Cisgender women (and other people who menstruate) - The Pool

I am so fucking done with The Pool. Their articles have been getting more and more ridiculous recently but today we have this little gem

'.....after 15 years of talking to other cisgender women (and other people who menstruate) about their periods, I realise it’s all very normal'

link

Seriously, how do people come out with this utter nonsense? Do the writers on The Pool have absolutely no critical thinking skills anymore? Who do they think their target audience is, and are they determined to alienate them even further?

So sick of it

Identifies as Superwoman. Menstruates

littlbrowndog · 01/08/2018 10:48

It’s exclusive cos we are not cis gender women or trans woman

Where’s just women

Clairetree1 · 01/08/2018 10:50

Do join me in the comments underneath the Pool's Facebook post to speak some common sense. I'm currently getting a lot of "so what problem do you have with inclusive language?" type responses....

will do

dolorsit · 01/08/2018 10:55

I've been reading articles recently about peri-menopause. I have found it very irritating that the newer articles refer to cis women.

According to "trans" ideology gender is different to sex. Therefore one's gender is irrelevant to the menopause. It's sex, use the word female if you feel the word "women" no longer describes those who menstruation.

'Do join me in the comments underneath the Pool's Facebook post to speak some common sense'

On my way!

The users on 'the pool' facebook post, have made it very clear they are intersectional.

They are not standing for the transphobic GC angle.

The lack of logic shown by the GC advocates in an attempt to exclude marginalized people from the intent of the article simply comes across as monumentally petty, childish, and insulting to other commentators.

TransplantsArePlants · 01/08/2018 11:58

Nan
Try and get a few more adjectives in there my love. There aren't quite enough to make it nonsensical hyperbole

littlbrowndog · 01/08/2018 11:59

Lol transplants

littlbrowndog · 01/08/2018 12:00

Nanweat doing a frothing. Haha

BiologyIsReal · 01/08/2018 12:10

Nanweat - so who are these people who are not women who menstruate. Pray tell?

nanweat · 01/08/2018 12:35

BiologyIsReal
Trans men or non-binary trans...... simple.

As the feminists on 'the pool' are clearly pointing out.

LangCleg · 01/08/2018 12:36

The same class of human being menstruates after the advent of the gender religion as it did before the advent of the gender religion. I wonder what class of human being that could be?

UpstartCrow · 01/08/2018 12:38

Are men's magazines being subjected to this kind of censorship?

TransplantsArePlants · 01/08/2018 12:38

nan

Oh.... women. With a uterus. Got it.

WhereAreWeNow · 01/08/2018 12:40

Wasn't the Pool set up by Lauren Laverne and others? I can't imagine her having any time for "people who menstruate" type nonsense.

TransplantsArePlants · 01/08/2018 12:41

... or person-identifying elephant shrews

littlbrowndog · 01/08/2018 12:49

Naw upstart. The wokies would never try to pull this sort of stuff on men

They would get told to take a hike

Policing of women nan that’s what is happening

Being forced to tell lies and conform with bilge talk

Bowlofbabelfish · 01/08/2018 12:53

Logic, you say?

Can humans change sex?

CreakyAuldYin · 01/08/2018 13:52

I'm close to unfollowing too.

So many articles recently I've closed when I've hit the "word" cisgender. Angry

fbsg · 01/08/2018 14:07

I love Lauren Laverne, I really do, but I can definitely see her in the ‘feminist as long as it doesn’t actually upset anyone’ mould.

fbsg · 01/08/2018 14:09

nanweat - does the rest of the article bother you? Where the writer repeatedly refers to people who menstruate as women? A little exclusionary wouldn’t you say?

AWomanIsAnAdultHumanFemale · 01/08/2018 14:10

I saw this on FB.

Also Done with the pool. They seem very confused. Sometimes women is used normally with no qualifier, other times it’s “cisgender women” or people who menstruate. What are they doing? Do they even know?

Skimbleskanks · 01/08/2018 14:22

Ugh someone very woke on my facebook made a post addressed to 'menstruators' the other day.

Of course, she/they is non-binary, not like us boring idiots identifying into our oppression 🙄

Viago · 01/08/2018 15:16

Don't forget Lauren Laverne is in with Caitlin Moran and Sali Hughes. And sali Hughes is friends with Juno Dawson. Etc etc.

Viago · 01/08/2018 15:17

Though I'm not sure LL is necessarily involved with editing and articles day to day.
