Clarification on who and what we can discuss

Clearly Lily is on the no list.

I would like clarification from MNHQ as to why we can’t discuss Lily, who else we can’t discuss and what we can’t discuss.

Two threads regarding Lily’s public posts on twitter have been deleted this evening. According to MNHQ these were deleted for being a personal attack and a pile on. However, HQ will be aware of a thread discussing boris Johnston, a thread discussing Colleen Nolan, and one discussing Roxanne Pallett. All of which have been far from complimentary. All allowed to stand.

There would appear to be different standards being applied according to who is being discussed.

I’ve reported this thread in the hope that HA will address this issue and provide clarification. I also ask that this thread does not become a thread about Lily as it will be deleted. This thread is for clarification about what we can discuss and not a TAAT.

FFS

Can you just remember what you're JOKING about here?
Remember a ten year old girl?

BarrackerBarmer · 09/09/2018 01:21

You've misunderstood EvidenceBased
This does not relate to what you think it does.

BarrackerBarmer · 09/09/2018 01:38

Hollowtalk no. I wouldn't reference the evil criminal you have in mind in this way.

RosemaryHoight · 09/09/2018 02:01

I've been on here for 12+ years and have seen loads of Katie Price bashing. Lots of women who have had surgery actually. And some men.

What we have never had time for is a man who you have to walk on eggshells around. They tend to get a ltb.

SuburbanRhonda · 09/09/2018 07:24

Please dont post negative comments about LM on this thread or it will be zapped.

Is that how it works now? What happened to the tried and trusted rule of deleting posts that break talk guidelines?

Ereshkigal · 09/09/2018 07:35

Ereshkigal, it's late, I'm up for work in six hours and I have a chest infection. Plus I think I have caught babybrain from all the new mums on FWR. Being a woman is a terrible affliction.

I was only joking, sorry Floral Thanks feel better.

PeakPants · 09/09/2018 07:37

What happened to the Natacha Kennedy one? I posted on it and then it was gone and there wasn’t even a deletion message.

Ereshkigal · 09/09/2018 07:40

A different one to this one Peak?

The Times - smear campaign by trans lecturer at Goldsmiths

NotTerfNorCis · 09/09/2018 08:07

Maybe it’s best we don’t discuss LM at all.

I agree, unless LM does anything politically significant. Nothing we say here is going to get through to certain people - all we're doing is giving attention to someone who craves it but who will distort what we say and turn it against us.

PeakPants · 09/09/2018 09:33

Thanks Ereshki! I must have idiotically hidden it by mistake. It wasn’t coming up on my ‘threads i’m on’, so I thought it had gone. Blush

ItsNotUnusualToBe · 09/09/2018 09:38

My favourite brand of cloth nappy was BumGenius.

ItsNotUnusualToBe · 09/09/2018 09:38

Ooops. Ring thread

ItsNotUnusualToBe · 09/09/2018 09:39

Wrong! Dammit.

As they say- autocorrect I hate your shirt.

MsBeee · 09/09/2018 09:49

Ok, There are some threads about LM that are still standing and yes it is inappropriate for a women officer to tweet about photographing their breasts, but I wonder if we are giving fodder to claims of victimhood.
And yes if any other women officer had done it, she would have been vilified.

However I think it would be much better if we concentrate on stuff like the tweet response to Karen White, now taken down, but deeply concerning.

Personally I think Labour are appalling and using LM for their own ends. Clearly LM has no clue. LM has schizophrenia ( this tweeted by LM ) and needs support and can not manage the responsibilities.

RogerAllamsFangirl · 09/09/2018 09:57

I thought the title of the thread was poorly thought out. It looked awful on the feminism chat topic board list. MN is bound to be coming under legal pressure over the trans debate - we're having such a noticeable effect now.

If you want to discuss high profile trans people in what is clearly a controversial way (and yes I did read the thread and I do get the point etc) then MN isn't the place to do it, frankly. It may be a different standard from the rest of the site but it's also a different level of public scrutiny and a different risk for MN. That's just life IMO.

MsBeee · 09/09/2018 10:08

Yes we are under scrutiny, don't give them fodder, and yes it is a double standard, but thinking back to when I first came to FWR, if I had seen the thread and title, I may have concluded that you were all meanies.

I was pro selfID when I first heard about it, didn't get it. I came here and "got educated". So lets concentrate on the stuff that is really going to shift perceptions.

Don't underestimate the power of what we are doing here.

It appears to be suburban. Different rules for different people.

SPOFS · 09/09/2018 14:08

When they go low, we go high.

I don't want to be on their level. Let's not give them ammunition. There is plenty to criticize LM for, their appearance isn't one of them.

IfIWasABirdIdFlyIn2ACeilingFan · 09/09/2018 14:25

Again spofs, it wasn’t about their appearance. Not at all.

For those confused about the Pampers this is the 'fursona' of a certain former Green politician.

Also I would like to add 'right-sized cock' to the list. I believe they are a Labour party member.

Clarification on who and what we can discuss
TerfsUp · 09/09/2018 14:38

Can't hurt the men's feelz, OP.

PeakPants · 09/09/2018 14:48

doedoe is the 'fursona' the younger or the older Green party person?

BeyondAnOmnishambles · 09/09/2018 14:49

The younger iirc.

LangCleg · 09/09/2018 15:58

Look, I think Lily is an MRA with a trans identity. I think Lily is too thick to be anybody's political voice, even the voice of a lobby I oppose. I also think Lily is a passenger not a driver, has vulnerabilities and the Labour Party should be better exercising its duty of care.

If women here want to start critical thread about Lily, I'm fine with that.

If MNHQ have fearful fits and delete those threads, so be it.

What I'm mostly not fine about is arguing with other women about what we are allowed to say, what we should say, what tone we should use and all the rest of it. If a thread you don't like the look of appears, don't contribute to it. Simples.

AngryAttackKittens · 09/09/2018 16:05

If a thread you don't like the look of appears, don't contribute to it. Simples.

Yep. I am trying not to engage with the "you're making me look bad, now speak only how I think you should" comments. It's not easy but I'm trying!
