And it's awful

No mention of sex, no mention of impact on any stakeholders, all leading questions, and horrible clear intention to filter.

This will affect the wonderful space at Hampstead Ponds so I urge you all to complete it. I will be speaking to the Corporation about its clear bias and lack of adherence to guidelines.

I suggest every council and company operating on the fraudulent list of protected categories under the EA be charged with discrimination against women.
Here is how it is done.

I asked previously on the thread:
edwardlord.org/2016/04/28/diversity-champion-it-is-time-for-me-to-come-out-i-am-a-freemason/

is it naive of me to want to see the diversity and equality policy of the freemasons?

I am also curious to know if (as it seems statistically possible) a freemason transitioned, would they (as per the Girl Guides) be encouraged to leave the all-male society? Or is Freemasonary more accomodating of gender identity, allowing transwomen to continue to contribute and play an active role in this this single sex society?

Might The Freemasons demonstrate a more progressive embrace of male gender identities than some might expect?

Yes indeed, the Freemason allow both transmen to join and transwomen to remain members of the male lodge.

Transwomen can also transfer to the female lodge after they have transitioned should they prefer.

So the only group excluded from male only Masonic lodges are XX women who are not transmen Hmm

So men, trans men, trans women, non binary are all allowed into the masons its only women who aren't trans who not allowed in according to what Lord has linked.

Not only is this not allowed under the equality act under sex, its also not allowed under gender reassignment, you can't treat those who have had their gender reassigned more favourably than the gender they are purporting to be. I doubt the masons would be able to claim that their policies are a " positive action to encourage or develop transsexuals to participate in a role or activity in which they are under-represented or disadvantaged"

How on earth are they still allowed to use council properties? Wonder could it have anything to do with the amount of masons on the council

What about the breast-bearing though?

'Yes, we roll up our trouser legs - but there's nothing sinister about us' The truth about freemasons in Wales

(extract)
"In a revealing insight into the world behind the closed door of the lodge, the body in Wales says there is no conspiracy behind freemasonry – and that its members are “good men”.

“There are very few things that are secret in freemasonry, what they call the modes of recognition – the funny handshakes, the words given to candidates when they come in,” provincial grand master Gareth Jones said.

“They are just part of a bit of theatre and drama, which takes people through a journey which is meant to represent their journey on this earth.”

He said there is nothing sinister about their ceremonies.

“Why do we roll up our trouser leg when we are getting initiated?” dad-of-two and grandfather-of-one Gareth said.

“There is a good reason. It is meant to demonstrate that you’re a free man, that you’re not wearing a shackle.

“Why do we bear our left breast? It’s to show that you’re a man.”

I urge you all to complete submissions on this consultation ! if only to get any angst off your chests

but as this Government has already informed you , it doesn't intend to change the EA 2010

City of London Corporation will have to comply with the EA 2010

Completed. Banged on about sex gender conflation, nonsense of gender assigned at birth, need to protect women/girls from predatory men etc etc. Thank goodness for the comment boxes. Raging at the ignorant entitled madness of it all. Thanks so much Sweary and Amy for fighting the good fight on this along with everyone else.

thebewilderness · 30/07/2018 21:12

More an more it appears that agencies are trying to change the laws because they have been in violation of the laws, so they want to make their violations retroactively legal.

DurtySarf · 30/07/2018 21:38

Longtime lurker here, have never posted in FWR before as I never felt I could add to the collective wisdom here.

But today I have a question. Is Mr Lord acting contrary to the spirit of the code of conduct for City of London Corporation members?

Specifically:

OBJECTIVITY: Holders of public office must act and take decisions impartially, fairly
and on merit, using the best evidence and without discrimination or bias.
d) ACCOUNTABILITY: Holders of public office are accountable to the public for their
decisions and actions and must submit themselves to the scrutiny necessary to
ensure this.
e) OPENNESS: Holders of public office should act and take decisions in an open and
transparent manner. Information should not be withheld from the public unless there
are clear and lawful reasons for so doing.

