Has anyone seen this. Thoughts? I watched for the first time ever last year because of IW who did little to advance their cause. Will Paris be more successful?

Oh for godssake!

Paris will do very well in this though, unlike India. Because, unlike India, Paris is not stupid.

The comments under that piece!! Shock
I realise it's the S*n but, blimey... And some people scour this board looking for non-existent transphobia when they could be satisfying a need to be maligned way more easily simply by hanging out on that site.

But I suppose the comments clearly illustrate that not everyone buys the TWAW line and PL will need to pull an outstanding performance out of the bag in order to convince the multitudes.

Destinysdaughter · 31/07/2018 11:11

Yes those comments truly are transphobic, referring to PL as ‘it’. Nasty.

VickyEadie · 31/07/2018 11:15

I never watch this programme, so am commenting based on the media reports of it. No-one who wants to to be taken seriously should go on there.

Bespin · 31/07/2018 11:18

Good for her should be interesting, at least there will be someone who knows what they are talking about

speakingwoman · 31/07/2018 11:25

She is smart - and has a bit to her IYKWIM.
It's a pity we can't have a gc feminist in there with her as I think it would work well.

Ereshkigal · 31/07/2018 11:26

Yes C5 missed a trick there, except that I'm pretty sure Paris would flounce out.

noeffingidea · 31/07/2018 11:37

It depends how well they hold themselves under pressure. A lot of people have exposed their more unpleasant side on CBB (Jade Goody eg). I don't think being trans is particularly relevant here.

OlennasWimple · 31/07/2018 13:17

I reckon PL will hold their own pretty well. But it will be obvious that there is a huge difference between properly lit, staged photos and flattering selfies and seeing someone walk around and hang out in their PJs as to how well someone "passes" IRL

I came to say this too - PL moving around and being themselves next to women will be an interesting thing to watch. PL is very careful with make up and staging photos (and sitting down on panels) so will be a real show of how well, or not, PL passes.

BoreOfWhabylon · 31/07/2018 14:18

Sooo - which famous GC feminist would we like to see in there?

ManFriday are pretty well-known now. How about it SwearyG? Wink

ErrolTheDragon · 31/07/2018 14:32

Having never seen the show, but from what I read - I wouldn't wish that on anyone and anyway surely they'd all have more sense?

Ekphrasis · 31/07/2018 14:43

Chuckle brothers supposed to be going in...

Roseformeplease · 31/07/2018 14:44

What about Magdalene Berns? Her and SwearyG.

Can't stand the programme - it is like watching paint dry and then peel off.

I am sure Paris will do better than India.

FloralBunting · 31/07/2018 15:17

The Chuckle brothers and Paris Lees? Paris really must feel giddy with excitement at such an opportunity. I wonder if there'll be any furniture to shift in the house?

Reading this thread quickly it really looks like the Chuckle Brothers are famous for being gender-critical feminists (perhaps they are!! Grin)

Coyoacan · 31/07/2018 17:07

Sooo - which famous GC feminist would we like to see in there?

None, I wouldn't wish this show on my worst enemy.

FloralBunting · 31/07/2018 17:13

The Chuckle brothers were recently on a WPUK panel I believe, tag teaming GC arguments.
Reports say that Barry was keen to stress the importance of biology, while Paul found the misuse of language crucial.

Oh so this is the 'exciting' thing they have been talking about for age.

Funnily enough I was only thinking the other day which famous transwoman they would put into CBB this year. I thought it might be Shon or Lily.

I think they will do better than India to be honest, they seem much more level headed. They seem more comfortable with their 'womaness' than India so I can't imagine any LET THIS PENETRATE type scenarios. Unless they were to put someone gender critical in there and it all kicked off, I don't think Paris being trans will come up that much (hopefully).
