This person was just mentioned on a threat were I mentioned Karen White.

I had not heard of them, so googled. Zero results (which is weird, in itself).

Can anyone shed any light for me? Do I have their name correct?

Richard Garside? He's had quite a lot to say about trans prisoners.

I hadn't heard of Richard Grattage (despite posting on that thread).

If you're interested in knowing how we got here (men in women's prisons), this article tells you quite a lot.

www.newlawjournal.co.uk/content/law-reports-106

The claimant was seeking gender reassignment surgery; however, the gender identity clinic treating her would not approve her gender reassignment surgery until she had spent a period living “in role” as a woman in a female prison.

The decision to retain the claimant in the male prison barred her ability to qualify for surgery which interfered with her personal autonomy in a manner which went beyond that which imprisonment was intended to do.

Preventing a transfer was likely to frustrate the claimant and lead to an increase in her risk profile.

A violent male criminal was then transferred to a women's prison. The human rights of the female prisoners were not considered.

I just had a look at Grattage's google plus page and really wish I hadn't :(
