balls out self ID Shock Grin really?!?

Flutterby1891 · 12/07/2018 00:45

Datun, I don't need to abide by every tenet of the Gender Critical Handbook. I'm allowed to have clear views on some areas and to be as yet undecided on others.

Your opinions are no more valid the mine, even if you make a much louder song and dance about them.

BarrackerBarmer · 12/07/2018 00:46

Self ID has arrived by stealth because it is almost impossible to deny any male person the right to be treated as if he were female on the basis of his say so already.

This is why women are reasserting their right to sex based protections. We're told they exist, in theory, but they have been overwritten in practise by self id everywhere already. Claiming to protect and defend sex is a piecrust promise; easily made, easily broken.

Flutterby1891 · 12/07/2018 00:47

How did I not notice that when I typed it, Waddle! Can't stop laughing now...

Datun · 12/07/2018 00:48

Flutterby1891

Given that you think two women being killed a week is an 'utterley vanishing' number as there are so many and you are surprised that given the types you've met, there aren't more killed, I don't suppose there is a situation that exists which you might consider effective.

Datun · 12/07/2018 00:50

Flutterby1891

Your credibility around women's safety is zero, based on your posts.

Pratchet · 12/07/2018 00:51

A lot more women would assaulted, photographed, leered at and have to suffer naked men in their change areas. Women would gradually stop doing things alone, like going swimming, to the gym, shopping. Abused women will stay in violent marriages rather than risk a refuge with men in. Some may be murdered as a result. Women will suffer harassment and abuse in prisons, in mental health wards and in hospitals. Private rooms on these wards will never go to women, because men will have to be put in them to get them away from women. Public life will become more and more limited for women. Womwn's rights at work will diminish, because men will fill tuck the Equality box nicely but won't need maternity leave.

Was that the sort of thing you meant, flutter.

thebewilderness · 12/07/2018 01:01

It is an effective way to drive women out of the public sphere.

Datun · 12/07/2018 01:04

Someone has just pointed out that 'repeat after me' is a direct quote from 1984.

AngryAttackKittens · 12/07/2018 01:08

Again, people, 1984 was not intended as a how-to guide! FFS.

Waddlelikeapenguin · 12/07/2018 01:15

I'm slowly reading my way through the third space thread & i came back because i got to this
Flutterby1891
As a woman this probably sounds terrible but two women a week being killed is an utterly vanishing number given how many million there are in the UK. I just don't understand why people get so incredibly overwrought about what is likely to be the actions of reprobates vastly unrepresentative of the average male and likely also linked to drugs/alcohol abuse in many instances.

It sounds terrible from any human. There are 8 more dead women every week too that kill themselves because of DV.
Overwrought? Ffs
I am disgusted by the callousness necessary to thing this way.

Waddlelikeapenguin · 12/07/2018 01:16

Dragoncake · 12/07/2018 01:19

The safeguarding implications for girls and young women are horrifying.

WeeBisom · 12/07/2018 01:22

I have to say, I saw the picture and burst out laughing. They are so rattled, so threatened, by a dozen lesbians that they are now literally projecting their message onto the side of buildings. You can almost smell the desperation.

BarrackerBarmer · 12/07/2018 01:31

"Saaaaaaaayyy iiiitttt !"

"Muuuum, she won't say it - make her say it"

AngryAttackKittens · 12/07/2018 02:22

It's not often that I suggest that the banhammer be wielded, but in Flutterby's case I think it would be 100% justified.

Waddlelikeapenguin · 12/07/2018 02:36

AngryAttackKittens wholeheartedly agree

Snappity · 12/07/2018 04:44

It's threads like this give the game away. There's pretense on other threads that the opposition to Self-ID is about safety, although trans people keep pointing out that modernising the arrangements for changing birth certificates will have no impact on same sex spaces. But here is page after page of people throwing scorn on the simple message that trans women are women. And that's it, isn't it? The activism isn't about safety, or the erasure of lesbianism but has one foundation : a refusal to accept trans women as women.

Here are some things that the Pride Board has said about the "vile" protest on Saturday (from www.pinknews.co.uk/2018/07/08/pride-in-london-condemns-anti-trans-protest-as-vile-says-we-are-sorry/)

"The protest group showed a level of bigotry, ignorance and hate that is unacceptable."

"The statement goes on to say the group – who initially stood on the rainbow flag that flies ahead of floats down the parade route –...".

According to Pride they "stood on the Rainbow flag". Total contempt for all LGBTIQ* people if true.

In contrast, trans people have disturbed nobody but quietly projected their message. It is unbelievable that they are being criticised. Remember, trans people were integral to the inception of the modern LGBTI movement and of Pride itself through their role in the Stonewall Riot. sites.psu.edu/womeninhistory/2016/10/23/the-unsung-heroines-of-stonewall-marsha-p-johnson-and-sylvia-rivera/. And to quote Sylvia Rivera and Lee Brewster when shouting down a feminist (from en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sylvia Rivera) :-

At the same event, Rivera and fellow queen Lee Brewster jumped onstage during feminist activist Jean O'Leary's speech and shouted "You go to bars because of what drag queens did for you, and these bitches tell us to quit being ourselves!"

Trans women are women.

bigoldscaredycat · 12/07/2018 05:18

On the contrary Snappity, it’s you who has has given the game away and confirmed what we all knew, by endorsing a quote that calls women ‘bitches’.

You are an MRA.

TransplantsArePlants · 12/07/2018 05:32

Cockwombles ARE Wombles

LilMadAgain · 12/07/2018 05:48

Did anybody notice (and I admit to skipping the last two thirds of this thread to post, I will go back) that the, 'transmen are men' sign seems to be less... Idk neat and tidy? Like somebody thought 'fuck, quick, we forgot the transblokes and it makes us look bad!'

Pratchet · 12/07/2018 05:58

Whaaaat? Snappity, some things give the game away about the sense of being part of a community of women. The knee jerk reaction to this is one of them. Your knee jerk reaction is so far removed from any tiny, distant understanding of how frightening this is, and how we are finding our feet in dealing with it, gives the game away, if we didn't already know, that your heart towards women is cold and that womanhood is just a resource for you to squeeze dry. All the time you've spent here and that's what you take away? You have not listened to a single word we've said. Not a single word.

Pratchet · 12/07/2018 06:04

And for the record, and because you seem to be able to tell an absolute lie with impunity on here, while calling women 'bitches'

Trans'women' are men.

Two statements. One a lie. One is the truth. I know which one you want deleted. I have a fair idea of which one will actually be deleted. And this would be proof of absolute discrimination against and hostility towards women.

Snappity · 12/07/2018 06:05

You have not listened to a single word we've said. Not a single word.

I have listened but like the majority of people don't agree with you.

And what is so frightening that some women are... women? Because that's all these signs are saying. It's just the same as "some people are gay, get over it". Exactly. Some women - trans women - are women.

womanformallyknownaswoman · 12/07/2018 06:06

No one can change sex - that belief defies biology and fact.

Believe it if you will but you can't force others to share your belief.
