www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-6222859/Guide-leader-says-sacked-telling-bosses-new-transgender-policies-pose-risk.html

Really clear and in depth and explains exactly what the concerns are. I really do think that the reporting around this issue is becoming much more favourable towards the gender critical concerns which seems hopeful.

Really great article. Helen is a brilliant communicator

MnerXX · 30/09/2018 08:56

Just saw this on Twitter. Absolutely brilliant article!

BlardyBlar · 30/09/2018 09:25

It’s a great article. Thanks again to Helen for raising this so clearly. You are one of the voices of reason that really reach people.

But I am so sick of this disingenous rhetoric:

“Last night a Girlguiding spokeswoman insisted that keeping girls safe was the ‘number one priority’. She added: ‘As an organisation, we pride ourselves on caring for every individual. Simply being transgender does not make someone more of a safeguarding risk than any other person.’

No, but being MALE makes the safeguarding risk different from being FEMALE.

TerfedOff · 30/09/2018 09:30

The comments so far 100% supportive which confirms what we know. The majority of the population of the country are not in favour of these kind of policies.

It's a superb article. It lays out the issues really clearly.

And can we note the excellent work Sanchez Manning has been doing for the Mail on Sunday? We've given a lot of praise to Janice Turner and James Kirkup, but Sanchez has been tirelessly reporting on this issue for some time without real acknowledgement.

ChrysanthemumsAreMums · 30/09/2018 09:39

Yes. The Mail on Sunday articles by Sanchez have been really well-written

BernardBlacksWineIcelolly · 30/09/2018 09:51

all this Trans Demands nonsense has changed my views on many things, not least the Daily Mail and MoS. I hate that lazy sneer people have towards the Mail, thinking it makes them cool and progressive.

Plurality in the press is essential. I really don't enjoy reading most of the Mail, but I'm still bloody glad it's there.

LangCleg · 30/09/2018 10:05

Reading that, I just want to say a huge thank you to Agnes, who has been tireless, done so much and put up with so much traducing of her motives and character.

All the Flowers for Agnes.

Popchyk · 30/09/2018 10:07

Yes, The Mail and The Times have been the ones at the forefront of this. The Spectator as well of course.

Strange really as it goes against current government policy which is in support of self-ID (even before the consultation goes out).

Brilliant work from some people on here to get to this stage - like Agnes herself who has bravely spoken out. At great personal cost.

I didn't realise that the bastards at GG had prepared a confession for Agnes to sign. In what world do they think that would ever be acceptable?

redshoeblueshoe · 30/09/2018 10:10

Very good article.

TallulahWaitingInTheRain · 30/09/2018 10:26

Sanchez Manning's gc articles are always meticulously researched and beautifully clear.

And Helen is a hero

BernardBlacksWineIcelolly · 30/09/2018 10:28

oh yes, good point lang

Agnes, you are magnificent. the amount of shit you're taking for centring women and girls is so unfair, but we see what you're doing and admire you for it

hackmum · 30/09/2018 11:04

I didn't realise that the bastards at GG had prepared a confession for Agnes to sign.

The whole business is really reminiscent of Stalinism, isn't it? The confession, the fifth columnist in the private group, the insistence that the Guides have "always" welcomed transgender girls.

rainbowgrimm · 30/09/2018 11:17

Agnes, thank you. You are a brave & highly articulate woman.

Beerincomechampagnetastes · 30/09/2018 11:19

Great article Flowers thanks Agnes.

invisibleoldwoman · 30/09/2018 11:25

A ‘confession’!!! I’ve commented on the article and shared it on Facebook. Never thought I’d see day when I was sharing a DM article and commenting 😮

AgnesBadenPowell · 30/09/2018 11:27

Hello! I was lurking in FWR to catch up on what I'd missed this week (busy does not even begin to describe it) and spotted this.

I'm pleased with article. I spent a lot of time with Sanchez. She's very, very good at listening and getting the salient points across.

Had to do the obligatory slightly sad faced picture but it was a nice excuse to get my old Brownie sash out! I loved being in GG so much as a child, read my handbook almost every day and some of my happiest childhood memories are from Brownies.

There's a few minor errors - I wasn't in GG for 26 years, it was 26 years ago that I joined Brownies! But doesn't change the point or detract from the actual story so, whatever.

Thanks for all the support Thanks.

breastfeedingclownfish · 30/09/2018 11:33

Thanks for speaking out Agnes, you are as brave as fuck and I salute you.

I actually gasped when I read that they had prepared a confession for you to sign. It doesn't get more authoritarian than that. I don't even know what else to say because I'm so stunned by that.

Have some Flowers and lots of Gin

NopeNi · 30/09/2018 11:34

You're amazingly brave Agnes: thank you for putting yourself (literally) in the firing line like this.

AgnesBadenPowell · 30/09/2018 11:43

Yep - I was sent a pre prepared witness statement by the investigator before they had even interviewed me. It was attached to a list of written questions I was sent, so I obviously hadn't answered those when the statement was drafted.

NotMeOhNo · 30/09/2018 11:48

Well done Agnes Flowers

placemats · 30/09/2018 11:49

Thank you Agnes. Brave and courageous. Flowers

You are helping women to speak out.

Popchyk · 30/09/2018 11:55

So they sent a prepared confession for you to sign before they had even investigated? Presumably the investigator is an internal GG person?

Just gets worse.

misscockerspaniel · 30/09/2018 12:22

Agnes/Helen thank you. I am in awe of you and Man Friday, Posie, Liverpool Re-sisters et al.
