Any child protection proceedings or care proceedings should have been disclosed by the LADO as part of the enhanced DBS check. I would be interested to know whether the scouts just decided to disregard this when appointing him scout leader!

IfNotNowThenWhen1 · 25/08/2018 22:33

Reading that report made me feel very sorry for A.C actually. They may be an adult now (just barely) but to grow up in that way..who knows what has gone on and what has formed that young person's beliefs.

ToeToToe · 25/08/2018 22:37

What you say is valid, IfNot.

In the absence of AC campaigning against the current safeguards for women and children, it would be very valid.

But unfortunately AC has been very active in the silencing of women raising concerns about the safeguarding of women and children.

thecatfromjapan · 25/08/2018 22:39

Anyone else thinking of Owen Jones tonight?

He's been praying for something to distract from the whole 'Do Zionists have a sense of humour?' shitstorm. And here we have a Green Party monumental fuck up.

And he can't say anything.

Not a thing.

Because the whole Trans rights issue is, in fact, woven right the way through it.

From the lowering of normal standards of oversight for a chosen member, to the implications regarding self-definition and Safeguarding.

So he can say nothing.

He must be pacing about, with stomach ache, right now, desperately tapping away, sending messages to his mates in the What'sApp group, desperately trying to find an acceptable line to take.

And I'm guessing something similar is behind the media silence about the larger aspects of this story.

It's beyond poor.

AngryAttackKittens · 25/08/2018 22:43

Can't say that I feel terribly sad about OJ's potential tummy upset. I'm sure he knows where the nearest Boots is.

(Or not, perhaps the Guardian pays enough for him to have people to do menial tasks for him.)

IncrediblySturdyPyjamas · 25/08/2018 22:45

Alot of women will feel very personally slighted because AC publicly declared them bigots and published their details not giving one shit about their or their families well being, including getting people sacked from their jobs for believing in biology.

So yes AC drew us into their world and published our details without permission, the irony of them wanting their privacy though, eh?

IfNotNowThenWhen1 · 25/08/2018 22:47

No, I get you Toe I do, I just think it's a bit of a grooming scenario tbh.A.C is very young, and God only knows what has formed their opinions.

BarrackerBarmer · 25/08/2018 22:48

I need to point out that in no way did my two deleted posts break talk guidelines, nor did they include "speculation regarding individual children and sex/sexuality/sexual abuse" or "imply in any way that a child could be complicit in this awful crime" nor did they include "speculation about other members of the family"

The first post specifically related to the ADULT PROPOSED CANDIDATE FOR DEPUTY LEADER OF THE GREEN PARTY" who whilst an ADULT lived with the convicted child torturer at the address of the torture, an address which is publicly listed as the Green Party Coventry address.

All of which is factual and a matter of public record.

As is the familial relationship between the convicted paedophile and the proposed candidate for Green Party deputy leader.

Also a matter of public record, and confirmed by the Green Party is the fact that the convicted paedophile was the chosen election agent of the same party candidate, a few months before the criminal trial commenced, and more than two years after charges were made.

There is NOTHING in these factual statements that you should be censoring, MNHQ. They are all facts which are a matter of public record, and of immense public interest, and you should not be censoring this.

None of what I have stated here is speculative.
I am implying nothing other than what is public and verifiable, and none of which relates to a child.

None of what I am stating breaks talk guidelines.

Let these facts stand please.

Theswaggyotter · 25/08/2018 22:51

The case conference makes for interesting reading that’s for sure

AngryAttackKittens · 25/08/2018 22:52

Fistbump of "this is bollocks" solidarity, Barrack. I got deleted in another thread for making a joke about an obvious troll having run out of goats.

NynaeveSedai · 25/08/2018 22:52

Barracker didn't even 'misgender' - she used female pronouns for Aimee. @MNHQ why did you delete the posts?

IncrediblySturdyPyjamas · 25/08/2018 22:53

A.C is very young
AC is 20.
apparently

Not too young to amass a list of 50,000 people, publish their details on behalf of a political party of the UK and mass libel all 50,000 of them.

