Gay Canadian Facebook Group are none too thrilled about dysphoric females.....

Yeah OK Bespin Confused

Bespin · 21/07/2018 02:30

About to blow honestly I will be fine it's not my first rodeo.

had1234 · 21/07/2018 02:31

Gay men are homosexual and have cock. Transmen are biologically women and lack cock. Gay men by and large, don’t stand for nonsense. Therefore, I would think it unnecessary to add “some” into the title, as suggested by bespin

Bespin · 21/07/2018 02:35

had1234 some trans men do. have cock to use your terms. also some gay men really don't stand for nonsense and do except trans men in relationships.

Beansonapost · 21/07/2018 02:39

I'm waiting for the outrage.

I'm sure someone will come along and call it a vagina-penis... only it's inverted!

It will be interesting when even more people start being more vocal.

Abouttoblow · 21/07/2018 02:46

Bespin I really don't know what I was thinking..... I mean there's nothing to back it up

Bespin · 21/07/2018 02:49

Abouttoblow well if you don't then I'll be blowed if I know lol

AliceSJ · 21/07/2018 02:53

Do we think (all copying quote for later use as uglyCathKidston said) that Mr Bennett might become an accidental hero for all of us?

What pisses me off the most (disclosure, I am straight) is that there are women in political parties, in higher education, in high profile positions in high profile so-called pressure groups who JUST WON'T SAY THIS.

Who, really is LEGALLY going to lose their job for saying 'Women Don't Have Dicks'?

And yes, I know this has happened, but as Dr Kathleen Stock said this week, come out, come on. Come all of us. They can't and won't sack us all. This bubble must burst. It's actually not a bubble, it's a boil to be lanced.

It's about time to call this shit for what it is.

Come at me. I fucking mean it. Reasons.

Abouttoblow · 21/07/2018 02:56

Bespin
You should also spread your wisdom over on Twitter.
You'd be a big hit over there.

AliceSJ · 21/07/2018 02:57

Also, brilliant posts on this thread.
TRAs know that time is running out.
Tick Tock.

NewbieSpartacus · 21/07/2018 03:02

Bespin I'm not usually one to point out typos but yours is spot on - "except trans men". Yep.

That quote is fabulous, we should all use it as a response in every situation from now on.

TinyRick · 21/07/2018 03:03

"some gay men really don't stand for nonsense and do except trans men in relationships."

Freudian slip?

TinyRick · 21/07/2018 03:04

Lol crosspost Newbie Grin

NewbieSpartacus · 21/07/2018 03:11

Too perfect 😁

KokoandAllBall · 21/07/2018 03:32

I assume he has more respect for transwomen. It's usually the way. Maybe not a popular opinion, but I have sympathy for transmen. Their rights have only only granted as a by-product of what transwomen demand. Even the story about ScarJo playing a transman got taken over by vocal transwomen.

Remember that twitter storm last year where a gay male journalist (Owen something?) was cheering on the cyber bullying of lesbians who would rather not have sex with penises, and how he was outraged when asked if he'd have sex with a transman? They are not viewed equally.

I don't see this a triumph. There's no risk in rejecting transmen. No-one is going to mobilize against him. They're far too busy attacking Amir Khan for using Caitlin Jenners "dead name".

I think we all have sympathy for transmen Koko, they are often invisible.

I actually understand why young women, in an era where appearance over substance seems increasingly important, would want to be male. Identifying away from oppression makes some sense. While society plays lip service to "women can do anything", they can really only do it with perfect hair and make-up. For the most part we have a lack of visible, senior, female "tribal elders" to inspire girls.

This is so true.

Bowlofbabelfish · 21/07/2018 08:01

For the most part we have a lack of visible, senior, female "tribal elders" to inspire girls.

So true. And the ones we do have are hounded relentlessly regardless of their intellect and ability - just thinking about David Starkey’s comments on Mary Beard last week for example. Post menopausal women are disappeared by society.

Gncq · 21/07/2018 08:11

I was going to post similar to koko that it's all very well a male gay group rejecting transmen, but if this person or other members were asked "should transwomen feel entitled to lesbians" it would probably be met with a shrug or a "meh".

They may even deep down think "well if a transwoman fancies a lesbian they should at least be given a chance" because yknow gay men aren't famous for their love of women.

It's not a victory. It would be if men like this could join in support of lesbians.

LastGirlOnTheLeft · 21/07/2018 08:18

I like that he said he didn't give a shit about the opinion of transactivists....if he had said transmen then it would be different. He came across as so dismissive of the entire movement.

SophoclesTheFox · 21/07/2018 08:20

I love it when the blatant naked sexism gets a good outing like in this story.

Nobody is going to be sending this group rape threats. There will be no twitter mob threatening beatings with baseball bats wrapped in barbed wire. Nobody is getting sacked over saying this. Because:

Men get to say who is a man
Men get to say what being a gay man means
Men's sexual boundaries, be they gay or straight, are for them to define and enforce
Gay men are free to be outraged at the idea that they ought to be attracted to vag, because they see that they're being told to be straight, same way they probably always were.
A man can identify "down" to being a woman, but a woman can't identify "up" to being a man.

If a lesbian tries any of that, though, heaven help her! Those rules are quite different, and we all know it, even if we don't know why we know it

I would also like to buy this man a drink, and ask him if he can stand up for lesbians too while he's at it.

BeUpStanding · 21/07/2018 08:23

When asked about the outrage by trans activists Bennett replied: “I have little care or concern of the opinions of trans activists. “You may quote me.”

Yes!!!!

YessicaHaircut · 21/07/2018 08:31

Bravo David Bennett.
That article linked in the OP is interesting though in that it’s written very dispassionately, with no real comment on David’s views. More or less every article I’ve read about campaigns for women’s rights (e.g. the recent protest at Pride) labels the protesters as “anti-trans”. Is it only “anti-trans” if women say it then?
