Hi all,

IW is on Loose Women in a few moments. I think she is going to discuss GRA. Apologies if a thread has already been started.

I know very little about IW, apart from the hairy leg interview on woman's hour and was appalled at BBC's treatment of Jenny after she wrote that article. I have only a blurry recollection of her being on CBB. Must google and see what she did.

Whilst she might be someone who's character can be picked apart, at least her appearance on the show allowed the subject of the GRA be discussed on a mainstream platform. It also allowed Nadia or was it Saira to ask if the GRA means that anyone can use any changing room, regardless of whether they have undergone any kind of transition whatsoever? The panel seemed to be overtly or implicitly sending the message that this is worrying. So a mainstream show, with mainstream hosts, using clear and uncomplicated language highlighted an issue that is currently being dismissed as only the concern of hate filled terfs. It would be hard to label Gloria Hunniford as a terf icon.

I think this can only be a good thing. Hopefully there will now be many more people, that will be aware that an act is intended to be passed that will effect them or their loved ones. If mainstream shows keep it on their agenda then people will start to find out and it will filter into the public consciousness. That is of course assuming the panel discussing it aren't a panel of mysoginists, who agree trans rights trump women's rights.

IW having a go at Amanda Barrie was just a disgusting piece of male entitlement as ever you did see.

Shocking behaviour.

And all the while IW was screaming that she was a woman.

IW used to be 'sensible' on this issue and try and make the distinction between transsexuals and crossdressers and such, then they got piled on by TRAs IIRC and they decided to start championing self ID. I guess India realises that Bradley can single handedly demolish this ridiculous movement, and doesn't want to be caught up in all of that so the distancing starts again. As its fairly clear to most people that when the backlash comes, it won't be predators who get it, it will be blamed on transsexual people.

I thik India made some decent points actually.

Did you listen to India Willoughby on Julia Harley Brewer's show with Justine Roberts earlier this year in April?

It was just after Justine Roberts had made the public announcement that MN would uphold discussion here despite attempts by trans rights activists to shut this down.

It is really worth watching:

The PN article written by India Willoughby (linked above) came out very shortly afterwards comparing Mumsnetters to Nazis etc

India was also unhappy that Julia H-B did not find evidence of the transphobic 'hatred and ridicule that festers' on the FWR board as described by IW.

India will flog themselves to the highest bidder. India sees themself as a “real woman” and wants that distinction made clear from the dodgy men in frocks brigade. Then India gambled and lost heavily with CBB where India thought they would wow the general public and have no need of the LGBT borg. India then proceeded to suck up to the likes of Paris Lees to beg forgiveness and acceptance. Now time has passed and India has just had ffs and the furore with Jess Bradley snd the sexual assaults on women prisoners - India is feeling strong enough to reject yhe LGBT borg once again. Good luck India - right, heading off to peek at India’s twitter feed!
