Previous thread here:
www.mumsnet.com/Talk/womens_rights/3347925-Green-Party-statement-continuation-thread?pg=40

Will post links to AC's public statement and Caroline Lucas's appalling white wash job in a moment, but for me, Andrew Gilligan nails it yet again:

There is a lot of dark stuff being posted on twitter.

Wow the deviancy is widespread - as is often the case with sex offenders and their circles. What's that phrase? - the chickens are coming home to roost....

CesiraAndEnrico · 01/09/2018 16:28

Is AC's role in the GP actually paid?

That is a valid question. And one that the Greens should be asked, and be willing to answer.

If unpaid, there is something of a potentially exploitative and unprofessional whiff that should be explored.

If paid, donors should have the opportunity to examine and question how their money was spent and how the merits of "the talent" was assessed prior to being appointed.

CesiraAndEnrico · 01/09/2018 16:33

the chickens are coming home to roost

One chicken left such an impressive breadcrumb trail I am wondering if it was purposeful. At least on a sub conscious level.

Even if consciously one wishes the dark to stay hidden, the part of the person - that knows who they should have been, if things had been different - can find the destructive desire to facilitate others smashing it all down and letting in the light...irresistible.

Because it can look like the only way to start to find freedom from the past.

Melamin · 01/09/2018 16:33

I hope the Greens are not going to dump all blame of Aimee.

Aimee is a very damaged individual, the result of parents who would much rather play cat and mouse with social services than sort out their problems. Aimee was taken on by the Greens and trans activists and elevated to dizzying heights with interviews on national radio, given seats on committees listened to and no questions asked about why a young person is trans.

There are a lot of so-called adults in this game who are responsible. I hope some of them realise and do not just spit this young person out, all illusions shattered, to be fodder for paedophile 'babies' and the like.

EverardDigby · 01/09/2018 16:36

I'm 99% sure that Aimee's main spokesperson role is not paid, and bear in mind elected roles have very different processes from traditionally recruited volunteer roles because of the democratic process. There is not enough money to pay people - they do it because they are committed to the outcome. Yes there are downsides to this, but the alternative is to only have political parties full of rich people or those that attract big business and high net worth individuals' donations, e.g. the Tories. People will always come together in a common goal, if the GP implodes a new "green" movement will start, maybe informally at the beginning. I believe there have been calls for higher state funding of political parties to level the playing field and avoid some of these issues, but this is not the case at the moment.

WomblingWoman · 01/09/2018 16:38

Aimee has now locked their Twitter account.

CesiraAndEnrico · 01/09/2018 16:41

I don't think people are feeling inclined to let them do that.

Lisa Muggeridge made a really good video "why it matters".

It resonates. And it wouldn't hurt if it got a lot more mainstream exposure.

howonearthdidwegethere · 01/09/2018 16:42

Looks like Sian Berry is madly deleting any RTs she made of AC's account. 1-2 year old tweets deleted in the last two hours.

Melamin · 01/09/2018 16:46

Lisa Muggeridge made a really good video "why it matters".

idgeofreason.wordpress.com/2018/08/31/video-why-it-matters-a-great-deal-that-aimee-challoner-was-trans/

I was brought up with social worker relatives and friends. I feel physically sick watching it. She is so right and spot on. This is the sort of 'damage' you hear of happening, blow by blow in real life.

thecatfromjapan · 01/09/2018 16:47

Siân Berry?

Hmm

Interesting.

That could be an indication of how the internal faction war is going.

Or it could indicate that this is just getting far, far more toxic than previously thought.

I also suspect it indicates that some sections of the Green Party have withheld a lot of information from other sections.

Melamin · 01/09/2018 16:48

Is Berry one of the 'internal communicators'? Covering their tracks and dumping all on Aimee. They have used her/him.

LangCleg · 01/09/2018 16:49

Quite frankly, if even a tenth of what I am reading here and elsewhere is true, the sooner this happens the better. This stuff should be leading the news.

LadybirdsAreBirds · 01/09/2018 16:51

Melamin

Everyone should watch that

The fucking NSPCC should watch that

EverardDigby · 01/09/2018 16:54

None of those deleted tweets look controversial in themselves.

WomblingWoman · 01/09/2018 16:54

Berry is standing a co leader and widely expected to win.

CesiraAndEnrico · 01/09/2018 16:55

Looks like Sian Berry is madly deleting any RTs she made of AC's account

And thanks to Mayoral deletions (a bot ?) they are all now right up there in the front of the timeline.

It looks indiscriminate, so could be panic. Which may, or may not have something to do with Dark Stuff being revealed.

howonearthdidwegethere · 01/09/2018 16:58

Read all the deletions here: twitter.com/londondeletes

LadybirdsAreBirds · 01/09/2018 16:59

thanks howonearth

thecatfromjapan · 01/09/2018 17:00

The Lisa Muggeridge video is very, very good.

I keep saying this (and Lang, I know we agree: we've shared space on the Safeguarding thread,) but that is why the 'affirm' narrative for Trans identity is so fucking dangerous.

And we are actually seeing it play out in real time - right here.

It helped cover up an abusive background in Aimee Challenor's case.

It enabled a political Party to 'boost' and use a young Trans person without doing basic due diligence on her and her family.

It permitted a lack of oversight of her - and her associates' - activity while acting for that Party.

It permitted oversight of failures in safeguarding on her part.

It permitted lack of safeguarding of someone who was charged with violent sexual crimes against a female minor.

and it is now being used to cover up all those failings - right now, in the present

It is so incredibly dangerous.

As is the charge of 'transphobia' - because it can and is, right here, used as a strategy to silence, evade and cover up wrong-doing.

Frankly, the Green Party, right now, is the site of a massive cover-up.

thecatfromjapan · 01/09/2018 17:03

The point of Siân Berry's deletions are disassociation.

There are a number of possible reasons for that:

The 'serious' members of the Party, with an existing public profile, want to get as far from this sorry mess as they can.

It also signals which 'faction' they belong to.

And it might be a preventative firewall ahead of more damaging information emerging in the future.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 01/09/2018 17:11

There is a lot of dark stuff being posted on twitter.

Some of which I had found before everything started disappearing.

arranfan · 01/09/2018 17:12

Isn't Siân Berry not only a Green Member of the London Assembly but also one of the candidates in the recent GP elections? Running as a slate for Green party co-leader?

What is she doing by deleting these tweets in advance of the independent investigation?

howonearthdidwegethere · 01/09/2018 17:15

Yep. Her Twitter bio:

Green London Assembly member. Stood for London Mayor 2008 and 2016: Camden Councillor for Highgate Ward since 2014.

And standing on joint ticket for leader position with Jonathan Bartley. (Ballot closed yesterday.)

WomblingWoman · 01/09/2018 17:17

There's seemingly a hell of a lot of SM housekeeping going on today in the Green Party.
