Hey you lot,

I don't come here often enough. I realised talking to women last night that lots of you who came up to speak to me were mumsnetters and I have always been so mouthy on Twitter .... and I'm so useless at using Mumsnet that I forget the amazing platform you have here and how much support you offer to women like myself.

So - a bit of a post about nothing really. Feel free to remove it. I just wanted to say .... I felt the Mumsnet love and it was warm and comforting. Cheers women x

And cheers to you jeanhatchet You've been a legend in this neck of the woods for many a year. Flowers

We're big fans Jean.

Mumsnet is like the eye of the storm.
It is enabling this discussion to take place in full view of the public.
Noone needs to be 'friends' or 'followers' or 'subscribers'. It is not an enclave or a bubble. Anyone can read, anyone can join, anyone can post. All the discussions are right there, both sides of the debate, accessible to the entire nation. Actually, no, the world.

Keeping this public discourse going and available is critical. There is nowhere else like it on the internet.

I'm not even sure Mumsnet Towers themselves are fully aware of the magnitude of global importance of this public conversation.

Really glad to have you with us

silentcrow · 29/09/2018 15:19

Jean, I was sitting right at the back, tears pouring down my face as you spoke. I've just pulled a close relative out of a relationship that was coercive and threatening to go violent. I had to stand with her like a bodyguard as she threw him out. She has somewhere to go, thank all the gods, but we still have had to get legal advice from Women's Aid and so on. I'm both enraged and desperately upset at the idea of women's services selling out and putting all of us in danger.

Thank you for all the tireless work and words you share. I think I can probably presume to speak for pretty much everyone here when I say we're here if you need us.

Seconded.

Cheers, Jean and thank you for everything. Always sending good wishes your way.

I have just been sitting at home watching your talk last night on YouTube. It was galvanising and inspirational.
Thank you for everything you do.

Cuntysnark · 29/09/2018 15:59

I was too in awe to speak to you but I was the woman dragging Jacky Holyoake away rather late, in the pub, as we had a 2/3 hour drive home. You were incredible, are incredible. I had some hair envy going on at your ‘swish’.

SophoclesTheFox · 29/09/2018 16:05

Hey Jean, massive fistbump to you. You're welcome round these parts any time - you have quite the fanclub here Grin

Much love to you, Jean. You are amazing. Flowers

PositivelyPERF · 29/09/2018 16:20

Thank you for having the courage to speak out for the protection of women and children, Jean. I didn’t think at my age (50) that I would be despairing for the future of young females. Amazing people think you give me hope.

PositivelyPERF · 29/09/2018 16:20

Amazing people ‘like’ you give me hope.

Prawnofthepatriarchy · 29/09/2018 16:21

Sending love and my profound admiration, Jean. Star

Datun · 29/09/2018 16:29

You're an inspiration Jean.

Twelve million unique users per month on mumsnet. And, according to a thread that mumsnet HQ have started themselves, they mostly end up here. On feminism.

Whatever you say here, an awful lot of people are listening.

silentcrow · 29/09/2018 16:35

Thank you, Jean...I didn't really do anything except lurk menacingly Grin it was all her courage. I've sent her the link and both DH and I have read the book. I don't think she'll take him back, she's got out in time.
