I don't think Harrop can take this down .....

I don't think the location is ideal but getting the message on another billboard sooner rather than later is the most important thing by far.

The business about the location reminds me of discussions about the "wrong sort of allies". It's probably a good idea to stop becoming too invested in such things. Or we'll end up tying ourselves in knots.

It reminds people that all those who objectify females as sex objects [via the Adult Shop] that females are human too.

Ok, to a large extent I had the image of a massage parlour/strip club in my mind when I read “sex shop”. In that context the ad seemed to be (to the neutral observer in the street) a continuation of the signage for the shop and an advert for the trade available below. So apologies for getting my wires crossed. The selling of goods rather than sexual services does put it in a different context, away from the patriarchy compliant version of woman and I can see the edginess/spikiness in the placement.

I like the irony. At the end of the day though, & given the way things seem to be atm, I think it's more important that the poster stays up, than where it is, tbh.

Someone’s changed the Wikipedia page for women to include trans women. I’m not sure this is old news. I’m sure the last time I checked the definition was the actual, real definition...

I think some are restricted and there seems to be some sort of committee who argue about things and undo edits etc - you can look at the edit history.

The page for my village used to have some fantastic inventions on it but then it got cleaned up to verifiable facts. I don't know how wiki editorship works, wheth they're self appointed or what.

The wiki page for women has a padlock symbol, it's 'protected to prevent vandalism'. Which is good, I think!

From very a quick look, the trans references aren't too overwhelming (might be interesting to see how the men's page compares). From an even quicker glance at recent history the editing isn't totally one sided.

I believe Wiki is another one of those examples of entryism where a number of MRAs/TRAs got in there as a way of manipulating the narrative back when most of us just assumed it was an innocuous online encyclopaedia.

The talk page of Wikipedia documents the bun-fight over the Woman page.

Curiously, though, the Female page remains sensible.

Looking forward to hearing how the people of Birmingham are scared to walk past a sex shop with the dictionary definition of a word on it, though perhaps they are made of sterner stuff than Liverpudlians (controversial )

Also can we stop with the hand wringing about everything? It’s so irritating and wet (Posie needs media training, suffragette colours, billboard on a sex shop). Does it matter if it’s People’s Front of Judea or the Judean People’s Front? Be bold, be brave!
