ACTION: Please contact your MP asap and ask them to attend this meeting on Tuesday 16th October at 10:30am until 12:30pm in Room S, House of Commons

Fair Play For Women, Womans Place UK and Transgender Trend will be holding a joint drop-in session for MPs in the House of Commons. It's an opportunity for them to hear our concerns and ask us questions.

To make sure MPs attend they need you, as their constituents, to tell them it's important and that you want them to go.

So can I ask you all to email your MP saying you have heard this meeting is happening and asking them to confirm if they will be attending. If they get a few constituent emails it will push it up their priority list.

They will have received an invitation to the drop in "How will changes to the Gender Recognition Act affect women’s rights?
Tuesday 16th October 2018 at 10:30am until 12:30pm".

Will do. I’ve already previously emailed him so have established a connection there.

ifonlyus · 06/10/2018 16:52

What a great opportunity. Yes, I will write to my MP. I haven't as yet, and this will give me a reason to do so. as I will be asking them to do something specific.

ifonlyus · 06/10/2018 16:52

Perhaps change the thread title to make it more specific? Or keep bumping this.

janizary · 06/10/2018 17:13

Unfortunately my MP is openly supportive of the reforms to the GRA, been trying to write something to ask her attend make her think twice re her stance but she's the kind of person who may go and shout them down rather than listen. It feels rather hopeless if I'm honest

fidgetspinner555 · 06/10/2018 17:22

Done

ChrysanthemumsAreMums · 06/10/2018 17:23

You can find your MPs details here www.writetothem.com/

And email direct from there

FlowerpotFairyHouse · 06/10/2018 17:30

I will write to mine.

Somehow I don't think he will be all that concerned though Sad

Destinysdaughter · 06/10/2018 17:46

I only discovered this thread by chance. This is really important, can we change the thread title to be more specific please?

TerfedOff · 06/10/2018 17:47

I think Nik Williams has now started another thread with the same information so maybe we'll let hers be bumped to the top.

There was also a fabulous letter, v detailed, with lots of links, that someone shared on here recently, pp could possibly use that when they make their request?

FlowerpotFairyHouse · 06/10/2018 17:54

Email done. Just preparing to send.

There can be no negative comeback from contacting them can there?
I'm ridiculously anxious about providing my contact details Sad

terryleather · 06/10/2018 17:54

I'll email but my MP is one of those who was at the Fawcett Society Meeting where they agreed that 50% men and 50% they-who-must-be-obeyed would be fair representation for women.

This leads me to believe she's a nugget and there is next to no chance of her listening to GC voices. I'll be very happy to be proved wrong though...

RepealtheGRA · 06/10/2018 19:19

FlowerpotFairyHouse

I’ve emailed several times. All I’ve ever had are polite responses.

AbsintheFriends · 06/10/2018 19:24

I'm going to email.

After her cut and paste Labour 'we believe trans women are women' response last time I'd decided not to waste further time and energy on her (or a vote - though she won her seat by a whisker and I doubt she'll get in again) But this is the perfect reason to renew our acquaintance.

Destinysdaughter · 06/10/2018 19:32

Look these pp work for US. We pay their salaries. Women are half of the electorate, we have an absolute right to demand that our MPs represent us and get some factual information that affects all of us! This is not the time to be timid, stand up for yourselves, your daughters, your friends and family members and all of us. We have truth and numbers on our side, that’s all we need!

Candidpeel · 06/10/2018 19:36

done!

FlowerpotFairyHouse · 07/10/2018 11:48

RepealtheGRA

Thanks. I've done it now. I'm not hopeful though. In the many, many years my MP has held his position, he has voted fewer than a handful of times on women's issues and has voted against them every time...

Ineedacupofteadesperately · 07/10/2018 12:24

Done, also not hopeful given his response. I did stress that my email was invite enough just in case he didn't get one as saying he hadn't received it seems his style (he claimed to have lost my first email even though I have an office autoreply). Getting more angry by the day.

qumquat · 07/10/2018 17:05

Done! and DP has emailed his MP as well (we live separately).
