Just that really. I'm sorry I can't link right now.
It states that the government have ordered an investigation.

Ha. I don’t think it needs a government investigation to work that one out. Feminists could have told them why ages ago. But of course whenever we bang on about gender stereotypes and their harmful effects on girls people tell us we’re overthinking. Hmm

Rebecca36 · 16/09/2018 06:00

I'm surprised that so many girls want to be boys.
All the girls I know are more than happy to be girls, they enjoy it, as did I. There's very little nowadays that a woman cannot achieve. I honestly can't think of anything.

Well it is the Daily Mail.

scepticalwoman · 16/09/2018 06:52

Excellent article and about time that the government took some action. I wonder how long before the cries of transphobia start from the hypocrites who demand self ID for middle aged men but insist that our children must be medicated and mutilated.
Hopefully it will include examining the scope of trans lobby groups going into schools gaslighting children and telling teachers to ignore safeguarding for this vulnerable group,

ChiaraRimini · 16/09/2018 06:55

There's a typo in the headline-it says 4% increase but they mean 4000.
What has the world come to when the Mail is the voice of reason.

TransposersArePosers · 16/09/2018 07:16

Is there any way to contact the online edition directly and point out the headline error?

4% is not an attention grabber, 4000% is horrifying

Stickerladiesoftheworldunite · 16/09/2018 07:19

Thanks for the share for The Times.

**Last night a source at the Government Equalities Office said: “There has been a substantial increase in the number of individuals assigned female at birth being referred to the NHS.

“There is evidence that this trend is happening in other countries as well. Little is known, however, about why this is and what are the long-term impacts.”**

EW, so the Equalities Office is even using the phrase 'assigned female at birth'

Little is known, however, about why this is

Penny, we know. WE TELL YOU ALL THE TIME.

Stickerladiesoftheworldunite · 16/09/2018 07:22

And, Penny, do you think bringing in those changes to self ID, allowing men to ride further roughshod over females - endorsing that - will bring this figure down?

scepticalwoman · 16/09/2018 07:22

The government are totally complicit with this. They've been funding trans lobby groups for ages now to work in schools. When you actually look at the stuff they're saying in schools it's a disgrace!

I'm not signed up so I can't post but somebody ought to point out that nobody is 'assigned female at birth' and, more to the point, perpetuating this myth is one of the major causes in the rise of transgenderism.

Twitter? Everyone needs to tweet them

JoggerBottom · 16/09/2018 07:50

Thank you for posting the link Tartle.

It is interesting that absolutely everyday there is some sort of GC article on certain news websites, but they don't ever link or discuss the consultation. There was one comment in about 500 yesterday on the KW article that suggested completing it.

OP posts:
JoggerBottom · 16/09/2018 07:55

Being critical here, but I bet they are only doing research now because it is making the hole in third NHS purse a little bigger.

OR maybe they are starting to take notice ( after tireless and sensible campaigning) but will approach a group like Mermaids to do the lions share of the research.

Excellent news. And a really good piece. Well done, Mail on Sunday.

Destinysdaughter · 16/09/2018 08:13

Wow there’s actually some very sensible comments underneath the article too. Most ordinary pp are horrified by this.

ArtemisWeatherwax · 16/09/2018 08:16

They are also running one about a FGM clinic with only a few patients. Oh the irony.

noeffingidea · 16/09/2018 08:16

Always knew this would be the sticking point for the UK. That and trans rapists/sex predators in women's jails.

BabyTeeth · 16/09/2018 08:20

Social media has ‘popularised’ (pushed) it - didn’t social media /smart phones really take off in 2008/9.

Starkstaring · 16/09/2018 08:28

This is an issue affecting a marginalised group (young women and girls with neurodevelopmental and/or mental health problems) but somehow The Guardian isn't interested in reporting it.

I'm another one finding it very strange to be thankful for the Daily Mail/Mail on Sunday.

Yes let's hope it's a meaningful study. And that it looks at young adults as well as teenagers.

SophoclesTheFox · 16/09/2018 08:36

Absolutely we need to hold TPTB's feet to the fire over pantomining that they don't understand how this is happening.

We are telling you how it is happening! Take your fingers out your ears and LISTEN. Feminists are crystal-fucking-clear on how this is happening. Listen.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 16/09/2018 08:45

Hopefully, this will provide a means for HCPs to formally (and without fear of prejudice) voice their concerns and hopefully they will be listened to.

Stickerladiesoftheworldunite · 16/09/2018 08:54

I'm not going to preface any Daily Mail references that nod to its reputation or politics.

This paper has the courage to call out abuse. To conduct investigative journalism, to call a transwoman a man.

If apologies are needed save them for The Guardian.

astoundedgoat · 16/09/2018 08:59

Are there any stats about anorexia at the moment? I wonder how many of girls who are claiming to be trans (scarcely any of whom will identify as such in 3 years unless some lunatic has started "treating" them) would have suffered from - or been drawn to - anorexia or bulimia 5 years ago?

There are also links between being trans and autism and now possibly between anorexia and autism also.

There is a lot going on with teenage girls in general - historically they have always been the ones most on board with things like this, dating back to the Middle Ages.

To actually start pitching surgery and sterilising medical treatment is like something out of a horror story.

The 4000% increase is because we've ADVERTISED it to them and the transactivists have had government funding to promote it heavily, not because of an uptick in genuine gender dysphoria. It would be like Nike saying "since the Kaepernick ad we've had a 40% increase in sales. WHAT COULD POSSIBLY HAVE CAUSED IT???"
