Most interesting and 100% on point.

SO good. The whole issue in a nutshell. Thanks to Kinesis, and OP for sharing!

newtlover · 30/09/2018 22:20

absolutely
esp where they decry the transwomen=adult human female line

goodthinking99 · 30/09/2018 22:24

This is so refreshing to read. I've always wondered why difference isn't recognised and celebrated.

vivariumvivariumsvivaria · 30/09/2018 22:24

This is brave,

Kinesis is also acknowledging that trans people rarely pass.

That's an extra brave thing to suggest.

FlowerpotFairyHouse · 30/09/2018 22:29

Yep. Totally agree. I too have wondered why we don't celebrate the difference.

Except that we all know the answer.

The Mswer is that the ones pushing for this most aggressively are no more interested in transpeople than they are women.

It's about men's rights and decimating women's rights.

Some people haven't realised that and have just got caught up in it.

Molokonono · 30/09/2018 22:31

I am hoping that the genuine trans people will really start to rail against the toxicity.

Such a great twitter thread.

I'm grateful to Kinesis for that insight into what it's like to be on the receiving end of the "Pronoun enquiry".

Do we want a world where everyone grovels to visibly trans people like we’re bad-tempered invading soldiers?

If I ever feel disgust at my own transness, it’s moments like those. I don’t want to be associated with the kind of person who has a hundred petty meltdowns a day.

I can't fully grasp what it must be like having people round you treating as if you're about to explode in a narcissistic rage at every perceived slight. When you know that's not who you are it must feel like you're being impersonated by someone when you're treated that way - that they've met the evil twin/doppelganger beloved of desperate plot devices.

KlutzyDraconequus · 30/09/2018 22:40

Kinesis is brilliant, her tweets are always honest and insightful.

deepwatersolo · 30/09/2018 22:41

esp where they decry the transwomen=adult human female line

I stumbled upon that tweet in isolation and found it intriguing. Didn't realize it was written by a transwomen. Gives me hope.

littlbrowndog · 30/09/2018 22:43

Yeah it’s the grovelling bit

Seems like government , councils , business es, any official body just falling over themselves to grovel to any trans activist guy
Thanks kinesis great tweets

BeUpStanding · 30/09/2018 22:55

FINALLY! Oh that is just wonderful to read. I would like to buy that person a drink Gin

AngryAttackKittens · 30/09/2018 22:59

Do we want a world where everyone grovels to visibly trans people like we’re bad-tempered invading soldiers?

Kinesis clearly does not, but the majority of the Twitter warriors? I think they'd see that as a perfect world.

AngryAttackKittens · 30/09/2018 23:04

Also, those of us who're older and who have long term connections to the gay community have met people like Kinesis before, and it's why many of us were initially willing to try to reach some sort of compromise with transwomen. And if the trans community mostly consisted of people like that we already would have. Unfortunately, it no longer does, and all the hyper aggressive TRAs have poisoned the well for the decent human beings who just wanted to fade into the woodwork.

Molokonono · 30/09/2018 23:14

Yes and this is the result...when we say it throws genuine trans people under a bus, this is one example.

Keeptrudging · 30/09/2018 23:17

What an excellent, thoughtful thread. It really cuts to the heart of things. It makes for sad reading too, as previous goodwill is being trashed by a group of TRAs shouting 'jump' just for the sheer power kick of watching people say 'how high'.

PlatypusPie · 30/09/2018 23:24

What a thoughtful, reasonable, forward thinking thread !

IdaBWells · 30/09/2018 23:30

Wonder why women are expected to be "natural" allies? I think most women are pretty liberal and tolerant in their treatment of others but with the extreme bullying and aggression of the likes of Dr. Harrop who is not even trans they are chasing off and alienating women, allies or not.

Once they tell us to lie and say "women can have penises" and "TWAW" and try and force us to deny reality through fear and intimidation, as Kenesis says it backfires spectacularly.

KnitFastDieWarm · 30/09/2018 23:31

Kinesis is brave and awesome and I want to personally take her to the pub and buy her an expensive drink while we rage tipsily against how fucking ridiculous this whole situation is for rational people of all and any gender expression Grin

WichBitchHarpyTerfThatsMe · 30/09/2018 23:52

That's a breath of fresh air. I'd be quite happy to sit down with a person like that and try and discuss ways forward for them and their community.

When I encounter a person displaying genuine respect and understanding for other people I automatically respond in kind. Courage calls to courage and respect calls to respect.

KatVonGulag · 01/10/2018 17:23

That was a good read and one I needed.
Thank you Kinesis

NopeNi · 01/10/2018 17:34

Kinesis, if you're reading, I want to say thanks for speaking up.

It's also something I haven't given a lot of thought to but it's an actual new kind of "transphobia" isn't it? (As in, people have an actual fear of you now because of how you might react to something.)

It must be horrible to feel like people are walking on eggshells around you so much.

I really hope that we can collectively shift the narrative and stop this nonsense.

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 01/10/2018 17:38

Brilliant.
So many good points there.
I love the line about bad tempered invading soldiers. Spot on.

Insertwitticismhere · 01/10/2018 17:41
