Sunlight not welcomed - trans advocates afraid

We have to acknowledge that we have largely achieved our successes by flying under the radar”, (then) Transgender Law Center Director Masen Davis stated eighteen months ago, “It is a secret at Transgender Law Center and I’ll ‘come out’ today. We do a lot, really quietly. We have made some of our biggest gains: that nobody has noticed

That's a quote from 2013.

Well now that women are noticing and collating, they are so afraid of the exposure that they cannot bear to see their work listed and described. In many ways, this is a good sign: of how their confidence and status is so deeply fragile, and they know it.

12th is quite happy to let it stand, I should think. 12th is no great GC poster and will be quite content to be misquoted with negative intent if it makes MN look bad.

That's the level of duplicitous mendacity we're dealing with, in case anyone didn't know yet.

NameChangedAgain18 · 29/08/2018 17:27

Mumsnet after 5.00pm

FloralBunting · 29/08/2018 17:28

After 5pm? I'm sure one of those women's pocket watches says 10am.

birdbandit · 29/08/2018 17:28

Thing is, it's all just advertising. Dr Harrop etc are sending folk here, they look, they become Spartacus.

The good Dr is so gloriously, tirelessly working hard for the GC debate. Letting the general public listen in to his unhinged, nasty, venomous rhetoric; he's actively promoting this bile everyday.

It is brave and stunning that this dear fellow is willing to car crash his career for us all.

Datun · 29/08/2018 17:28

Oh lord, that's hilarious.

Anyway, although I'm pissed, I've run out of gin, and can't find my kids. So I'm just going drive round to the offie, and hopefully pass them somewhere along the way.

If anyone sees them, let me know. There's three of them - or is it four?

And they're wearing...actually I'm not sure. They may not even be dressed.

Good luck and cheers.

Gin shouts exictadly and runs about

Just sayin' Hmm

ToeToToe · 29/08/2018 17:32

Dr Harrop!

I knew you were on our side really. Your mistake? You were just a little too extreme. Wink

@12thGuelph Are you going to set the record straight with all your Twitter mates that your comment was "friendly fire"?

None of us have said anything like that. None of us would. When a thread started up about a kid in the states who'd been mocked by their schoolmates' parents saying they'd castrate him themselves, we were all horrified. We are all here to defend safeguarding and women's rights, not look for a punchbag.

LangCleg · 29/08/2018 17:35

If anyone sees them, let me know. There's three of them - or is it four?

I can't even remember if I had any or not. Swigs Gin

LangCleg · 29/08/2018 17:36

Don't they even know about mother's ruin? Sheltered lives, some people lead.

BraveAndStunning · 29/08/2018 17:38

I think 12th has, to be fair. It reads like that anyway. Don't want to link.

However, the cowardly fuck who knowingly cut out Rat's reponse and posted it repeatedly to 'show' that MN's 'racism' is now onto pastures new. Doubt that they would ever try for the truth.

BraveAndStunning · 29/08/2018 17:41

They are currently trying to justify giving blockers and hormones to kids. Ugh.

I'm going back to work. Over and out

TallulahWaitingInTheRain · 29/08/2018 17:42

hic

NameChangedAgain18 · 29/08/2018 17:43

After 5pm? I'm sure one of those women's pocket watches says 10am.

Well some of us are more responsible, and don’t drop our babies in the fire until we get home from work!

FloralBunting · 29/08/2018 17:45

Some of us work nights...Grin

Datun · 29/08/2018 17:47

I'm pretty certain that the mumsnet strapline actually advertises gin on here.

Good job too.

I never post unless I'm well lashed.

ToeToToe · 29/08/2018 17:49

They are currently trying to justify giving blockers and hormones to kids. Ugh.

And that's why we speak out.

CertainHalfDesertedStreets · 29/08/2018 17:52

Way too classy for gin round here 🍸🍹🍷🍷🍷🍷🍸🍩

theOtherPamAyres · 29/08/2018 17:53

Scotland has a register to record lobbying activity.

You can search it.

Hello Stonewall!

haXXor · 29/08/2018 17:59

When I posted on the now-deleted "Meet the TRAs" thread, I spent about 90 minutes drafting that post offline and making sure that I was factually correct, had sources, wasn't quoting people out of context, and had acknowledged where I didn't have information (specifically where DC had co-proposed a GP conference motion but I wasn't sure what it was about, I actually said that I didn't know what the motion was about and didn't let people assume that it was a trans-related motion).

It really gets up my nose that TRAs will selectively misquote and outright lie. When one side of a debate relies on lies, that's a big red flag about their motives.

@MNHQ that thread was valuable because it codified all the people involved and let me start to join dots about how the trans lobby operates. All the information was public and if the people on the list had done nothing dodgy they would have no fear of public scrutiny as they are all public figures.

placemats · 29/08/2018 18:03

ToetoToe

The look on the guilty, so guilty gingerbread's face says it all really.

ToeToToe · 29/08/2018 18:03

What is very enlightening is how very spooked they all were about that thread.

placemats · 29/08/2018 18:07

Plus it's absolutely anatomically correct for a doctor that struggles with the concept of biological sex.

terryleather · 29/08/2018 18:08

That's quite the eye opener theOtherPam.

I had no idea there was such a thing as a searchable lobbying register so many thanks for that post.
