherPamAyres · 06/10/2018 12:00

This is an important test for MPs. Let's do it.

CriticalCondition · 06/10/2018 13:28

Bump.

TerfAndSerf · 06/10/2018 13:42

Done.

Ineedacupofteadesperately · 06/10/2018 14:03

Great. Will do after a piss poor response from my mp that didn't address any of my points he clearly needs to go to this.

Rumbledore · 06/10/2018 15:45

Done. I wrote a long letter to my MP a while back who just asked me to fill in the consultation.

HandsOffMyRights · 06/10/2018 16:29

Done. I attached a link to this week's Spectator feature 'Trans rights have gone wrong' as it's a superb starter for 10.
