Does anyone know much about this group? They are coming into our company to deliver a session called Trans 101.

I want to attend to hear what they say but also think I may burst a blood vessel while seething silently.

I've never heard of them and the title of their talk is weird. Please report back!

AsAProfessionalFekko · 13/07/2018 22:10

Seems to be mostly training in law firms. I would definitely if the firms also run sessions for equal treatment of disabled workers, part time workers, those with mental health issues, women, etc.

Melamin · 13/07/2018 22:22

They look like a one horse show to me.

Ereshkigal · 13/07/2018 22:46

What a twee name.

cacoethes1008 · 16/07/2018 08:43

We've had the talk and it's amazing. Loved hearing about what Global Butterflies had to say. Opened my heart and mind about why it is important to be kind, empathetic and respectful to people we may perceive as 'different'.

Gncq · 16/07/2018 08:49

I am consistently kind, empathetic and respectful to everyone including those who are 'different' until they prove they are nothing of the sort in return, and if they show contempt towards me, I cannot continue being kind, empathetic or respectful and I will just say what I think.

LemonJello · 16/07/2018 08:56

Wow, I have no idea how to be kind, empathetic or respectful to people or why that might be important.

Sounds like valuable stuff!

Don’t suppose you’d have their contact details to hand caco? Just lying around your office maybe?

ErrolTheDragon · 16/07/2018 09:46

Global butterflies? Are they the ones who've weirded the weather?

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 16/07/2018 09:49

Welcome to Mumsnet, Cacoethes1008.

This is not an endorsement or condemnation

Sounds like PSHE or circle time for the younger children at primary school.

caco were you not kind, empathetic or respectful towards people who are different from you before you had this wonderful training to show you the light?

gendercritter · 16/07/2018 09:55

Ooh, you've piqued my interest. I must admit at the moment if I come across anyone who doesn't conform, I give them a good punching or trip them up. I yell obscenities at them too, if I'm feeling really grumpy. It's probably a good thing I get that sorted. It might be the reason I'm still single?

Callmejudith · 16/07/2018 14:56

But we’re not allowed to perceive anyone as different are we? That’s transphobic

Me neither! I have never heard of such a concept.

BTW, replace the word 'people' with 'women' and who does that remind you of?

Floorplan · 16/07/2018 15:29

We need to put on our T-hat apparently

Hi reserrecting this post as Global Butterflies are visiting my workplace (non law).
Anyone heard them recently talking on trans inclusivity in the workplace? I've not had time to listen to all videos on their website yet so not figured out what their stance is.

Thinks it is unkind to gather sex based data for the purposes of monitoring the pay gap

FemaleAndLearning · 26/09/2019 16:15

Unkind! Well that is scientific!

So should I wear my woman-adult human female lanyard to this meeting? I'm going to find out Global Butterflies were invited to talk or if they invited themselves.

BarbaraStrozzi · 26/09/2019 16:26

Thank fuck my workplace just got someone in from ACAS with loads of actual experience of real cases and knowledge of the relevant acts of parliament to talk us through the law. It was a bit dry but very refreshing in this current climate of madness.

Also revealed the useful stat that most discrimination cases are sex discrimination, followed by race and disability.

BernardBlacksWineIceLolly · 26/09/2019 17:13

most discrimination cases are sex discrimination

Gosh how completely astonishing

I thought women had it easy?

BarbaraStrozzi · 26/09/2019 17:21

Yeah, I know Bernard, I was flabbergasted I tell you....

No, hang on a minute. I wasn't. Not in the slightest.

RadicalStitch · 26/09/2019 17:24

My husband had them come to do training at his work, but much to my chagrin he didn't attend. A bloke in the office now puts pronouns at the end of his emails which I assume is related.
The videos on the web site are funny.