AngryAttackKittens · 25/08/2018 22:56

I'd been living away from home for years at 20, and been traveling alone for even longer. Many people have children by that age.

A 20 year old is not a child and, again, is not the person who MNHQ should be focused on protecting.

FermatsTheorem · 25/08/2018 22:57

I hope someone's got the whole of this thread saved (I'm on hols reliant on phone and can't do so). Talk about something rotten in the state of Denmark.

Janice, James, where are you? We need this covered properly in the Times and Spectator. (Also I'm pretty damn sure there are Telegraph journalists who lurk on here... You need to start covering this stuff too. And Hadders - you're the one Guardian journo with enough morals and ovaries of steel to write this up).

thecatfromjapan · 25/08/2018 22:57

And AC, despite evident lapses of judgment (for whatever reasons), is still in position as of tonight, I believe.

So the Green Party is STILL not stepping up and taking this seriously enough.

ToeToToe · 25/08/2018 22:57

No, I get you Toe I do, I just think it's a bit of a grooming scenario tbh.A.C is very young, and God only knows what has formed their opinions.

It is possible this is correct. Absolutely possible. However, Aimee CHallenor is the last person who should be advising on safeguarding policy. That is, I would have thought, obvious to almost anyone. Even by the usual suspect Trans-activists silence on the subject. Note the on this?

We need to blow this crap out of the water - this, Jess Bradley, the prison sexual offences - the trans ideology is untenable. It puts women and children at unacceptable risk.

thatwouldbeanecumenicalmatter · 25/08/2018 22:58

When you leave the less experienced moderators in charge.

Hmm, yes possibly ones who enjoy maintaining friendships with a friend who used to work here...

Maryzsnewaccount · 25/08/2018 22:59

IfNotNowThenWhen1, I think we can all feel really sorry for any child growing up in those circumstances. But when that child grows up to be an adult who uses their influence to reduce safeguarding measures in schools/organisations/political parties so that other children are less safe from such circumstances, sympathy wanes.

Many people from abusive backgrounds grow up to be wonderful champions for abused children.

Some people from abusive backgrounds continue to think abuse is normal, and I suggest they shouldn't be given power over decision making with regards to the safety of children. I don't blame them - I blame the people who should be looking out for them. Looking out for both the people who are now adults and were subjects of abuse in the past, but also looking out for the next generation of children who are vulnerable to further abuse.

AngryAttackKittens · 25/08/2018 23:01

In some scenarios you can understand why a person has terrible judgement, but that doesn't mean that said person with terrible judgement should be allowed to hold public office, advise the government/schools/media outlets, etc.

CertainHalfDesertedStreets · 25/08/2018 23:01

WHY IS THIS NOT FRONT PAGE NEWS? Shock

I'm honestly bewildered. The GP's HQ in Coventry was a paedo torture chamber Shock

HollyGibney · 25/08/2018 23:03

I think it's perfectly natural to feel sorry for AC and what they may have been through, while at the same time questioning if a person with such experiences should be advising on policy that primarily affects women and girls. It's highly unlikely they are unaffected by these experiences and therefore can not be a reliable voice in the debate given the nature of the crimes committed by their parent and their own subsequent questionable political choices where they've allowed that parent to play a strenuous role in their political journey. The motives behind that on the parts of both DC and AC need to be examined at the very least. There's a pattern emerging here and its imperative that we continue to question why these very young and clearly damaged individuals AC, JB et al are being given such prominence politically in the first place.

Yeah me too. And yes they certainly do. And I 100% agree that this person should have no say in policy that affects safeguarding. At the same time it is possible that A.C has had a very fucked up life, and I can feel compassion for that.

ToeToToe · 25/08/2018 23:06

Maryz That was bloody quick!

As the Green Party themselves have released a statement on this, I would've thought we were ok talking about it.

Is Emma Healey back? Will my IP address appear on twitter tonight??

LangCleg · 25/08/2018 23:07

MNHQ

If BarrackerBarmer gets a deletion and strike for the post at 22:48, I insist on getting a strike too. I will repost what she said, word for word, and insist on getting my own strike.

This is a matter of public interest. And I also think it is a Spartacus moment.
