The logical solution is to be gender critical, to work to demolish gender stereotypes and roles. Get rid of patriarchal biases. Get rid of heteronormativity, absobloodylutely.

Get rid of sex.... no, can't do that. It's real and immutable. Even if we could do the above so that kids can be kids, adults can express themselves how they wish and fulfil their potential without the artificial constraints of gender, there will always be a few with dysmorphia who are unhappy with their sexed body and for whom changing it insofar as possible to resemble the other sex may be the least worst option. But denying the reality helps no one.

So how would this individual like it to be done? Use those magic scans that can tell if the baby has a blue brain or a pink brain (because that's a real science thing)? Or wave some tinsel-spangled fairy wand and a monster tractor at infants and see which one makes them cry?

I am familiar with the TW who wrote that tweet... she wrote “Gender Nihilsm”, an academic text much discussed in the trans twitter world (though significantly less, I would imagine, within actual academia). The only people who are 'coercively and violently assigned a sex at birth' would be intersex people who were operated on when born. I believe this does not happen now, and I fucking well hope it doesn't, but to imply that this happens to trans people too, rather than the doctor just acknowledging the sex of the baby...well its bloody nonsense. I think there is an argument for the egalitarian treatment of babies, and moving towards less gender specific treatment of small children but like a lot of things said now by TRAs, there is no real connection to real world. Ok. What should we do instead of look at genital formation. Babies don't have any sort of self identity at birth apart from what others can observe.

I actually understand what this person is trying to say - but the trouble is that if you agree that gender is a construct then what even is a woman? What is it about being a woman that this person is if they have been brought up male/masculine? That's the question we have to answer before we start reassigning gender, IMO.
