Transwomen are a transwomen. I don’t see why they can’t be proud of that and own it instead of trying to erase women and women’s rights.

There is no erasure because trans women are women

MissSusanSays · 12/07/2018 07:08

Stormé DeLarverie (December 24, 1920 – May 24, 2014) was a butch lesbian whose scuffle with police, according to Storme herself and many eyewitnesses, was the defining moment that incited the Stonewall riots, spurring the crowd to action.

MissSusanSays · 12/07/2018 07:09

Well, you just erased a lesbian by calling Stormé at trans person.

Stilettosandan0venglove · 12/07/2018 07:09

But Snappity don't you oppose self ID on the grounds that people might use it falsely for personal gain?

You raised that possibility on the thread about trans men inheriting.

Or have I misunderstood? Do you support self ID even though you think people will abuse it?

Pratchet · 12/07/2018 07:11

Pointless saying TWAW when you don't know what a W is and as for T no clue at all

Pratchet · 12/07/2018 07:12

'Potential for abuse' were theceirds used I think

MissSusanSays · 12/07/2018 07:14

I would imagine that people like snappity don’t care about abuses of women. Because women aren’t important or special to them.

Stilettosandan0venglove · 12/07/2018 07:15

Are weabsolutelycertain that the people doing the projections are TRAs? My first thought was that it was a reaction to the pride protests, but that they were highlighting the way TRAs police language and try and change language?

I wondered this too. It's ambiguous at least.

The phrasing is an admission that no one actually believes TWAW.

AngryAttackKittens · 12/07/2018 07:15

Lasagne has to be understood in context.

What's funny is that even with the typo this is still the most reality-based statement Snappity has made in this thread. I mean, yeah, with a nice piece of bread on the side for lunch lasagna is great, but I wouldn't much fancy it at the end of a meal with a scoop of gelato on top. Context.

Also, the majority of people do agree with us, as the Pink News poll showed, so there's that.

Snappity · 12/07/2018 07:18

Well, you just erased a lesbian by calling Stormé at trans person.

I didn't and it is recognised that she is a lesbian

Dragoncake · 12/07/2018 07:19

Oh dear.

I have seen transwomen claim to be intersex many times elsewhere. I have never seen an intersex person claim so blindly and persistently that TWAW. Your posting history makes me suspect that you believe trans and intersex are the same thing.

Forgive my scepticism if this isn't the case.

Hangingaroundtheportal · 12/07/2018 07:26

If transwomen are women, then what are they 'transing' from?

AngryAttackKittens · 12/07/2018 07:26

If anyone is interested in the history of appropriation of intersex issues by TRAs looking around for comments by a person who calls themselves Zoe Brain online could be illuminating.

(Haven't seen them around lately, they used to pop up on every single media article that referenced trans people in any way. Maybe a new screen name, who knows.)

MissSusanSays · 12/07/2018 07:46

Sorry, I got mixed up as to who you were taking about.

But the fact still remains that you are advocating opening up the protected category of ‘sex’, notably female, to anyone who wants to join it. And that you think that women are wrong and bigoted to be concerned by this. You don’t seem to think that women should have an opinion on this. Why is that?

Why is it that men get to decide what women are but women don’t. Classic misogyny. You are supporting the redefinition of entire group of people and a roll back of their rights a safeties. That is what you need to think about.

Why are women’s opinions, worries and fears less valid than that of others?

Women are saying: we support trans people to live in freedom and be able to express who they are but we are worried about male bodies in female spaces. What is wrong with that?

TransplantsArePlants · 12/07/2018 07:50

Stilettoes

Hmm yes. Snappity never came back to that uncomfortable thread that hoisted Snappity by Snappity's petard

TransplantsArePlants · 12/07/2018 07:52

... or rather, Snappity put Snippity's fingers in Snappity's ears and went 'La La La'; failing to respond to posters who'd pointed out Snappity's hypocrisy

Amalfimamma · 12/07/2018 07:54

The op should really warn when linking to pricknews.

At least the we'd all know it's a parody post.

DrinkFeckArseGirls · 12/07/2018 08:06

I reallybwant a t-shirtwith a following text:
Seahorses are horses
Guineapigs are pigs
Ladybirds are birds

And at the back:
Transplants are plants.

Stilettosandan0venglove · 12/07/2018 08:17

Transplants yes, I thought Snappity made a good point on that thread. 'Potential for abuse' indeed.

Butterflies are butter.

WeAreGerbil · 12/07/2018 08:24

I'm thinking because of the wording this is a parody. Isn't it?

SuburbanRhonda · 12/07/2018 08:30

Interesting that NOWHERE in the Pink News article do they quote the first part of the slogan: “Repeat After Us”.

I wonder why that would be?

AngryAttackKittens · 12/07/2018 08:33

Ladybirds are both ladies (upper class women with titles) AND birds.
