At the Women's Equality Party Conference, a born male is thrilled to tell you that:-

Pleased to report that @SophieRunning* & I have won the first big vote of the day. We will not be railroaded into taking a vote on whether trans women are women. We will have discussions on trans issues respectfully, and with trans members involved. We will have discussions on trans issues respectfully, and with trans members involved*

Unless these issues are about transmen, why does the Women's Equality Party Conference have to discuss trans issues?

Trans people had a conference this weekend.

No women that I'm aware of rocked up to demand women's issues were discussed.

Is there no place that women are allowed to discuss women's issues without having to consider trans issues?

Is there no place where women are allowed to gather without a trans perspective?

Nope, not even on this topic on this forum.

littlbrowndog · 09/09/2018 23:06

Feckers can’t bare to be left out on anything that women are in

Puir feckery

DodoPatrol · 09/09/2018 23:07

Oh. I read that as they weren’t going to vote on it as the answer would be ‘no’.

Sadly, you are right bejazzled.

It's not allowed for this biological half of the human race to discuss itself, and only itself Not even on mumsnet.

We don't even get our own word.

LightofaSilveryMoon · 09/09/2018 23:11

There is no party I can vote for, at the moment.

ToeToToe · 09/09/2018 23:13

Males have infiltrated feminism very successfully - where the men's rights movement failed - and even have a sector of women cheering them on in the name of trans-equality. The effect is the same though - trans rights activism is just men's rights activism by another name - the objective is male rights over females. And for females to have no place to go away from males. And now, no language to describe what is happening to them.

There was and excellent tweet aimed at Dr Haddock recently - in response to Haddock preaching what feminism was. I've just looked back and it's gone - the whole account is gone. So presumably Haddock has worked his magic on twitter and got her banned. But the gist of it was "fuck off telling women how to do feminism when you're a man".

I'm staggered that this has happened so quickly. But I'm heartened that we in the UK are standing up to it - in ways that, say, Canada and Ireland just haven't been able to.

pombear · 09/09/2018 23:20

I'm off to bed, but thanks Toe, your statement below is my sleeptime mantra.

To all women, public, private, online, offline, stickers, conversations, letters to MPs, meeting MPs, attending meet ups, or just adding a post to this thread, all essentially saying:-

"fuck off telling women how to do feminism when you're a man"

Ha - perhaps we should just call ourselves the clitterati. Grin

And tell men everyone to just fuck right off.

Dr "I'm right, I just AM" Haddock is first on the list. Haddock - just fuck off.

ToeToToe · 09/09/2018 23:43

Sorry for the slight de-rail there. This should really be about the WEP. I may come up with something sensible to say about them tomorrow. Maybe.

FloralBunting · 09/09/2018 23:47

This is the problem with these endeavours - get a sniff near any kind of power, and the swarm descends. It's really quite astonishing that a Women's Equality Party is actually having trouble because it's male members are telling women to shut up.

And now I'm going to have a nightmare about male members telling women to shut up.

tiredandweary · 10/09/2018 00:00

That comment is so very .... male ? No empathy, insight or care but oh so much arrogance, entitlement and aggression. All aimed at women. The irony ...

theOtherPamAyres · 10/09/2018 00:36

WEP fail.

The obstruction stops WEP from formulating a position to contribute to the GRA. It puts the brake on a policy. The focus will be on accommodating trans identifying men rather than on the needs of women and girls.

Members aren't allowed a vote on it, as the way the voting would swing would be very very very obvious. Noone believes that male people are female, not even the male people themselves. Hence 'nodebate', though it seems in this instance, the debate was preferable to a vote. So at least its being spoke about.

BabySharkDoododoo · 10/09/2018 16:30

Mind just looking at Sophies twitter..this is promising

twitter.com/SophieRunning/status/1039056503355961346

A debate is happening, much against the wishes of TRAs. Nodebate no more. The climate of fear appears to be lifting a little, and as the topic gets much needed oxygen, and more people find out what actually very nearly happened on the sly..the way that this will go is obvious to me.

BiologyIsReal · 10/09/2018 16:37

Interesting how there are often comments under articles reporting trans gender stuff e.g. the thread discussing the way trans women won the first prizes in a woman's race, saying something like "you wanted equality now you have it".

Makes me wonder how much of this trans rubbish is more about hatred of women's rights (which of course falls under the heading of misogyny) as compared to genuine gender dysphoria (minuscule amount) or AGP (large amount).

These "equality" comments seem to be a way of saying "be careful what you wish for... or nah nah na nah nah" in other words.

BabySharkDoododoo · 10/09/2018 16:42

These "equality" comments seem to be a way of saying "be careful what you wish for... or nah nah na nah nah" in other words.

Thats exactly what it is.

JackyHolyoake · 11/09/2018 06:48

These AGP paraphilic males who have modified themselves hate women very deeply because they know they can never be us despite any and all modifications they try to make to themselves.

Every day they look in the mirror and see the male they are. They know they are male yet demand the rest of us lie to them and ourselves. Not doing that! Ever!

Not giving an inch!

deepwatersolo · 11/09/2018 08:05

regarding Cheryl's post event blog

'In the meantime, another member had proposed an amendment to the motion. To the untrained eye it looked fairly inocuous, but I could see that if we passed that amendment we would immediately lose the confidence of the trans community and its allies.'

Sounds like a demand everyone walk on eggshells.

One of the points that people kept making is that there are biological differences between trans women your average cis woman. On the face of it, that is entirely true, and one speaker emphasised the importance of recognising those differences so that trans people can get the correct medical treatment. The problem is that as soon as you conceed that point it gets spun into being radically anti-trans. The existence of some biological differences is taken as proof that trans women are not, and never can be, women.

Sounds like the Truth that can't be spoken.

And this is why we should not have the discussion on social media, or in a short, adversarial debate.

Ideally no debate at all, maybe?

This is deliberate gaslighting and suppression of obvious truths in order to get access to privileges that would be off limits, were the obvious truth ever loudly acknowledged. Kafkaesque.

nonplussedinouterspace · 11/09/2018 08:10

To be fair, it's not as if trans issues weren't going to be front and centre on the agenda. You weren't being forced to discuss them ahead of a different topic.

nonplussedinouterspace · 11/09/2018 08:11

And this doesn't sound like trans women talking. This sounds like other women with a view you don't like.

Ereshkigal · 11/09/2018 08:12

Sounds like a demand everyone walk on eggshells.

As always.
