One thing, Anyone standing for election for any party will be asked to declare anything which might be potentially or actually difficult (presswise, reputationally, etc) Clearly that includes a close family member charged with a serious crime if only because of the press angle.
Can't imagine the Green Party doesn't ask this of council/Parliamentary candidates/those standing for Leader/Deputy etc.Not declaring normally serious. Given he was charged in 2015, if she declared it,did GP allow him to be her election agent; if she didn't,what's their position?
and if she declared it, any google search would have come up with David C charged with animal cruelty & imprisoned and a clearly long/difficult involvement with Social Services. Many questions for Green Party locally/nationally here.
This goes back to conflict of interest.
Being from a troubled background where it later comes out that a close member of your family, did something which abused someone and going into politics is one thing.
Being from that background, but actively campaigning to remove safeguarding frameworks designed to try and protect people from abuse is another. It either says you lack capacity to understand the purpose and need for safeguarding - because of your upbringing or it says you don't value safeguarding frameworks - because of your upbringing.
If you then don't actively declare to your party how this might reflect on you and your party only serves to compound that inherent conflict of interest.
And let me make the point, that if you happened to be trans or a member of the green party, how the fuck does the situation that has arisen advance your interests? I'm sure there are trans people reading this, in as much horror as any of this and I'm sure there are green party activists feeling very betrayed by it.
If the Green Party has skipped on this due diligence its even worse.