And also:

  1. As a Member your conduct shall in particular address the Seven Principles of Public Life
by: a) Championing the public interest, taking into account the needs of your constituents, including those that did not vote for you, and the community as a whole. b) Dealing with representations or enquiries from residents, City voters, members of our communities and visitors fairly, appropriately and impartially. c) Not allowing other pressures, including the financial interests of yourself or others connected to you, to deter you from pursuing constituents’ casework, the interests of the Corporation or the good governance of the Corporation in a proper manner. d) Exercising independent judgement and not compromising your position by allowing individuals or organisations to improperly influence you in the performance of your official duties by means of any financial or other obligations. e) Listening to the interests of all parties, including relevant advice from statutory and other professional officers, taking all relevant information into consideration, remaining objective and making decisions on merit. f) Being accountable for your decisions and co-operating when scrutinised internally and externally, including by constituents. g) Contributing to making the Corporation’s decision-making processes as open and transparent as possible to enable constituents to understand the reasoning behind those decisions and to be informed when holding you and other Members to account, and not seeking to prevent any person from obtaining information that they are entitled to by law.

And

l) Always treating people with respect, including the organisations and constituents
that you engage with and those that you work alongside, and not bullying, harassing
(including sexually harassing), intimidating or attempting to intimidate any person.
m) Not doing anything which could reasonably be regarded as bringing your office or
authority into disrepute.
n) Upholding the Corporation’s obligations under the Equality Act 2010 by promoting
equality, and not discriminating unlawfully against any person on the grounds of
race, gender, disability, religion or belief, sexual orientation or age.

Perhaps ManFriday would like to ask their contact at the Corporation about this?

thebewilderness · 30/07/2018 21:41

DurtySarf
Yes, he does seem to be. He is also in violation of the Equality Act.

Here is the Quote of the Day: "Replacing biological sex with 'gender identity' is like replacing modern medicine with prayer."

DurtySarf · 31/07/2018 08:59

Another thought: won't holding the survey over the summer mean that parents of pupils at the single sex schools in the City be effectively disenfranchised? Hmm

SwearyG · 31/07/2018 10:22

Oh would you look at this . In spite of being a Freemason since 1994 Edward Lord defends his membership and says he’s going to effect change from within.

I call bullshit. And isn’t it funny that his attempts to “change from within” are going full steam ahead at the City of London Corporation where it won’t negatively affect him. But in the masons? Whoops, no change. In spite of 25 years of alleged attempt.

Why is it so much easier for him to remove women’s rights than to share some of his privilege? It’s a mystery.

Needmoresleep · 31/07/2018 11:16

Another thought: won't holding the survey over the summer mean that parents of pupils at the single sex schools in the City be effectively disenfranchised?

I have written to the Corporation asking that the survey gets reviewed by a professional to minimise bias, that it is properly advertised, including to key stakeholder/user groups including schools and at the facilities themselves, and that they get their terminology right re sex and gender. I suggest that otherwise legitimate views of a number of women, who cherish single sex facilities, could be lost, with the Corporation running the risk of appearing misogynst.

No reply yet.

Serious though. I live in central London and enjoy swimming outdoors. I stopped using indoor public pools when staff at one Westminster pool were unwilling/unable to tell a group of womnen wearing burkas that it was inapproppriate for them to take adolescent boys (aged about 12/13) into a communal womens changing room. The women themselves justified their actions by saying that "the English had no shame. They knew as they watched East Enders". I would be equally uncomfortable, perhaps more, if a biological man used the same changing room. When I assume that again the blame would be laid at me for being transphobic.

Swimming is a huge sport/physical activity for central London schools. There are already problems getting girls from some backgrounds to take part. The idea that the Corporation/Masonic boys don't get this is shocking, especially given recent efforts to increase the residential population of the City. They need to start mixing outside their own small circles and start speaking to those who will be impacted by their decisions.

AncientLights · 31/07/2018 11:27

Men don't get much about how women view life, though. Some seem to think it amusing/harmless to whip their cocks out in public never thinking how threatened women might be, many have no idea of the measures we routinely take to try to remain safe. Then they 'transition' taking those exact same ideas along into their new persona. We've seen it on here many a time. And then they wonder why they don't pass as women.
