I was just flicking through Facebook and saw this post from a friend. I'm not sure which bit offended me most but the "submissive" was possibly the winner there although so many good contenders. It was also the bit about finding a man as though we are incomplete without one. Personally I've never felt better since being without one! Happy to be told I'm being ridiculous but it's really got me thinking about how this stuff is constantly fed to society as a whole. There's probably male equivalent ones but I never see any male friends posting them.

Did you even need to ask? It’s a fucking joke. I hate memes like this and I feel better after deactivating my Facebook and not having to see shit like that on a daily basis anymore. Now I just follow feminists on twitter and stuff and oddly enough they can all ‘be women’ whether or not they are submissive.

This reminds me of Theresa May trying to reassure the country that she’s still a perfect wife and wouldn’t dream of taking out the bins because that’s a ‘boy job’. Get to fuck. You’re obviously ambitious as hell to get to where you are. When women like that bleat on about how ‘oh really I am just a girlie girl who wants my man to protect me’, you are pissing on women and girls and reinforcing stereotypes. Everyone has a dominant and a submissive side- it has nothing to do with what sex you are.

But so angry/sad that this shite is still being banded about in 2018.

@overnightangel eh? What do you mean that my comment is just as bad?! The genderist propaganda we are indoctrinated with from birth contributes massively to skewed roles within relationships.

LassWiADelicateAir · 10/09/2018 21:14

I think overnight angel might have been referring to the air of self- pity it came with- the "oh woe is us, we can identify this sort of crap- but hey the patriarchy- what can we do other than moan about it" tone.

In the context of individual domestic arrangements-there is quite a lot one can do. There is no need whatsoever to end up carrying 99% of the weight in family/house/relationship while he's down the pub/playing sports/building his career

Is equally as cringey and wrong

AllDayBreakfast · 10/09/2018 21:14

It reminds men of that overused Marilyn Monroe quote that so many women had on their Facebook at one time - "every woman is little bit insecure" or whatever it said.

To be fair, a lot of posters on here admitted leaving the bins and other 'manly jobs' to their men on the I'm a feminist but thread.

overnightangel · 10/09/2018 21:54

@LassWiADelicateAir thanks , you articulated what I was trying to get across!!

DuckingGoodPJs · 10/09/2018 22:14

I'm not sure which bit offended me most

All 15 lines of it.
Clearly an artform to get that much sexism condensed into one meme.
The only thing missing was the word 'sammich'.

overnightangel · 10/09/2018 22:17

What does “sammich” mean

BellMcEnd · 10/09/2018 22:17

vom

MadameButterface · 10/09/2018 22:20

If this woman existed, she would almost definitely try to sell you aloe vera weighloss gel. Grin Grin Grin

people who share unspirational quotes and shitty memes about sunsets and rainbows and rain and dancing like no one is watching are always the most dysfunctional howling bellends on the planet

actually let me try that again, imagine a picture of a waterfall or a tree or some shit, right here we go:

"people who share unspirational quotes and shitty memes about sunsets and rainbows and rain and dancing like no one is watching are always the most dysfunctional howling bellends on the planet" - unknown author

PlatypusPie · 10/09/2018 22:24

To sum up: Wanted - woman who will do what ever I want but can pick up the bill.

MadameButterface · 10/09/2018 22:27

these are WOMEN sharing this shit though Platypus, this is their fantasy image of themselves

why why whyyyyyyyyyyyy

I'm dying of cringe on all their behalfs

deydododatdodontdeydo · 10/09/2018 22:30

I see a lot of these kind of memes.
Always posted by women.
I severely doubt they're all written by men.

Prawnofthepatriarchy · 11/09/2018 13:56

What's amazing is how many straight women are able to find love despite entirely failing to comply with this revolting stereotype. It's almost as if most people know deep down that gender is bollocks.

SirVixofVixHall · 11/09/2018 15:40

🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤮

MyKingdomForBrie · 12/09/2018 00:36

@overnightangel @LassWiADelicateAir

Riiiiight.. well there was no 'woe' about it, it pisses me off and I'm raising my children as differently as possible, and I take out my own bloody bins. But sure make some fairly patronising assumptions of me if you will!

Doesn't change the fact that many women live with men who have that mindset and put up with it because they buy into the idea that they should be 'womanly'. If by the 'us' you imagine (despite my quite obvious scorn) that I am one who buys in, well no.

wafflyversatile · 12/09/2018 00:42

Post a comment saying. Never knew you was a lesbian, hun. Don't want to piss on your chips but she sounds out of your league.

KnotsInMay · 12/09/2018 00:58

“To sum up: Wanted - woman who will do what ever I want but can pick up the bill.”
