Will post link below as can't remember how to do it when starting threads. I heard she was at the recent Women's Place event in Brighton, she mentions it but wrote this before the event. Would be interesting to hear what she thought of that too. I love a bit of Julie Burchill. Totally agree with her.

I think taking the piss is the ultimate crime in pomolandia, particularly when you point out how bloody serious and humorless the people who reside there are prone to being.

Also trying not to laugh here

AngryAttackKittens · 06/08/2018 16:38

Maybe we should ask Connie Booth for her opinion...

They really are.

A lot of people say Donald Trump was taking the piss with his locker room talk.

I guess it depends on how much you care about those having the piss taken out of them.

Bit of a reach there? Don't put your back out.

AngryAttackKittens · 06/08/2018 17:22

It's always wise to stretch a bit before attempting a reach like that, maybe go for a quick round of yoga.

Jaxhog · 06/08/2018 17:24

How refreshing! I particularly liked the 'misogyny in drag' comment. Sums it up nicely in my experience.

People saying that Julie often writes provocative things in her articles doesn't mean that people can't be upset by/disagree with some of the things that she writes; you're allowed to be annoyed at Julie for saying that gay men have no reason to celebrate their sexuality at Pride, for suggesting that gay men never face discrimination in modern society because homosexuality is legal and they're represented in some creative industriesHmm

As I said, wouldn't it mean the same thing to say that women can't complain about sexism because sex is a protected characteristic under the Equality Act and we're represented in teaching and nursing? Bet nobody would be defending someone if they said thatConfused

Good points TacoLover

I suspect the article was shared simply because Julie Burchill is gender critical and the digs at gay men and bisexual women were brushed over.

At least her platform has been reduced to Spike online and nobody takes her in the slightest bit seriously.
