Snochia is transgender. No idea if they were born male or female but we can't discuss male pattern violence or why transmen commit violence at the same rates as men (and transwomen) because these words don't have any meaning now.

I think so too. So why are they referring to her as a "she" if she identifies as transgender? We all know this would never happen if the person was a trans woman, even if they were clearly male.

Because of the aforementioned double standard.

I have been gobsmacked at some of the mugshots for female criminals and the verbal gymnastics carried out by reporters and police. 'She was described at 6'3 with a beard'

Given the generally sympathetic tone of the article and the people quoted, I'd say this is a transwoman who they are being careful not to 'misgender'.

The double standard is a thing. I think this is a woman and they don't care about misgendering women.

Reporting a trans woman as a woman yet also a trans man as a woman allows people to gleefully proclaim "see, women are just as violent" and "women do it too" in both instances and also gets added to the "female" crime statistics I presume. You'd almost start to wonder is it a calculated effort to skew the data...

What confirmation though? We may well not get any confirmation because it will go down as however the police decide to define it. Part of the thread though was discussing why transmen don't get the same consideration in reporting which is both a trans issue and a feminist issue as it's specific to female transpeople. Intersectionality. It's important.

I find it pointless to speculate on individual cases.

The problem is that everyone is speculating because the words man and woman have had their meaning eroded in the press.

But not in the public (although it's getting there).

Most people would have read "woman rapes and kills 20 men" for eg at face value last year.

Now I think more would think... "Hmmmm"...

Problem is the news can no longer be taken as factual and people are left to draw their own conclusions, which will be different depending on who they are.

The loss of trust that facts will be reported is a massive issue and ties in well with all the stuff with trump telling bald faced lies, russian bots spreading all sorts of misinfformation etc. We are on a road to no-one knowing what's up or down any more and so reverting to just having beliefs and consuming messages that support them and ignoring messages that refute them. Confirmation bias gone global and with all news outslets.

This is an end of civilsation scenario.

The fact that teh crime stats are fucked is so incredibly disamying, that authorities all over teh world are colluding in the obfuscation of what is happening, the result is a cover up of male violence.

All major media organisations know that 'woman' no longer has meaning when they use it it any kind of report, crime, stats, business or otherwise. Rather than seeing the error of their ways, they will deploy this lack of meaning to argue for the introduction and normalisation of the prefix 'c*s'.

This is where we are at. When we say woman no longer means what it used to, they will twist it against us and say that's an argument for using 'c*s'.
