Looks like his maleness was has worked for him and he gets to be recognised as a top female too.

Just why?

Our images are carefully cultivated and without exception seem to default to "generically attractive but cold as ice". That's because we get penalised for being unattractive but also for being perceived as sexual.

This is interesting - I have no experience of the corporate world it it puts me in mind of Portia De Rossi’s character on ‘Better off Ted’.

She’s brilliant, clever and just as evil as any successful man in the company but to pass as one of them wears sharp suits and scrapes back her hair. Whenever anyone sees her with her hair down out of work it’s met with incredulity - how can she be equivalent to the men and also pretty?

Turns out, if you want to dress pretty AND be as successful as the men in a high powered workplace, you have to ACTUALLY BE A MAN. Thanks Pip, for making it all so clear.

Blimey, I missed Datun's post before it got deleted but if you deleted it MNHQ (and she didn't ask for it to be removed) then you're probably on the wrong side of history as I have never seen her be anything other than measured, civil, calm, honest and evidence based. If you're censoring women like her then not sure what chance the rest of us have of staying within the rules.

He liked his own tweet Grin

Crackpots Grin you win MN today! Must be the flipped hemisphere of the brain again.

Ereshkigal · 21/09/2018 12:09

Exactly littl!

SophoclesTheFox · 21/09/2018 12:15

Strong disagree with the deletions on this thread.

The absolute point of discussing Pip is because of the depth and breadth of his piss taking. It's hard to stay civil when Pip's motivations are so transparent to the women here, and when Pip call us T*RFs.

An YY to the carefully cultivated non-sexual generic attractiveness required from women like me in similar roles to Pip. I would be shown the door so quick my ladyhead would spin if I posted on social media about dressing up to go to a fetish event. Double fucking standard.

theOtherPamAyres · 21/09/2018 12:19

Man with transvestite hobby/fetish is in the Top 100 of women?

No wonder the financial services sector is fecked.

Ineedacupofteadesperately · 21/09/2018 12:20

Hmm, if P Bunce is accepting womens' awards I guess that means P Bunce has faced discrimination because of potential pregnancy, actual pregnancy or maternity. You know, that whole bit of being a women that leads to the most discrimination, which (pregnancy and maternity) is also the time when I personally felt the least like wearing uncomfortable party frocks and makeup.

I wish these men could be forced to cope with all the shit women get like discrimination because of reproductive potential. I'd also like to force them to go to work for at least 2 months with morning sickness and / or SPD. P Bunce has no fucking clue - I pity any women working for him.

FermatsTheorem · 21/09/2018 12:22

No wonder the financial services sector is fecked.

One of the funniest tweets on Credit Suisse's twitter feed is someone saying something along the lines of "well, I suppose the credibility of your diversity policy is up there with the performance of your company" (i.e. both a bit shit).

nauticant · 21/09/2018 12:22

We'll remove any posts that speculate on sexual fetishism

Why don't you have a look at this HebeMumsnet?

@MNHQ this individual is the story. This person is a man some days and a woman on others. How on earth do we not discuss the absolute mindfuck of that?

I note also that FT have not allowed comments on this story. Wondering why.

TimeForDebate · 21/09/2018 12:28

I don't know how to do links to posts in Twitter but India Willoughby is insulted by this story.

Does this link work?

I think I'm going to consider it a badge of honour for being deleted on this particular thread. You couldn't find a clearer example of pointing out the fucking obvious than this Bunce saga.

The dude doesn't even call himself a woman according to his twitter bio.

Great when you can be a proud father, lucky husband and a top female CEO all at the same time. So much wonderful progression for women.

TerfsUp · 21/09/2018 12:36

In what way is Bunce a woman?

SophoclesTheFox · 21/09/2018 12:37

I bloody love it when a fight breaks out under the umbrella about who is the womaniest woman Grin

Who's in Pip's corner against India? Anyone?

I'm not on twatter - please do update when the rest of the spokes of the umbrella weigh in...

Datun · 21/09/2018 12:37

HQ is your problem that people are saying cross dressing and transvestism is a fetish?

Is it the word fetish?

Because someone is pulling the wool over your eyes.

Transvestic disorder is a specific paraphilic disorder in which the individual is sexually aroused by the act of cross-dressing as the opposite gender, and yet finds the act of dressing and the resulting arousal distressing (The American Psychiatric Association, 2013).

www.theravive.com/therapedia/transvestic-disorder-dsm--5-302.3-(f65.1)

fetish
ˈfɛtɪʃ/Submit
noun
1.
a form of sexual desire in which gratification is linked to an abnormal degree to a particular object, item of clothing,

It's exactly what it is. I expect you're getting in the neck for women acknowledging this.

So instead, I'll leave you with the event that Princess Pippa writes about, and the narration by the people running it. Nothing to do with me, or my words. Link from the post above.

"Holly organised a rota of 4 hour stints. I can’t manage more than one a day as I have hostess duties at home that are also tiring. We had plenty of chances to see the burlesque turns: Ophelia Bitz introduced the masochistic Bambi Blue, the very shiny Missa Blue, the breathtaking Miss Miranda (who also models 50s style lingerie for What Katy Did, a wonderful emporium for all that’s retro in lingerie - and don’t we just love her for it?), the high-energy Aurora Galore with the delectable behind, and the amazingly talented and amusing Cairo Mascara whose turn as Jessica Rabbit has altered my view of carrots for ever (look her up on You Tube for a version of her performance)."

GenerationEx · 21/09/2018 12:39

Ok, finally delurking. I almost delurked in response to the ignorant Sussex grad trying to educate the masses of Mumsnet but got side tracked. This however is just too much.

I don’t mind this “Pips” promoting diversity and wearing a dress. Whatever. Live and let live. I do mind a lot, the belittling of what it is actually like being a senior woman in a male dominated financial services industry.

I bet he wasn’t sexually harassed in his 20s by sleazy seniors playing the power card. I’m guessing he never was held back in his 30s because he was of child bearing age, or only had one child so “couldn’t be done yet”. I definitely know he didn’t have to work a stressful, senior job through complicated pregnancies and return to work within months of giving birth. I also know that he has never had to go to the loos to express milk so his child could still benefit from breast milk whilst in childcare. These are some of the issues women in my city networks are up against when trying to advance their careers. The fact that they manage to advance their careers, despite this, should be what these kind of awards should recognise. Instead one of these amazing women has missed out to a bloke who has reduced women’s achievement to a pair of high heels and a dress. Awesome.

Datun · 21/09/2018 12:39

I want this thread to stand, so I will no longer use the word fetish in relation to this story.

Datun · 21/09/2018 12:40

I agree. But you'll never get it, because in order to award it, you'd have to acknowledge it.
