'A smaller, local branch of an organisation can action safeguarding straight away and fuss-free when necessary - why the fuck didn’t a large political party not do the same?'
The answer to that should come out in the enquiry.
I don't think it will.
It's become pretty clear over the course of these threads that there is a faction within the Green Party with an agenda somewhat at odds with the old-stool aims of the Green Party.
Structural failures within the Green Party's inner systems of oversight and governance have given that faction a good deal of institutional power.
Those same structural failings have given rise to at least two distinct communicative networks - a fact which has also interferes with oversight of groups - and group activities - within the Green Party (witness Caroline Lucas' seeming lack of knowledge as to the use of BlockTerf by the Green Party Women's Group).
The two factions are now at loggerheads as to how to 'deal' with the issue of 'who knew what, when.'
It is quite possible that it was those same structural failings that led to the minimising of the significance of the charges against David Challoner.
It is pretty clear that Aimee has a different value for these groups - and at the moment, the groups are in conflict as to how this story should be handled.
At the very least, the Green Party has shown itself to be an absolute failure when it comes to oversight of its Party machinery, its members' behaviour, the behaviour of its executive bodies, and those it chooses as its candidates for civic roles.
To the extent that it has disregarded safeguarding.
To the extent that it did - and continues to - minimise violence against female children.
Aimee Challenor - and charges of 'transphobia' - act in different ways for both groups. Both groups are cynically using them.
However, the one intention both share is that the effect is to silence questions and to remove scrutiny.
This is our fourth largest political Party.
It is irresponsible not to scrutinise the structures - and people in those structures - that allowed this to happen.
